Chapter 632: Slaughtering Demons
“She’s still in the capital?” he asked the girl.

The girl shook her head. “Yes. After destroying the cathedral, she flew with a group of elites toward somewhere… I don’t really know, but I suspect she went to one of the other regions.”

Nox frowned. Other regions? he repeated in a dazed voice, his mind quickly drifting to the Western region where the Cromwell barony was located.

His knees trembled. If this person was truly as powerful as the girl claimed, it would only take a couple of hours for her to wipe out everyone in the West.

He didn’t even dare to think his ant army would be of any use.

Drake tapped his chin. “If she’s really as strong as the girl says, she might be Monarch level. Or worse.”

Nox narrowed his eyes. “Or something beyond.”

The girl added, “They said her name, once. Just before they left.”

Drake looked up. “What name?”

She closed her eyes, trying to recall.

“…Lady something, I can’t really remember. But it started with an E.”

Nox’s lips twitched slightly. “E…”

A flicker of something passed through his eyes—recognition? Or maybe just the beginning of another headache.

“Rest,” he said gently. “You’ve done enough. Thank you.”

She smiled faintly, the food giving her just enough strength to remain awake.

“I never thought I’d see a hero again…”

Valkor muttered, “You’re lucky you saw this one.”

—

Meanwhile, in the academy…

Jack, Nyx, and Theo stood at the edge of the ruined hallway.

“More demons are patrolling,” Nyx whispered. “But something’s changed. They’re acting differently.”

Jack nodded. “They’re moving like soldiers—organized. Like they’re expecting something.”

Theo’s eyes narrowed. “Or someone.”

“You mean us,” Jack muttered, tapping the side of his odachi.

“Well, let’s not keep them waiting.”

“Hey, wait, you idiot!” Nyx held him back before he could do anything reckless. “It could be someone else!” she warned. “Besides, we’re here to find food, not to fight demons.”

“Right.” Jack scratched his head. “I got carried away.”

Nyx spared him one more glance before looking serious. “Let’s wait a little, then we head towards the kitchen and storeroom.”

—

Back in the cathedral, Nox paced back and forth, trying to think of the next course of action.

He couldn’t shake the image of the crimson-eyed woman the girl had spoken about.

But what bothered him the most…

She had killed Experts with a flick of her finger.

“That level of strength…” Nox trailed off, unable to find the right words to describe it.

Shaking the thought from his head, he shifted his attention to the direction of the Royal Island.

He would handle the situation one step at a time. For now, his main priority was the Royal Bridge.

After giving the girl more food and promising to return for her, the group left the cathedral.

The path that led to the Royal Bridge was naturally crowded with demons.

However, purple flaming balls exploded in the faces of the demons, followed by powerful ice lances that pierced their heads, chests, and other fatal areas.

Nox didn’t even need to lift a hand—Drake and Valkor effortlessly dealt with over a hundred demons.

—

15 Minutes Later

The area around the bridge was eerily quiet.

Demon corpses littered the sides of the path—some frozen, others charred to a crisp. The way had been cleared without even breaking a sweat.

The bridge stretched wide—large enough for entire battalions to pass through side-by-side. It arched slightly over the shallow channel that separated the Royal Island from the capital mainland.

Black banners with crimson glyphs fluttered above the stone walls.

Guarding the entrance were dozens of demon troops.

Not elites.

Not commanders.

Just small fry. Rank 40 to 60.

Most of them looked like twisted beasts fused with weapons—some with hammer-arms, others with jaws that split open vertically.

But they blocked the way like a wall.

Nox didn’t stop walking.

The moment they noticed him, snarls rang out across the area.

“There! A human!”

“Kill him! Tear him apart!”

“Offer his head to General Vom!”

The demons charged all at once, howling and swinging their oversized weapons.

Nox finally stopped walking, just five meters in front of the first row.

“Master, I can always transform and fly us overhead,” Drake suggested. “You can go straight for the so-called Vom demon.”

“That won’t be needed.” Nox’s eyes flashed dangerously. “I want to get rid of every single one of these vermin.”

As he said this, he slowly raised his hands. From his fingertips, lightning crackled.

The air sizzled, and both Drake and Valkor instinctively took a step back as they felt the charged atmosphere shift.

A low hum began to build—barely audible at first, like the charging of some invisible storm.

Then, it happened.

BOOM!

A blinding arc of golden lightning exploded from Nox’s outstretched fingers, lashing forward like the wrath of a thunder god. It struck the ground in front of the demon horde—then erupted outward in a massive shockwave.

“RAAAAARGH—!”

Dozens of demons didn’t even have time to scream. The blast engulfed them in a swirling storm of crackling light and heat, tearing through flesh, armor, and bone like wet paper.

Some were instantly vaporized—reduced to ash in a split second. Others were launched into the air, their bodies twisting and burning before they hit the ground, nothing but scorched husks.

The lightning kept surging forward, splitting into branching arcs that hunted down survivors like living serpents. Demons hiding behind walls or crouched in cover were dragged into the blaze, incinerated with terrifying precision.

A high-pitched ringing filled the air. Smoke curled from the blackened ground.

Where once stood a demon blockade, now only molten craters and burning shadows remained.

But Nox didn’t lower his guard just yet—several presences were rushing out from the other side, and among them, he sensed a very powerful aura.
