Chapter 176: Key and Announcement!
After a while, Nemo finally came to his senses and overcame the excruciating pain that gripped his body and soul.
Thanks to Geminia, the pain caused by the effects of the spell was not as severe as he had feared. As Idan had predicted, the spell had manifested itself at the very last moment, when Nemo was at his most vulnerable.
Nemo realized that he had greatly underestimated the power of the spell, and if it hadn’t been for Geminia, he wouldn’t have known what would have happened to him. In the worst case scenario, he could have died.
“How are you feeling?” He heard Geminia’s familiar voice when he was still lying motionless.
Lifting his head, he saw the same beautiful woman with long black hair and a black dress, the image she had taken on at their last meeting.
“Thank you so much, Geminia, without your help I wouldn’t have known what happened to me,” Nemo said through a mental link. If it weren’t for this ability, Nemo, as usual, like a fish, would just lie there silently.
Hearing Nemo’s voice in her head, Geminia couldn’t help but smile.
“You’re a reckless young man!” exclaimed Geminia, but she couldn’t help but smile. She was glad to see that Nemo was okay, and he had managed to overcome the ordeal that many others had not been able to.
Not only Geminia, but many others have been waiting for this moment — when someone will finally go through this important stage. Geminia was aware that although Nemo had overcome her ordeal, it was only the beginning of his long journey.
“As soon as you can walk, go to the Temple and take Kitty with you,” Geminia said, creating a comfortable chair and sitting comfortably next to Nemo, continuing to gently stroke Kitty.
With difficulty, Nemo sat down and took out potions to restore wounds and energy. Quickly corking them, he gulped down the contents and began to focus his energy on healing. He needed to recover and regain the ability to walk.
Geminia silently watched Nemo, lost in thought. She thought about many things, recalled the past, and tried to imagine what the future held for Nemo.
As a descendant of the Rain Clan, Nemo will have many enemies but few allies.
Geminia looked around at the others who were waiting behind the barrier, trying to figure out which one of them would stay with him to the end without betraying him.
There was a couple from another world, two Valkyries and an Elf.
Regarding Idan, Arabel, and Eulalius, Geminia had little reason to suspect them of betrayal. On the contrary, she was sure that these three would probably become the people closest to him. From their behavior, she realized that they probably knew about his background, which already removed most of the concerns.
However, Geminia wasn’t so sure when it came to the Valkyries.
Nemo, realizing that the others were waiting for him, struggled to his feet, although his body had not yet fully recovered. He looked at Geminia.
“Here!” said Geminia, handing the still—sleeping Kitty to Nemo. At first, he didn’t want to take her to the Temple with him, but seeing Geminia’s insistence, he gently took her with his left hand and pressed her to him.
“You’ll need her!” Geminia said without saying another word.
“Good!” replied Nemo mentally and, slowly shifting his legs, headed towards the Temple.
As he approached the Temple, he was overcome by a strange feeling that Nemo could not explain. Emotions overwhelmed him. He understood that he had not let anyone down: his master Milica, his elder Eulalia, as well as the two younger ones, who, after accepting him as champion, had high hopes for him.
It was a new feeling for Nemo, and it deeply touched him.
The others, having finished their conversation, turned their attention to Nemo, who stood up, took Kitty from Geminia’s hand and headed for the Temple. They followed him with their gazes in silence.
At the same time, Sierra and Esma were looking at the image of Geminia in surprise, trying to remember where they could have seen her. After all, the appearance that the Temple guard had taken reminded them of someone from the outside world, but they couldn’t figure out who exactly.
Although the distance was short, it took Nemo some time to reach the Temple. When the gate was about five meters away, it creaked open, opening the entrance to the one who passed the test.
Along with this creaking, dust fell out of the gate, showing how long it had remained closed. When the gates were fully opened, Nemo could not clearly see what was inside the Temple — it was pitch dark.
But as soon as he took a step forward, torches began to light up along the pillars inside the temple, illuminating the way inside. At first glance, the interior of the Temple seemed much larger than the Temple itself from the outside. This immediately made Nemo think that maybe there was an expansion magic inside the Temple, similar to those used in bags.
