Chapter 237: Capital Crisis [5]
“So this is a Blood General, huh…”
A young man traced a gloved finger along Yuu’s cheek, his touch lingering with unsettling fascination.
“What fine craftsmanship,” he murmured.
With a slow, deliberate turn, he strode toward the throne and sank into it with a flourish-lounging like a serpent basking in power.
His eyes gleamed with mockery as they flicked to the side.
“How’s my beloved youngest sister doing?” he asked, every word dripping with venomous charm.
Princess Soho sat chained to a cold iron pillar, her once-regal robes reduced to tatters, hair matted, her cultivation sealed. She looked up, her face defiant, despite the dirt and bruises.
She spat, the sound echoing through the throne room.
“You were already Crown Prince, Giyo. Next in line. You just couldn’t wait, could you? You murdered our mother… our father… all our siblings. Have you no shame? No remorse? You’re a monster!”
The young man didn’t even flinch.
“”If you weren’t of royal blood, Sister,” he said, voice flat, “I’d have thrown you to the peasants… I’m sure they’d love to entertain themselves with what’s left of your little dignity. So do behave. If you want to keep even that.”
The threat hung in the air like poison.
Just then, a guard rushed in, kneeling low.
“Your Highness! The Beta Squad has been… defeated.”
The air tensed.
The prince exhaled slowly, as if bored. “Send in the Sigma Squad… and the Alpha Squad.”
“But Your Highness—”
His gaze snapped to the guard.
“Did. I. Stutter?”
Each word fell like a blade, slicing through the silence.
The room froze. Silence descended like a shroud. Even the torches seemed to flicker quieter.
“Good. That’s what I expect from all of you—obedience.”
King Giyo Verilith leaned back in his throne, fingers drumming on the blood-red armrest.
“Be obedient, and I promise you a prosperous kingdom. That’s all I ask. Obedience.”
A cautious voice broke the silence.
“Your Majesty, may I speak?”
Giyo turned his head slowly toward the man who had dared interrupt.
It was Commander Bruno, tall and broad, sweat forming at his temples despite the cool palace air.
“Speak,” Giyo said flatly.
Bruno stepped forward and bowed deeply.

“Forgive me, Your Majesty. The commander of Beta Squad was a peak Dark Gold rank. If even he was killed, it means our enemy is… formidable. With your permission, I request to go and assess the situation myself—alongside Sigma and Alpha squads.”
Giyo’s eyes narrowed. His voice dropped to a low, dangerous drawl.
“Commander Bruno… are you doubting my judgment?”
Panic flickered in Bruno’s eyes. He dropped to one knee.
“N-No, Your Majesty! I would never—”
“Then why are you questioning my orders?”
Each word came slow. Deliberate. Measured like a blade before the strike.
“Did I. Stutter.”
The entire hall fell into suffocating silence.
Bruno’s face went pale.
“No, Your Majesty… forgive me. I only wish to serve.”
Giyo’s lips curled into a satisfied smile.
“Good. Then serve. Remember—obedience is all I demand.”
He then proceeds to issued a few curt orders before turning on his heel and leaving the throne room.
He strode through the palace chambers, his footsteps echoing against the marble floors like a quiet warning.
As he approached a certain room, the door creaked open and a half-dressed young man stumbled out in a panic, barely managing to cover himself as he fled.
Giyo didn’t spare him a glance.
Without breaking stride, he pushed the door open and stepped inside.
A thin, silk veil hung from the ceiling, obscuring most of the room beyond.
Behind it, shadows danced on the curtain, one unmistakably the shape of a woman straddling a man, her back arched, hair cascading down her spine like liquid ink.
The sound of rhythmic grinding and low, breathy moans seeped through the haze.
Giyo’s eyes narrowed, but he said nothing. He stood still, watching.
From behind the veil, the woman’s voice purred, sugar-sweet and laced with mockery.
“Oh my… Your Majesty’s come so soon. How impatient.”
“Ahem… Master, are you certain the holder of the Divine Garden will come here?” Giyo asked, averting his gaze.
The voice drifted from the shadows, soft, melodic, and laced with a disturbing sweetness.
It slithered across the room like silk over steel, both alluring and cold.
From the corner, a woman’s silhouette shifted. Her tone turned playful, mocking.
“Oh dear… and here I thought you had more faith in your master.”
A sharp intake of breath followed by a teasing moan echoed through the chamber.
“Tch—harder, fool. You won’t get me to finish if you’re this weak,” she chided, her voice a blend of frustration and pleasure.
She tilted her head back and glanced over her shoulder, her lips curling into a delighted smile.
“Ahh… Your Majesty, don’t worry too much.” Her eyes glowed faintly.
“The holder of the Divine Garden will come. And when he does, with this pill I’m refining… you’ll have complete control over it.”
Giyo gave a shallow bow, his voice clipped.
“Alright, Master. I’ll leave you to your work.”
A soft moan followed, teasing, laced with wicked delight.
“Mmm… ahh, Giyo, won’t you join us? I’d surely enjoy more company,” her voice called out, lilting with amusement and something darker beneath.
Giyo didn’t look back.
“No, Master,” he said stiffly and turned on his heel, exiting the chamber in haste.
Outside, he exhaled, cold fury simmering just beneath the surface.
“You there,” he barked, his gaze landing on a nearby royal guard.
The guard approached quickly, clad in pitch-black armor, the silver dragon sigil gleaming on his chestplate.
“Your Majesty?”
“Go to the prison,” Giyo ordered. “Select a few prisoners, strong ones, hale and restless. Drag them into that chamber.”
The guard gave a crisp salute. “As you command.”
Without another word, Giyo walked off, his footsteps sharp and with each steps at he walks, he let his soul aura rise slowly, steadily.
Warrior rank. Silver. Then Gold.
Dark Gold.
Finally… stopping at initial Legend rank.
“Let’s see which fools still dare defy me now.”
