Chapter 943: Which Heart Would Rise To The Occasion
“Your day has finally come, Zion Leventis,” Prince Zorren said with a devilish smile on his face. “Now choose. Of these three girls I hold hostage, which one will you save?”
The Prince of the Skavari race held the unconscious Erica and Shana with his arms, as well as Sherry with his tail. They were all in front of him, serving as shields against the teenage boy standing before him.
“You want me to choose?” Thirteen asked.
“That’s right.” Prince Zorren sneered. “You can only save one of them, and the rest will be mine.”
For a brief moment, memories of his previous hosts’ pitiful deaths flashed in Thirteen’s mind.
Most of them had been related to their loved ones. Both villains and heroes had taken them hostage, leveraging them to force Thirteen’s previous hosts into submission. To ensure their safety, his previous hosts had been forced to either take their own lives or commit vile acts.
To think that the same thing would happen to him. The System of Cannon Fodder smiled faintly.
“Time’s up, Zion Leventis!” Prince Zorren shouted. “Who are you going to sav—ackk!”
“Shut up,” Thirteen said as he slashed down, slicing the man who used his lovers as a shield in half.
“Y-You!” Prince Zorren coughed up a mouthful of blood as he and the three girls he held hostage were mercilessly sliced in half. “Even your own lovers… How could you?”
“You threatened the wrong person,” Thirteen said coldly. “I exist to get my revenge. Your pitiful attempts to stop me just make me laugh.”
Without waiting for the Prince’s reply, Thirteen crushed his head like a watermelon.
The teenage boy then looked in a direction, his cold gaze fierce and penetrating.
“Do not forget,” Thirteen said. “This is who I really am. I’m not a weakling who will allow anything to threaten me. Whether it be my family, my lovers, or friends, I can sacrifice everything for my goal.”
The teenage boy then pointed his finger at the person in front of him.
His body vanished, but those fierce green eyes, glinting with a chilling light, remained, locking onto the one he had pointed at just moments before.
“Do not forget the purpose of our existence.”
Thirteen abruptly opened his eyes and found himself wrapped up in a loving embrace.
His face was buried on Shana’s chest, making him understand that everything he saw and experienced was just a dream.
The teenage boy’s breathing became a little ragged as he forcefully tried to calm his wildly beating heart.
The images of his lovers, whom he had killed without mercy, flashed inside his head, making him feel nauseous.
“Zion, are you alright?” Awakened by the teenage boy’s sudden movements, Shana groggily opened her eyes.
When she saw her lover’s pale countenance, she immediately used her diagnostic ability to check what was wrong with him.
“I’m fine,” Thirteen replied, but he didn’t make any move to reject Shana’s intention to double-check his condition. “I just had a bad dream.”
Shana nodded in understanding. “Yes. Your heart rate is a bit fast right now.”
The young lady then pulled the young man’s head to her chest and lightly brushed his hair.
“It’s fine, you’re safe here with us,” Shana said softly.
Suddenly, Thirteen felt another pair of hands hug him from behind.
“Everything’s going to be fine, Zion,” Sherry said, sharing her warmth with the young man, whom she had always looked up to.”
“I’ll keep you both warm.” “Still half-asleep, Erica reached out and wrapped her arms around both Sherry and Zion, pulling them into a hug. “It’s been a while since we’ve given you a group hug, Zion. How does it feel being hugged by three naked beauties?”

Tiona, who had also been alerted by her Master’s sudden movement, nudged his cheek as if telling him that she was also there with him.
Being surrounded by his confidantes, Thirteen closed his eyes to calm his wildly beating heart.
After witnessing such a horrible and very realistic scene inside his dream, the teenage boy wondered what he would have done if he were in the same situation.
The old him wouldn’t hesitate to kill Prince Zorren and the three ladies even if they were his future wives.
He didn’t know why he was given a chance to live as a human, but his goal had always been the same.
To fight Fate and his Father, who refused to grant his wish.
Even if that meant using others as sacrifices to reach his goal.
Right now, he was enveloped in warmth and softness.
He suspected his former hosts felt the same emotions before, and it helped him understand, even just a little, what it meant to be human.
Seeing that the teenage boy had finally calmed down a bit, Shana planted a kiss on his forehead before looking in Sherry’s direction.
The young lady nodded in understanding, then gently reached out, cupping Zion’s face to guide his gaze toward her.
Sherry then kissed her lover’s lips three times before allowing Erica to kiss him next.
When the Sorceress had finished kissing him, Sherry hugged him close and lightly patted her back.
On the other hand, Erica lightly patted Thirteen’s head as a way to tell him that she would always be there for him.
Wrapped in such love, tenderness, and warmth, the teenage boy found himself falling asleep once more.
The three ladies looked at their lover with affection before closing their eyes to sleep as well.
There were times when Zion experienced sad dreams, making him cry silently in his sleep.
The girls would wake up by then because they would feel something wet and warm flowing in their chests.
High above the Celestial Realm, the System God looked at the black sheep of his family and smiled faintly.
“I wonder what choice you will make in the future, Thirteen?” Deus Ex Machina asked with a smirk. “I want to see which heart of yours will rise to the occasion.
“Will it be the heart of the System of Cannon Fodders who exist only for revenge? Or the heart of Zion Leventis, whose identity you are using right now?”
The System God had made his son dream that particular dream as a warning that he was still bound to the whims of fate, which he was desperately trying to fight with everything he had.
