Chapter 1086: Together, Not Alone
They needed the Primal. To be precise, the universe needed its Guardians to protect it from potential invaders from the void. Attackers from outside the universe invaded the Origin Universe only once, but that had been enough to change the course of events up until now.
The Primal, the only beings who could contain, merge, and harness the Essence of the Expanse and the Weave were the only beings with the powers to fight void creatures efficiently.
The Will was certain Michael was strong enough to deal with the issues at hand, but it was also fully aware of how inefficient his powers would be against the void. Only the Origin – together, not separated – would work efficiently.
That being said, Michael had to spare the Primal. Killing one of them was already bad for the universe, but it would be fine. Maybe it was also fine to kill another Primal. Unfortunately, it was a fact that the Origin needed as many Guardians as possible if the void creatures were to return.
No, that wasn’t an ‘if’-question. The Will, expanse, and weave were certain the void creatures would attack again. The only questions were “when” would the void creatures attack, and “what” did the Origin prepare to deal with the void creatures?
Michael couldn’t answer any of those questions, but he could influence the latter…by leaving the Primal alive.
‘Fuck this shit. Killing them would have been much easier than this bullshit!’ He cursed in his mind as a plan formed in his head.
The main problem wasn’t that Michael had to defeat the Primal without killing them. The crucial point was that Michael had to defeat the Primal and drain their Essence while the Gods and the Weave decreased the influx of Essence in the Beginning before infusing the pristine Essence surging through his body inside them.
The latter would weaken him while simultaneously strengthening the Primal because the two strongest Essences in the universe would merge and create Origin Essence – the Essence that created the Primal. Origin Essence could only be harnessed by the Primal, which was also why Michael’s body had been going crazy since the golden Essence of the weave had forcefully entered his mind.
Another problem was that Michael had to create a stable influx of Essence within the Primal. That being said, the Primal needed a perfectly balanced amount of Origin Essence. After fighting for eons, they were either weakened and skinnier than before or contained too much of the weave’s Essence. Removing the weave’s Essence was possible, but not without permanently injuring the Primal. Michael had to insert his pristine Essence into the Primal while simultaneously draining their Essence.
That required far more precision and focus than Michael would love to pay to such a task. After all, the Primal would grow stronger with every bit of Origin Essence forming inside them, forcing Michael to pay even more attention to their actions.
“One at a time,” Michael mumbled, shooting toward Gluvos. The chubby Primal lost his limbs several times in his fight with Michael. His Essence wasn’t drained just yet, but he’d lost the most Essence among the remaining Primal.
Michael took advantage of that and focused on Gluvos while sending a message to the other Gods.
[I need you to up your game. Try to refrain from the other Primal while I take care of Gluvos. If everything works out fine, we’ll have another Primal fighting on our side in a few–…soonish.]
Michael didn’t explain what was happening, but Loki’s children responded instinctively. Beelzebub joined Loki’s children and attacked the Primal. Gaia, Chronos, and more than a dozen Titan Gods, who’d been holding back for a while now, charged into the beginning. They unleashed their Laws and Authorities, ready to thrash the Primal for everything they’d done.
Michael could tell the disparity in strength between the Gods and Primals via Seer, but he hoped the gods were strong enough to stall five Primals long enough.
‘Fenrir and the others should be strong enough to stall two of them with some help. If the rest cannot even handle three Primal…maybe it’s for the best if they die. Their Essences would be wasted on the–…’ Michael shook his head and cursed himself, ‘Since when did I start thinking like that? This much power is getting to my head.’
The sensation of power itself wasn’t too bad. It allowed Michael to stand up for himself and protect those important to him. However, it also gave him the power to oppress others and force his opinion onto them. That wasn’t a good thing. If anything, Michael hated himself for thinking he could force everyone to do as he pleased.
‘Maybe it wasn’t that bad that the weave told me to keep the Primal alive. This much power is getting to my head. I need someone to stand up against me. A few beings capable of restraining me if something goes wrong.’
He couldn’t tell if the Primal were the right choice, but the images he’d received of them and what they’d looked like in the first few days of their existence were rather convincing. Michael was convinced that if the Primal regained their balance, everything would end on a good note.
He sure hoped so.
Gluvos attacked Michael several times, but Michael let them through instead of evading the attacks. Nonetheless, he used the Wolf Divinity with pristine Essence and Unlimited Enhancement to drain as much of the Primal’s Essence as possible.
Hundreds of projectiles pierced through Michael, but none of them escaped through the other side. The projectiles were devoured, transformed to Death, Poison, and Extraction with a simple use of Permute – which Michael could still use through the Wolf Divinity – and fired back at Gluvos.
He reached Gluvos and grasped his arms tightly, ignoring the Essence Blades stabbing into his chest and stomach. Dozens of tiny explosions resounded, but all Michael paid attention to was to infuse pristine Essence into the Primal.
Michael’s stomach was torn apart, his chest ripped into chests. His heart exploded, and even his Nature Heart suffered greatly. Michael had to stay alive with Ocean World, the perfect Soullife Arts of the River of Vigor, alongside the Nature Divinity. That worked out well, and he survived, but his strategy didn’t work out as well as he’d hoped.
Gluvos devoured the pristine Essence rapidly and started creating Origin Essence, but nothing changed. The Primal’s personality didn’t even change after half of his being was made of Origin Essence.
‘What did I do wrong? Where is the mistake? Where did I go wrong?’ Michael cursed all while Gluvos’ strength increased steadily.
Together.
Not alone.
‘Thank you for nothing. I know that as well. The Primal have to stay together to act as the Guardians. The universe needs all of them. I KNOW!’

Together.
Not alone.
“I KNOW!!!” Michael roared, “The Weave and the Expanse belong together. I know that!”
TOGETHER!
NOT ALONE!!
The words thundered in Michael’s head several times, but something in his mind clicked only now. Only after he heard himself answering, he’d sought.
The Weave and the Expanse belong together. They’re the sides of a coin. The sides of the Primal.
A moment later, Michael did something he might regret later.
His hand landed on Gluvos’ forehead, pressing tightly against it to send a stream of pristine Essence into him.
However, the Essence was different.
It accompanied a Link to the Expanse.
Michael connected Primal Gluvos to the Expanse.