As Nemo approached the center, he was surprised to find two pedestals and a man waiting for him. But when Nemo looked more closely, he noticed that the man’s body was slightly translucent.

The man waiting for him was young, with long golden hair and eyes emitting a bright light. He had a big smile on his face as he looked at Nemo.
“Finally!” said the man. “At least someone managed to overcome the trial I left behind!”
Nemo froze upon hearing these words.
“Don’t be afraid to come over!” the man called, laughing. “You know, you really surprised me. I’ve been waiting for anyone but you. That is, a representative of your race!”
Hearing these words, Nemo stopped again and looked at him. He wanted to ask something, but restrained himself.
“I saw everything, young man. I know who you are, and don’t be afraid, I don’t wish you any harm. On the contrary, I’m a little glad that a representative of your race was able to come to me! Ha ha ha.”
As he laughed, his body began to shimmer.
“Oh! Time is running out!” he exclaimed, abruptly stopping laughing and looking at Nemo.
“I understand you have a lot of questions, but all in good time, and you’ll find out everything! This is one of the three echoes of consciousness that, when I was alive, I left in all three temples to greet each of the three applicants!” the echo said, spreading its arms out to the sides, as if showing the temple.
“From now on, you are the first and so far the only contender for the right to possess the “Throne” left by me as a legacy. You will find all the necessary information and instructions for the next stage of the test in this crystal of knowledge,” said the echo of consciousness, pointing to the crystal lying on one of the two pedestals.
“Come here! Put your hand here!” the echo commanded again, this time pointing to the second pedestal.
Nemo obediently approached the pedestal and, to his surprise, saw the imprint of his right hand on it. He looked at the echo of consciousness in disbelief, and then at his missing right hand.
“Oh!” the echo exclaimed, after which his gaze fell on the sleeping animal, which was still in Nemo’s hands.
As soon as Nemo realized where Echo’s attention was directed, he immediately guessed what needed to be done, remembering Geminia’s words that the animal would still be useful to him.
Nemo woke the Kitty up with a light pop. She slowly opened her eyes, as if waking up from a dream. She looked around in surprise and noticed a translucent creature in front of her, which made her fur stand on end.
“Interesting, it looks like this girl has high hopes for you, since she even trusted you with someone like herself!” said echo, looking curiously at the beast.
Nemo quickly calmed her down and asked her to transform back into his right hand. The beast reluctantly complied with Nemo’s request, jumping off his shoulder. Turning into black goo, it attached itself to the missing part of Nemo’s arm and transformed into his right arm.
Carefully checking his right hand, clenching and unclenching his fist several times, Nemo carefully placed his palm on the print. At the same moment, writing flashed around him, and as if it had come to life, it began to appear on the back of his hand, forming three circles of different sizes. Each circle consisted of letters unknown to Nemo, which slowly rotated.
“Amazing, isn’t it?” asked the echo of consciousness, watching Nemo curiously examining the letters on his hand.
“This is your private key! It has many functions. You will still need it to overcome the remaining challenges, and also help you leave this world!” — hearing the cherished word that these writings would help him leave this world, Nemo could not help but smile joyfully. With admiration, he turned his gaze back to the writing.
“You will learn exactly how to use it from the crystal. However, let me warn you right away: this key is intended only for you and will not be able to help anyone else. This means that only you and those beings who have signed a contract with you can leave this world.”
Nemo’s joy instantly faded when he heard these words.
“Heh, look at you! Don’t worry so much. I know you’re not the only one who came here. So I’ll just say that at the moment, only you can leave this world. However, as you progress through the challenge, you will discover new opportunities, including a chance to help others get out of here. And if you manage to take over the “Throne”, this whole world will be yours!”
Nemo was stunned to hear such an absurd announcement.
“Well, good luck to you, boy! I hope this is not our last meeting!” — with these words, the echo of consciousness disappeared.
“I didn’t even ask his name,” Nemo thought, and at that moment the Temple trembled.
