“I knew it might come to this,” he sighed as he activated his ability. “I feel you. I’d have done the same thing if I were in your shoes. Unfortunately, the other side is pretty important to me—I need them for something. So this will be your end, Scourge Alpha.”

As he said this, Nox activated all eight elements. Violent energy of all colors swirled around him, causing fissures to appear all around.

The Scourge Alpha didn’t flinch at the display. Her expression remained eerily calm, but the shadows beneath her feet twisted and churned unnaturally, almost alive.

“Hahahaha, I knew there was something special about you,” she laughed. “A human who could control all eight elements—you’ll make a fine commander.”

As she said the last part, a dark grin appeared on her beautiful face, making her look like an evil queen.

BOOM!

A sonic shockwave burst from her body, blasting the floor beneath her into jagged shards. The throne behind her crumbled into black dust as crimson veins of corrupted energy spread across the chamber like spiderwebs. The very walls began to bleed dark mist.

Black chains emerged from her back, each one tipped with razor-sharp blades that glowed with cursed runes. They coiled around her like serpents, poised to strike.

“You know nothing of our pain,” she said, her voice now layered—one gentle, one monstrous. “You only inherited lies wrapped in gold. I was the first to bleed for peace, and the last to be betrayed.”

Nox’s face twisted into a serious frown when he noticed that the corrupted aura she emitted was much more powerful than he had anticipated.

On the outside, the Alpha and Omega teams sensed the surge.

“What was that?”

“That aura… it’s frightening.”

Drake stared at the top floor of the Scourge Castle with narrowed eyes. The corruption there had grown much thicker than before. Even with the 59 percent resistance, the dragons still felt slightly suffocated.

Thanks to Monarch’s Dominion, the group had gained an edge in the fight against the powerful tyrant. With their combined strength, they had dealt with the commander and bound him in radiant light chains, as he was not compatible with corrupted energy.

“Hahahaha! The Alpha is finally out!” Tyrant’s voice boomed across the vicinity, his eyes glowing like someone who had lost their mind. “You brats better run, if not—”

At that moment, Valkor—his feet engulfed with deep purple flames—stomped on the head of the corrupted commander, shattering it into a bloody mess with brain matter splattered everywhere.

Valkor’s expression remained indifferent as he looked at Drake.

“We need to do something,” he said. “If truly the Alpha has awakened, we need to help Master!”

In the last few hours, because of the taming bond, the dragons had begun subconsciously referring to Nox as Master, even without him asking.

“Yes, let’s go. If it seems like he can’t handle it, we help him!” Drake nodded, and both the Alpha and Omega teams sprang into motion.

Inside the Scourge Castle, the Omega team—comprising Zara, the Earth Prince, and Nyxirith—rushed toward the direction where the powerful corrupted aura was pouring from.

“You bastards… you knew the Alpha was that way, and you sent us away!” Zara’s entire being trembled in a mixture of rage and worry as she dashed toward the left hallway. Ahead of her was Nyxirith, and behind her, the Earth Prince.

“We need to hurry!” she shouted. “Nox needs us!”

Due to the weight of the situation, she didn’t even care whether she had said his name out loud. All that was in her mind was to arrive as soon as possible.

—BOOOOOM!!!

A massive explosion erupted from the uppermost chamber as spiraling waves of corrupted energy burst out like a broken dam, blowing the doors clean off their hinges. The world trembled.

Inside the chamber, the Scourge Alpha had begun to move. Her black chains lashed forward with terrifying precision, slashing through stone and air alike. Each movement carried the weight of a kingdom’s hatred.

Nox didn’t flinch. He summoned

[Divine Velocity], vanishing from her sight for a brief moment.

CLANG!

Glacier’s End collided with one of the Alpha’s corrupted chains, the impact sending a ripple of shock throughout the room.

In that instant, he reappeared above her, fire in one hand and ice in the other. “Twin Elemental Burst!”

He clapped his hands together and released a devastating shockwave of both fire and frost toward her head.

But the Alpha smirked.

Chains whipped around her like an umbrella, shielding her from the blast. The room shook, but she remained untouched.

“Clever,” she whispered.

Suddenly, dozens of corrupted dragon specters burst out from the shadows—twisted abominations with fractured wings and gnarled fangs. They launched themselves at Nox in a frenzy.

He gritted his teeth and crossed his arms.

“[Runic Dominion]!”

A thousand crimson runes blinked to life midair, forming weapons of every kind. Spears, axes, arrows, and swords rained down from above, striking the incoming dragons with precision.

Still, they kept coming.

“It’s a swarm,” he muttered, eyes narrowing.

The Alpha floated above the chaos, her hair dancing in the windless chamber. “You’re powerful, I’ll give you that. But it’s so unfortunate that I’m your opponent.”

As her chains shot out again, Nox parried and twisted midair, crashing into the wall with a grunt. Dust and debris fell.

“Tch… she’s faster than before.”

She extended her hand. A massive corrupted scythe formed—taller than she was—glowing with rotting purple runes.

“Now, human. Let’s see how long you can last.”

She dashed forward like a bullet. Her scythe slashed diagonally, aiming to sever him in half.

CLAAAAAANG!

Nox barely caught the strike with his greatsword. The force sent cracks through the floor and flung both combatants back.

They landed on opposite ends of the chamber, their gazes locked.

Suddenly—

“NOX!!”

Zara’s voice cut through the chaos like a blade.

She barreled into the chamber, frost enveloping her frame. Her face twisted with panic and rage as she saw him locked in combat with the figure in black.

Behind her, Nyxirith followed, along with the Earth Prince. And just a moment later, Drake entered, panting but alert.

The two combatants, locked in a fierce fight, suddenly came to an abrupt stop.

It was at that moment that Zara and Drake’s eyes fell on his opponent.

They all froze.

Because standing before them, the being wielding corruption like a divine weapon, was someone they knew.

Zara’s mouth fell open.

Her knees buckled slightly.

Drake’s breath hitched. His sword clattered to the ground.

Both of them muttered at the same time, their voices hoarse and barely audible.
