Chapter 622: Tyrant Joins the Fight!
After the others took the right hallway, Nox rounded a corner and finally reached a large chamber — wide and dome-shaped, with high ceilings and rows of tall black pillars. The room felt ancient, as if something terrible had happened there long ago.

At the far end, he saw it—

A battalion of Scourge forces.

And not just any soldiers.

These were Champions.

At least seven stood there, and at the center of their group was a grotesque figure — a Commander. Twice the size of the others, with a long two-pronged spear and a crooked crown of bone on its head.

And worse?

They had noticed him.

But the intruder didn’t flinch. Instead, he only smiled as he summoned the Shapeshifter’s Core, placing it in his ear.

[Item: Shapeshifter’s Core (Ascended Rank)

Description: A mysterious artifact that adapts to any form its owner desires—weapon, armor, or tool. Passively accelerates mana regeneration by 50%. Bound to soul.]

With this, he didn’t have to worry about depleting his mana, as he could regenerate it faster.

At the same time…

“Attack!” the Commander roared.

The ground quaked as the corrupted drakes charged, wings spreading, claws digging into the stone.

Nox activated Divine Velocity and vanished in a flash of violet light, reappearing beside a Champion and slicing upward with Oblivion Edge.

FWISH! THUD.

The head of the Champion fell to the ground effortlessly. Before the others could react, he unleashed a frigid breath, coating the entire right flank in a storm of frost. The Scourge drakes roared, wings freezing mid-flap as icicles stabbed into their joints.

During the Tournament of Kingdoms, Nox had copied and upgraded all eight elements into Ultimate Tier.

Until now, he had refrained from using them due to insufficient mana. But now that he had finally reached Expert Rank with a whopping 10,000 mana points to play with, he didn’t shy away from using multiple skills at once.

Initially, his mana shouldn’t have been this high, but it seemed this was another perk of his evolution. Which made sense — all his skills were Ultimate Tier at best, and the system had forcefully increased his mana reserve to match his power.

“Runic Dominion,” he whispered.

Immediately, crimson runes appeared in the air around him—dozens at first, then hundreds. From each rune, blood weapons burst forth: swords, spears, halberds, and even bows, all glowing and blood-colored, hovering above him, ready to strike.

“Go,” he commanded, and the constructs shot forward like missiles.

Each weapon targeted a Champion, hammering them back as explosions of force tore through the battlefield. One Champion’s shield shattered, another was impaled by three swords through the chest.

The Commander snarled and raised its weapon, a twisted shriek escaping its mouth.

A black dome of energy erupted from its body, pushing away the rune weapons. It stared straight at Nox, hate glowing in its corrupted eyes.

“You…” it growled. “You reek of something I hate.”

“I get that a lot,” Nox replied calmly.

He charged forward.

The Scourge Commander swung its halberd, trying to cleave him in half, but he ducked low and rolled beneath it. He slashed once, and the Commander’s thigh was torn open, dark blood gushing out.

It roared in rage, stomping hard — a shockwave bursting outward.

But Nox was already behind it.

Oblivion Edge whistled through the air.

The black blade glowed as it bit into the Commander’s back. The impact knocked the corrupted beast forward — right into a barrage of frost spears he had erected in time.

After dealing with the Scourge Commander, Nox flicked his wrist, and two corrupted dragons were frozen solid and then shattered.

He then kicked off the wall and slammed Oblivion Edge downward, splitting another Champion’s drake in two. He landed beside another and struck again with his blade.

“Halfway there,” he smiled as he checked his progress. More enemies rushed into the chamber.

—

Meanwhile, outside, the Alpha Team continued to slaughter their way through the enemy lines. In a couple of minutes, hundreds of Scourge dragons had died.

“Hahahaha, die bastards!” Raziel laughed as he fired bolt after bolt of lightning, each blast carving holes through the bodies of the enemies.

Suddenly, the Lightning Prince sensed a powerful presence behind him. He turned around—but it was already too late.

—

Inside the castle, Zara, Nyxirith, and the Earth Prince moved swiftly through the corridor. The path had begun to narrow, with the darkness thickening around them.

“Still no guards?” Nyxirith asked quietly, glancing from shadow to shadow. “It’s starting to feel like a trap.”

The Earth Prince pressed a hand to the wall. “The structure ends just ahead. It opens into a chamber.”

He paused, face tightening.

“And there’s something in there.”

Just then—

CRACK!

A massive bolt of lightning ripped through the wall to their left, exploding stone and debris outward. Zara threw up a frost barrier instinctively, shielding them from the brunt of the blast.

“What the hell—” Nyxirith started, but then they all turned.

Emerging through the cloud of smoke was a hulking silhouette.

Raiziel.

Or rather—what remained of him.

His armor was shattered, chest scorched and leaking blood. Sparks flickered violently around his body, his breathing ragged.

“Raiziel?!” the trio gasped at once and were about to rush forward, but another figure emerged through the broken wall.

It was a Scourge Champion—not just any, but the third Champion sent by Tyrant.

“Stand back.” Raiziel wiped the blood from his face as he grinned, lightning crackling in his eyes. Then he charged forward, trading blows with the Champion who had sneaked up on him. The ground cracked, and the shockwave from their clash blasted the walls.

Raiziel had witnessed Drake kill a Champion, and though no Alpha had appeared yet, he went all out regardless.

After some time, he found an opening and fired a bolt of lightning that sent the Champion crashing back through the wall from which it had entered.

Drake saw the Champion falling from the air. Without hesitation, he summoned an ice spear that rose from the ground and pierced the Champion, bursting out the other side.

Tyrant’s face twitched when he saw this.

He quickly jumped off the balcony and landed in the midst of the battlefield.

“You annoying bugs. It’s high time I got rid of you!” he declared, as a powerful aura exploded out of his body, sending the others flying several metres back.
