Chapter 615: The Last Kingdom Standing
The dragon realm was no longer the realm of order and peace it once was. Kingdom by kingdom, the Scourge spread like wildfire—no, like an unrelenting plague devouring everything in its path.
With the Light Kingdom already lost and the Light Monarch forced to flee, Zhun’Var had turned his sights on the next in line:
The Lightning Kingdom.
It was one of the few regions untouched by the corrupted elder puppets he had dispatched, simply because their numbers weren’t even.
Far across the skies from the Frost Kingdom, crackling with raw storm energy, the Lightning Kingdom was built on a mountain range so high it nearly touched the clouds.
Dark clouds circled perpetually above it, bolts of lightning dancing and crashing into the ground below. Because of this harsh terrain and powerful elemental energy, the kingdom was considered the strongest in the dragon realm.
But now…
Zhun’Var arrived on a floating obsidian platform shaped like a claw. Around him, hundreds of Scourge dragons hovered.
Like the other kingdoms, the Lightning Kingdom was already engaged in battle with the Scourge dragons. It was a brutal fight—the Scourge forces numbered over 700,000, while the entire population of the Lightning Kingdom, including children, was just under 300,000.
To make matters worse, three legendary-tier champions were also present here.
This was a calculated move by the Scourge Alpha because of the strength the Lightning Kingdom held.
Zhun’Var brought with him another thousand corrupted dragons—dragons that were once light dragons.
When the Lightning dragons saw them, their expressions immediately turned grim.
The dragons stationed at the border towers flared their nostrils.
“New wave of enemies sighted!”
The Lightning Monarch was currently engaged with three Scourge champions at once. In his half-transformed state, he was a menace, sending bolt after bolt of lightning crashing down from the heavens.
BOOOM!
Lightning rained down on the champions—not to kill them, but to weaken them considerably.
When the Monarch heard the warning, he was momentarily distracted—and that was all it took.
One of the Scourge champions’ tails slammed into him, sending him crashing into a distant pagoda. The Monarch’s legs trembled as he tried to rise, but before he could stand, the three legendary-tier champions descended upon him.
It was already a miracle that a single legendary-tier existence had held his ground for so long. But now, with the appearance of Zhun’Var, things were looking bleak.
From every spire, dragons burst forth in electric streaks.
But Zhun’Var simply smiled.
“Too late.”
He lifted his hand, and the corrupted core in his palm flared. Black lightning arced outward, clashing with the kingdom’s natural storm.
A strange silence followed—as if the air had frozen.
Then everything turned dark.
BOOOOOOOM!!
A black lightning storm exploded in the sky, swallowing dozens of dragons instantly. The air distorted, and the kingdom’s own lightning turned against its defenders.
Within minutes, the outer barrier crumbled.

The royal guards—elite Lightning Dragoons—charged in retaliation.
But it was a slaughter.
Zhun’Var didn’t even move. With a single gesture, strings of dark energy erupted from the corrupted core, piercing the guards’ hearts.
They screamed, twitched, and fell.
Then stood up again.
But this time… their skin was slowly turning dark.
—
Back inside the pagoda…
The Lightning Monarch, in his golden-scaled dragon humanoid form, slammed his fist into a Scourge champion, sending it flying.
“Damn it. I would’ve killed one of these bastards!” he gritted his teeth, a wild thought crossing his mind. “Maybe if I kill them quickly, she won’t be able to use her special skills.”
His eyes flashed. In a burst of speed, he lunged at one of the champions, claws crackling with lightning. He struck it square in the chest, ripping out its heart.
He waited for several seconds… and still nothing happened.
He grinned.
Using the same tactic, he stopped holding back and slaughtered the remaining two champions.
Afterward, he hurriedly left the scene and rushed into the throne room.
“Where is the Storm Barrier team?!” he roared.
“They’ve been corrupted, Your Majesty!” the trembling steward reported.
“That bastard…” From the tower window, the Monarch spotted Zhun’Var hovering in the air. His expression darkened.
“Ready my armor,” he commanded. “And tell the Storm Priests to prepare the Final Pulse. If we must fall, we won’t fall quietly.”
The steward hesitated. “Your Majesty… the Final Pulse will destroy half the kingdom.”
“Better than letting Zhun’Var take it.”
The doors burst open before anyone could speak further. A wave of black smoke surged in, knocking back the guards.
From the mist, Zhun’Var emerged, approaching calmly as if he owned the Lightning Palace.
“Don’t bother,” he said casually. “The Final Pulse has already been corrupted.”
The Monarch’s pupils narrowed.
“You bastard.”
“Language. Tsk, tsk,” Zhun’Var grinned. “I expected more from the great Storm Tyrant.”
The Monarch bellowed and transformed. In a flash, his massive dragon form roared to life—wings arcing with electricity, claws sharp enough to shred cities.
Zhun’Var lifted the dark core.
And with a whisper—
“Obey.”
The core flared.
The Monarch’s body shook. Lightning coiled, warped, and turned inward.
He tried to roar—
But only a choked groan escaped.
A black mark seared itself into his chest. His golden scales dulled. His lightning turned pitch black.
In seconds, the mighty Lightning Monarch joined the ranks of the corrupted.
—
Back in the Frost Kingdom—
Dracos saw a shadow flying through the air. He momentarily paused, watching it crash down like a comet.
He stayed guarded, assuming it was an enemy, but as the figure became clearer, his eyes flashed with surprise and confusion.
BOOM!
The shadow crashed beside Dracos.
The First Monarch rushed over.
As the debris cleared, lying at the center of the crater was Light Monarch Thoma and he was barely alive.
Dracos’ expression turned grim.
