Chapter 420: A Step Foward
Miyu lunged forward, her fists a blur as she threw everything she had into her attacks. Each punch came with full force, her strikes cutting through the air like blades. But Galisk? He moved effortlessly, weaving through her assault like a dancer, each dodge precise, each sidestep smooth.
“Too much weight on your front foot,” Galisk commented, tilting his head just enough to avoid a strike aimed at his jaw. “You’re telegraphing your punches—anyone with experience can see them coming.”
Miyu gritted her teeth, adjusting her stance before twisting into a roundhouse kick. Galisk simply leaned back, the wind from her strike ruffling his suit.
“Good effort, but you’re not controlling your center of gravity. You’re overextending,” he added, catching her wrist mid-punch and gently redirecting her momentum away.
Miyu clicked her tongue in frustration. She was giving it her all, but Galisk was treating this like a casual warm-up. Her fists clenched as she took a deep breath.
Then she attacked again.
Galisk saw the incoming punch and sidestepped as he had countless times before. But the moment he dodged—something shifted.
The wasteland around him flickered.
His body suddenly jolted, and in the blink of an eye, he was standing exactly where he had been a moment ago. His mind processed the disorientation just as a fist slammed into his ribs.
‘What—?!’
It wasn’t a heavy hit, barely enough to make him step back, but that wasn’t what made his eyes widen.
It was how it happened.
He had dodged. He knew he had dodged. But then he was back in the same position, as if reality had reset itself. And Miyu? She was somewhere else entirely, standing where she shouldn’t have been, grinning up at him with pure excitement.
“I can rewind time,” she said, bouncing on her heels. “I guess you didn’t see that coming, did you?”
Galisk stared at her for a long moment before chuckling, intrigued. “Now that’s interesting.”
Miyu stretched her arms, rolling her shoulders as she flashed Galisk a smug grin. “You said I was putting too much weight on my front foot, overextending, and telegraphing my attacks, right?”
Galisk raised an eyebrow, amused. “That’s right.”
“Then I’ll just have to not do them,” she said simply.
For a moment, her pupils contracted, and her golden eyes shimmered with focus. It was as if every mistake, every flaw he had pointed out, was being systematically erased from her form.
Galisk’s expression shifted. “Hold on now,” he said, holding up a hand. “Relax. You’re not going to master everything in one go—”
Before he could finish, Miyu was already moving.
She shot forward like a bullet, but this time—something was different.
Her footing was perfect. Her movements, fluid. Her center of gravity remained controlled, and there was no excess motion, no hesitation.
Galisk barely had a moment to dodge as a perfectly executed strike came for his ribs, forcing him to pivot at the last second. But before he could fully shift out of range, Miyu’s follow-up was already there—tight, precise, and relentless.
He leapt back, dodging on pure instinct.
A chuckle escaped his lips. “Someone’s a quick learner.”
Alister stood at the sidelines, arms crossed as he watched Miyu and Galisk go at it. A smirk spread on his lips—Miyu was growing fast, and Galisk, for all his composure, was actually having to pay attention now.
He let out a small chuckle and stretched. “Alright, you two have fun. I’ll see you later—I have something to take care of.”
Galisk nodded, still dodging Miyu’s strikes with ease. “Alright, we’ll see you later.”
Miyu, however, shot Alister a sharp look, still mid-combat. “You know we’re still gonna have that talk later, right?”

Alister let out a low chuckle, hands in his pockets. “Yeah, yeah. I got it.”
A golden portal shimmered into existence beside him, its swirling energy crackling faintly. He then stepped through.
Cinder, who had been watching silently, gave a casual wave as she followed. “Later, Miyu.”
Miyu grinned, giving a quick wave back. “Bye, Cinder!”
As soon as Cinder stepped through, the portal closed behind them.
On the other side, they were now in the Dragon Overlord’s castle.
Alister had already shifted into his dragon combat form, his long tail swaying behind him as his golden aura pulsed. His scales shimmered faintly beneath the light.
Cinder, on the other hand, looked entirely different.
She stood tall in a regal gown, its dark fabric adorned with beautiful crimson patterns. A red diamond-shaped mark pulsed on her forehead.
Alister paused for a moment, eyes narrowing slightly as he gazed at her. “I’ve never seen you look like that before.”
Cinder met his gaze, a small, knowing smile curving her lips. “It’s proof that I’m your Queen,” she said, raising a hand and flexing her fingers. “It seems I even feel more connected to you than I used to.”
Alister let out an amused exhale, stepping past her with a smirk. “You’re starting to have a way with words, dear.”
Walking down the grand hall, the dim glow of enchanted torches flickered against the polished stone, casting elongated shadows as they walked.
Suddenly, a shift in the air.
In a blink, Terra appeared before them, dropping gracefully to one knee. She bowed her head in respect to Alister.
“I pay my respects to the Overlord.”
“Raise your head.”
Terra obeyed, but when her gaze lifted and landed on Cinder, her eyes widened slightly.
“It seems much has happened since the last time I saw you,” she observed.
Cinder met her gaze with a smile. “Indeed.”
Terra nodded once before offering a small smile. “Then congratulations are in order—perhaps a ceremony as well. I’m sure you’ll make a fine queen to all of dragonkind.”
Cinder’s lips twitched at the title, but she inclined her head slightly in thanks. “I appreciate that, Terra. But I’d prefer if you still called me Cinder, like you normally do.”
Terra adjusted her glasses, the faintest trace of amusement flashing in her blue eyes. “Understood, Cinder.”
Alister, arms still loosely crossed, cut in with mild curiosity. “How did you manage to appear before us so quickly?”
A smirk spread across Terra’s lips. “I took the liberty of engraving runes in key places around the castle—for smoother movement.”
Alister’s gaze drifted to the side, his sharp eyes locking onto a glowing rune embedded in the wall. The sigil pulsed faintly before gradually dimming, evidence of recent activation.
“I see,” he murmured. “It appears your rune craft has improved. You are doing an amazing job.”
