Chapter 137: i choose you, LIU MEI!
The innkeeper, who had previously fled, returned with reinforcements. This time, he stood tall, a smug grin on his face as he pointed directly at Ace.
“BOSS! THAT’S HIM! THAT’S THE MAN RIGHT THERE!”
Behind him, a figure emerged, an elderly man, his presence alone radiating authority.
His sharp eyes gleamed with displeasure, his long silver beard swaying slightly as he scrutinized Ace.
But it wasn’t just the old man. Flanking him were two women, both striking in their own way.
The first had an icy beauty, her expression as cold and distant as a frozen lake in the dead of winter.
Her jade-like skin was smooth and flawless, untouched by imperfection, her delicate features giving her an ethereal air, one of those beauties that seemed untouchable, almost sacred.
Even the way she carried herself, arms crossed, posture perfect, made it clear she was no ordinary woman.
The second woman was the opposite, she exuded warmth, but in the most dangerous way possible.
Her smile was small but carried a hidden sharpness, like honey laced with poison.
Her curves were accentuated by a form-fitting robe, her every movement flowing like silk caught in the wind.
Unlike the first woman, whose coldness kept people at a distance, this one seemed to pull people in, like a moth to a flame.
Ace’s gaze flickered to them briefly. Objectively, they were stunning.
But as he studied them for a moment, he felt… nothing. No interest, no admiration, just an indifferent glance before looking away.
The old man, however, noticed Ace’s fleeting stare and instantly bristled. His lips twisted in anger, veins subtly bulging from his temple.
“You dare stare at my prized pupils even after causing trouble in the village?!” he barked, his voice carrying an edge of indignation.
Ace arched a brow. That was staring? He had barely looked.
Still, Ace wasn’t interested in wasting time. He turned to Liu Mei with an easy smile, completely unfazed by the old man’s rage.
“You can handle it.” he said smoothly.
Liu Mei’s eyes brightened, excitement flashing within them as she nodded firmly.
Without hesitation, she stepped forward, her small figure radiating a confidence.
The old man’s frown deepened as he watched Liu Mei approach.
Ace then took a step back, his gaze falling on Blind Dog and his sister. The frail girl lay motionless in her ragged clothes, her breathing shallow. He sighed.
“Blind Dog, let’s do something about your sister. I’ll carry her somewhere safe.”
The boy hesitated, clutching his hands together. “Can I come?” His voice was small, scared.
Ace offered a reassuring nod. “Of course. She’s your sister. You should be with her.”
Carefully, he bent down, lifting the girl into his arms. She was painfully light, as if a strong wind could carry her away.
Covered in layers of soot and grime, she barely stirred as Ace held her. With a slight shift in space, he vanished into the system space, taking Blind Dog with him.
The old man, still standing before Liu Mei, nearly burst a vein when he saw Ace disappear so casually. His face turned red with fury.
“That brat—! He dares ignore me?!” The veins in his forehead pulsed, his eqntire presence radiating indignation.

Liu Mei giggled, stepping forward, her hands clasped behind her back. “Old man, are you purposely ignoring me?”
Her voice was light, teasing. “That’s not very gentlemanly.”
She tilted her head, her long hair swaying slightly as she smiled innocently. But her fingers flexed, betraying her excitement.
Meanwhile, Lily stood at a distance, her eyes scanning the crowd of beggar children.
Sigh, Master, Lily thought to herself, rubbing her forehead. Why can’t you just take all these kids inside the system space too?
She shook her head. She understood Ace had his own way of doing things, but still…
Her gaze flickered toward the old man.
A Dark Gold rank? Here? That was a level of power rarely seen even in a remote city.
This village needs to be searched through thoroughly.
Lily’s grip tightened slightly as she stood in front of the children, ensuring they were protected.
Meanwhile, Liu Mei’s playful smile remained as she stared at the fuming old man.
“Well?” she asked, tilting her head. “Are we going to fight, or are you just going to keep glaring at my master’s shadow?”
The old man growled. “Impudent brat.”
Liu Mei’s eyes sparkled. “That’s more like it.”
In an instant, the ground beneath Liu Mei exploded, sending shockwaves through the air. Dust and debris shot up, momentarily obscuring her figure.
The old man didn’t celebrate. His instincts told him this wasn’t enough to take her down.
He whipped around and threw a punch into the air.
BANG!
His fist met Liu Mei’s in a thunderous clash, the impact sending both of them skidding backward.
A sharp gust of wind rippled through the crowd, forcing the bystanders to step back.
Everyone—except for Lily—stared in shock.
“H-How…” The old man muttered under his breath, his eyes narrowing as he steadied himself.
The little girl in front of him… had been a Dark Gold rank all along?
Before he could process the revelation, Liu Mei was already moving.
She’s fast!
Her mirage struggled to keep up with her true speed as she darted forward, her fist swinging for his chest.
He barely managed to deflect, his arms feeling the sting of her monstrous strength.
Just then, the two women beside him sprang into action.
They swiftly pulled out yellow talismans, muttering incantations under their breath before throwing them toward Liu Mei.
The air crackled as the charms ignited mid-air, distorting the space around them. Sharp golden chains erupted from within, twisting and snapping toward Liu Mei.
Liu Mei twisted her body, dodging them with precise, methodical movements.
But in that moment of evasion, a well-placed punch from the old man’s punch landed cleanly, shooting Liu Mei’s small frame through the ground.
She shot backward, smashing through a wooden cart, debris flying everywhere.
Then—
