Chapter 610: Shadow Oblivion
“Shadow Oblivion!”
The words were heard by everyone, and although curious, none of them thought much of it as this was the first time they were hearing these words.
Although it sounded familiar, like a voice they had heard before, it was a common occurrence when one was very close to death. They could very well be imagining things.
The only one with a different reaction was Zara. Her eyes widened in shock, and her heartbeat raced.
Those words—she had heard them before. Not once, not twice, not even thrice.
It could only be…
“Nox!” she muttered the name, holding back rivered tears that threatened to fall from her eyes. Because of her tumultuous state, she didn’t even realize she had spoken the original name instead of the alias.
Drake had overheard her and turned to look at her. However, before he could even open his mouth to ask any questions, Zara’s voice thundered through the heads of all the Dragons present.
“Everyone fall back!”
The urgency in her voice drove everyone into retreat mode, and they didn’t even think it through. All their instincts screamed at them to get away from the humanoid at all cost.
As all the dragons flapped their wings, scrambling to escape, a powerful black bolt descended in the middle of the three humanoids.
BOOOM!
The air trembled as the blast erupted like a collapsing void. A shockwave of pitch-black tendrils swept outward, sucking all nearby sound into silence for a split second—before exploding in a thunderous roar that tore through the sky.
“W-What is happening?” Raziel muttered as he saw the scene, his eyes wide with disbelief.
“Who could it be?” Drake was just as shocked. He thought it might be Ashren and Voron, but with what they saw there—even if the Scavengers and Remnant Eye had survived—they couldn’t have arrived this fast.
At that moment, everyone heard a loud chuckle from behind, and when they turned their heads, they saw the usually elegant and composed Zara laughing with tears in her eyes.
“Has she gone nuts? What’s wrong with her?”
“Hahaha! He’s here!” Zara ignored the words of the others and continued to laugh.
“Who is here?” Elise frowned.
“I can sense him,” Lumi suddenly spoke, her gaze fixed in the distance with a soft smile on her face. “Big brother is here.”
Everyone followed the little girl’s gaze and looked toward the horizon.
From the heart of the corrupted sky, from a rift so thin it looked like a paper cut across the heavens, a giant corrupted champion descended slowly and gracefully. When the others saw those distinct red eyes, they flinched at first, but then their eyes fell on the shadow mounted atop the beast.
“That… I see a person.”
When the shadow crossed about thirty meters mid-air, those on the ground finally saw the person’s face clearly.
Light blue hair, a deep set of chilling icy eyes that seemed to penetrate the corrupted mist in the air, and that signature greatsword resting on his shoulder.
It was without a doubt…
“No—Kawl!” Drake shouted, his body trembling with excitement as he nearly called out Kawl’s original name. “You bastards!”
“It’s truly him!”
“He’s alive?”
“I knew it!”

They didn’t know why, but the group felt a sense of relief flood them. They could hardly stay afloat in the air. Nox was like their light in the darkness. It felt as if, with him here, this bleak situation could be turned around.
“Are you all okay?” Nox asked after reaching a sufficient distance—not too close, not too far.
For a moment, no one answered. Zara gazed at him as if she was looking at a ghost. She wanted to hug him, afraid that if she as much as took her eyes off him, she might never see him again.
But she also felt anger.
Her feelings were mixed.
“Why did you leave?!” roared Zara.
“Zara, this is not the time,” Drake quickly said. “Yes, we’re fine.”
“You… you’ve been gone for so long. Where were you?” he asked afterward, his eyes narrowed.
“After you left, something happened,” Nox spoke. “I’ll explain everything, but for now, I have to deal with the threat.”
He turned toward the spot where Shadow Oblivion had descended.
“These guys are very durable. I had to continuously spam Shadow Oblivion to take them out.”
“Y-You wiped one of them already…” Valkor’s mouth hung open when he heard this.
A look of disbelief crossed everyone’s face. That was even the least of their shocks.
What left them even more stunned was how Nox was riding a corrupted champion! They wanted to ask all these questions but felt it wasn’t the right time.
‘That beast… isn’t it the same champion we were fighting against?’ A sharp gleam flashed across Valkor’s eyes.
Lumi recognized the champion as well.
‘Did he tame it?’ Zara was the only person that knew about Nox’s class. Seeing how controlled and tamed the creature was, she could deduce that the Scourge Champion—the second most loyal pawn of the Scourge Alpha—had been tamed by a mere human.
Nox didn’t reply. He held his arms out. When he entered the city, he realized the situation was dire. With a single glance, he could tell that a few of the original scouts had already perished.
There was no point holding back. If he did, more would only die.
When the dark flame slowly cleared, the three humanoids emerged—but they didn’t come out unscathed.
Nox held out his hands again. A sound, similar to a gunshot, echoed as twin dark blasts left his fingertips.
BOOM!
The dark blasts collided with their targets, sending compressed shockwaves in every direction. Shadows flared, flickered, and then imploded into silence.
BOOM! BOOM! BOOM! BOOM! BOOM! BOOM!
The entire realm shook that day, and all the Scourge dragons subconsciously left what they were doing and stared in the direction of the blast.
The blast reflected in the eyes of all those present, and they subconsciously imagined themselves in place of the Scourge Commanders and felt an involuntary shiver down their spines.
‘He was gone for just a couple of days, and he got so much stronger… He’s a monster. There’s no way I can compete with that.’ Valkor sighed inwardly.
Some time later, Nox finally stopped spamming Shadow Oblivion when he received the kill notification.
He watched the carnage for a while before turning to look at the others who were waiting for him to explain himself.
They were all eager to learn where he had been—and why he had suddenly become so different and powerful.
