Chapter 217: Boosts
After a moment, she suddenly shot up from the ground, a new spark in her eyes, her blue contact lenses standing out. “Auntie! If he can’t come to City, maybe… maybe I can go to his place to find him!”

This time, it was Ashley’s turn to be stunned.

Wait, I wanted to set you two up, but there’s no need to throw yourself at him like this!

It’s one thing for me to offer myself freely, I’m older and was engaged before. But you’re different… Ashley was shocked by her niece’s clever, yet desperate, idea.

Ashley was speechless for a moment. “Clara, dear, be reserved! Have some self-respect!”

Acting like this makes me look really bad!

For some reason, Ashley suddenly felt like an ancient brothel madam, not only having fallen herself but now dragging another innocent person down with her.

And this person was her own niece, who had practically grown up following her around.

“Auntie, to hell with being reserved! If I keep being reserved, I’m going to end up married to that psycho!” Saying this, Clara looked like she was about to start bawling again.

Just the thought of living with a lunatic who could… have accidents… anytime made Clara feel sick to her stomach.

“Auntie, you don’t want your niece to marry a psycho either, right?”

She grabbed Ashley’s arm, shaking it back and forth, pleading desperately. “Auntie, you personally tested Alex out already! You said he’s a good person!”

She had always trusted her aunt’s taste and high standards when it came to men. The proof was her late fiancé, who had died in a plane crash before they could marry.

That man had been wonderful to her aunt – considerate, gentle, handsome, capable, and efficient in both work and life.

Clara believed that since her aunt said Alex was a good man, it must be true.

‘Oh, you silly girl, Ashley thought sadly. The ‘test’ you’re thinking of and the ‘test’ I meant are completely different things!’

“Are you sure?” Ashley asked, her voice heavy.

….

“I’m sure.”

“You won’t regret this?”

“No regrets.”

“Alright then.”

Ashley looked like she’d just made a huge decision. She grabbed her young niece’s wrist. “I’ll book the tickets right now. We’re going to City to find Alex.”

“Auntie, you’re amazing!” The young woman, Clara, was bursting with happiness.

She’d never really traveled far from home before!

Even though the Dawson Family was rich and powerful, her grandfather had kept a close watch on her because of some old marriage agreement made years ago. She’d never had the chance to travel far on her own.

Hmm… going with her aunt felt almost the same as going alone, didn’t it?

Besides, she was going to meet a guy she’d never even seen before, like a blind date. Just thinking about it felt thrilling.

Just then, Ashley went to her closet and pulled out a pair of black stockings with letters printed on them from a stack she kept hidden away. She started putting them on.

Clara, standing nearby, was totally confused. “Auntie, what are you doing?”

Shouldn’t they be booking tickets right away? Why was she suddenly changing her stockings? And into those kind, with letters?

They looked… really flashy.

“Ahem…”

Ashley coughed, looking down, a little awkward. “Just changing my stockings. You know, putting on a little disguise.”

“Oh, okay.”

Clara nodded like she understood, even though she didn’t really get it. She asked, “So, Auntie, do I need a disguise too?”

“You don’t.”

….

Clubhouse:-

This club was owned by Alex. Not only that, but it was also the most expensive and biggest entertainment place in all of the City.

Right now, in the largest private room on the top floor of Club, Alex was lounging on a soft sofa. He had a pretty young woman sitting on his left, another on his right, and two more kneeling in front of his legs.

Any woman who worked at Club was stunning, with amazing looks and figures. Out on the street, any one of them could easily make countless men fall head over heels – they were like goddesses.

But at this moment, these “goddesses” that so many regular guys dreamed about were kneeling before Alex. One was holding a wine glass, acting flirty. Maybe it was an accident, maybe she meant to, but her hand wobbled, and most of the wine spilled down her front.

Her clothes were already thin, and the spilled wine made them cling to her, showing off even more.

The woman with short hair sitting to Alex’s left carefully peeled a grape, picked out the seeds with a toothpick, and then gently put the grape into Alex’s mouth.

Alex had always been a picky eater, ever since he was a kid.

While enjoying the attention from these women—goddesses to the guys outside, really—Alex opened the system shop screen that only he could see.

“Tsk tsk, Eric Vaughn really is a great guy!”

Not long ago, he’d spent 80,000 Critical Points on a “Physical Boost Potion” and a “Stamina Potion.” But after Eric Vaughn spent a few days in the hospital, Alex’s totally drained Critical Points were back up to 130,000.

Almost 20,000 of those points came from that girl back in the big city, Clara. Only about 200 points came from that “protagonist” cop with the crime-solving system at the police station.

Tch! Can’t even contribute as much as a woman.

Alex casually browsed the system shop while the four beauties took care of him.

His own strength and fighting skills had gotten better lately. Ignoring dirty tricks like poison or hidden weapons, Alex wasn’t afraid to face Eric Vaughn one-on-one now.

He currently had four skills: the passive ones called [Deceptive Appearance], [Iron Stomach], and [Poison Immunity], plus an active skill called [Danger Sense].

Looking through all the different things in the system shop, Alex felt a bit overwhelmed. “I still need an attack skill, or maybe a control skill would work too.”
