Chapter 390: Illegal Maneuvers and Hurt Egos
Beatrice, effortlessly maneuvering another curved turn with one hand on the wheel, casually glanced back at them with a serene smile.
“Oh, this? Back when I was a kid, my favorite ride at the amusement park was always the go-karts. So, you know… I have some experience.”
“Some experience?!” Blitz screeched, narrowly avoiding a collision with Anzo, who was too busy glaring at Beatrice’s shrinking figure in shock.
“That’s like saying a dragon has some fire-breathing abilities! You’re a menace!”
Axel, who had been dead last due to a spin-out earlier, threw his hands up. “Yeah, okay, no. This isn’t normal. Are we even playing the same game?!”
Miyu, gripping her wheel, let out a frustrated groan. “This isn’t fair! Why didn’t you tell us you were a kart-racing prodigy?!”
Anzo gritted his teeth, his competitive spirit burning. “Alright, if she’s that fast, we just have to team up! Blitz, Miyu, cut her off at the next turn! Alister, you and I will go full throttle and—”
Before he could finish, Beatrice drifted sideways through the next corner like it was nothing, her kart kissing the edge of the barrier without losing a single ounce of speed.
Anzo’s jaw dropped. “Oh, come on! That’s illegal! That should be illegal!”
Alister, who had remained calm this entire time, sighed as he adjusted his grip on the wheel. “We’re never going to hear the end of this, are we?”
Beatrice, now so far ahead she could probably stop for a snack and still win, laughed gently. “You guys are so dramatic. Just enjoy the race, like you said you would!”
Blitz groaned. “Enjoy the—?! Beatrice, you’re out here committing vehicular war crimes!”
And just like that, she took another turn—faster, smoother, and more effortlessly than anyone else—disappearing even further into the distance, leaving the others shouting in frustration behind her.
Lila gripped the steering wheel tightly, her knuckles turning white as she struggled to keep her kart steady.
The engine roared beneath her, but despite her best efforts, she could feel her kart slipping slightly with every turn.
Just behind of her was Anzo, who had been fighting tooth and nail to overtake her—but no matter how hard he pushed, she was still in front of him.
It was humiliating.
Anzo couldn’t believe it. Lila, of all people, was ahead of him. The shy, quiet girl who always hesitated in battle, the one he had mentally written off as weak, was beating him.
It wasn’t supposed to be like this.
And then—the race was over.
Beatrice, naturally, had crossed the finish line ages ago, making the rest of them look like a bunch of lost beginners fumbling around in their karts.
Anzo ripped off his helmet and let out a frustrated groan.
“This is impossible! There’s no way you won that fairly!”
Axel, still seated in his kart, let out a stunned laugh. “Yeah, I mean… wow. I expected Beatrice to be good, but that was insane.”
Blitz, however, wasn’t as calm. She jumped out of her kart and pointed a dramatic finger at Beatrice.
“Alright, confess! What kind of ungodly sorcery did you just pull?! No one drifts like that in a go-kart!”
Beatrice blinked, tilting her head. “I already told you. I loved go-karts as a kid, so I have some experience.”
Anzo crossed his arms. “No. Nope. Not buying it. You must have cheated somehow.” He turned to the group. “I say we go another round.”
Lila, still catching her breath, hesitated before raising a hand. “U-Um… maybe we should calm down a little?” she suggested weakly, but her voice was mostly drowned out by the ongoing argument.
Meanwhile, Miyu turned to Alister, her eyes sparkling with curiosity. “So, bro? Did you have fun?”

Alister glanced at his team—Blitz dramatically accusing Beatrice of hiding her secrets, Axel still in shock… or perhaps processing all that happened in silence, Anzo demanding a rematch, and Lila awkwardly trying to ease the rest of them.
A small smile spread on his lips as he folded his arms. “Yeah… I think so.”
Miyu smirked, folding her arms as she tilted her head at Alister. “Oh? Acting all high and mighty again? Just admit it—you had loads of fun out there.”
Alister sighed, then flicked her forehead.
“Owwww!” Miyu winced, rubbing the spot where he had flicked her.
“Big bro, stop it! Don’t you know that hurts?”
Before she could speak further, Cinder stepped forward. “Alister,” she said with admiration in her voice.
“You were amazing out there.”
Alister raised an eyebrow, chuckling. “Really? I don’t think I did anything that amazing.”
Mar’Garet, standing nearby with her arms crossed, nodded in agreement. “I must say, it wasn’t particularly impressive compared to your usual feats.”
Alister simply smiled at her blunt honesty. “Well, I guess you’re both right. But,” he gestured toward the rest of the amusement park, “there are still plenty of other things to check out. Why don’t you two join me?”
Before either of them could respond, Miyu suddenly stepped in.
“Nope.” She grabbed Mar’Garet by the wrist, pulling her away from Alister. “I’m borrowing her. We are going to go have fun—just the two of us.”
Mar’Garet blinked in surprise but didn’t resist. “Oh? And what exactly are we doing, my lady?”
Miyu grinned mischievously. “I’ll figure it out as we go.”
Alister just sighed as he watched Miyu drag Mar’Garet away, shaking his head. “She really does whatever she wants, huh?”
Cinder turned to look at him. “Would you rather she obey your every command?”
Alister scoffed. “No thanks. That would just be weird.”
As Miyu confidently pulled Mar’Garet along, making her way through the amusement park, Mar’Garet finally spoke up.
“So… what exactly are we doing, my lady?”
“Why must we be so far away from my darling?” she asked, glancing at Miyu with mild curiosity.
Miyu grinned, her golden eyes glimmering with excitement. “A bit of treasure hunting… and talks of romance!”
Mar’Garet blinked. “Romance?” she repeated, raising an eyebrow.
“Yep! Romance!” Miyu said cheerfully, tightening her grip on Mar’Garet’s wrist as she quickened her pace. “We’ll talk about that while we have our fun!”
Mar’Garet gave her a skeptical look but let herself be dragged along. “And what kind of fun are we talking about?”
Miyu tapped her chin playfully. “You’ll see~ But trust me, it’ll be worth it!”
Mar’Garet sighed but couldn’t help the small smile that appeared on her face. “I have a feeling I should be worried.”
Miyu laughed. “Oh, you definitely should.”
