Chapter 22: A deal with Alpha Ramsey…
Cassidy
Present day…
I watched with concealed frustration as Ramsey told his grandfather several times that he wasn’t interested in making me his Personal Assistant. I didn’t miss the irritation in his eyes when I first entered his office.
One thing I knew about Ramsey is if his mind was made up about something, nothing on earth would make him change it.
“Pop-pop!” I called his grandfather fondly, placing my hand on his and batting my eyelids shyly. “Can you allow me to talk to Ramsey? I’ll just tell him why I need to intern here and we would have to wait for him to think it over and make his choice.”
I felt him hesitate, so I pressed further in a conspiratorial tone. “I know how to make him do what I want, don’t worry,”
Finally, he nodded and excused himself, leaving us alone in the office. As soon as he was gone, Ramsey turned to me and said coldly.
“You can drop the act now, Cassidy. My grandfather is not here and I know this was your idea, but you’re not becoming my assistant. It is enough that I am marrying you. This conversation is over.”
I smiled coolly, my finger tapping against the screen of my phone. “You know, Ramsey, I had hoped you’d see reason without me having to do this, but it seems like I need to be a bit more persuasive.”
He was already at the door, so he stopped mid-step, and turned to me, regarding me with disdain. “What are you talking about?”
Without a word, I walked up to him and held my phone in front of him, my thumb hovering over the play button.
“I think you’ll want to see this.” I pressed play, and the video filled the screen.
There on the screen was a video of him and Lyla in the garden. The sound of rustling leaves and soft moans echoed through the room as the scene played.
I heard his sharp intake of breath when he saw himself on the screen—him and Lyla—their bodies tangled together in passionate lovemaking.
But I knew it wasn’t just the video that suddenly made his eyes turn into slits. It was his declaration—when he had called Lyla ‘Mate’ and marked her afterwards. I stopped the video and stepped away from him.
“Where did you get that?” he growled. “Delete it now!”
I laughed. “Oh no, Ramsey. I’m not deleting anything. In fact, I think this little recording is going to be very useful to me.”
“Is this about not marrying you?” he spat, running a hand through his hair. “You win. It’s you who will be my wife and not her. Satisfied?”
“No!” I shook my head.
He narrowed his eyes at me and then asked. “Why? Why are you doing this?”
I levelled a stare at him as my eyes darkened. “Because I’ve spent my entire life training to be the Luna of White Moon Throne. Do you know how long I had to starve to be a size zero? Or all the nasty things I had to take so I could qualify to be your Luna. I’ll be damned if I let that half-breed deviant steal it all away from me.”
Ramsey’s eyes flashed with anger at my words. “Don’t you dare speak about Lyla that way? She’s…”
“Your mate?” I cut him off. “Yes, I heard, twice in the video and that day at the gala. You looked like you were going to fuck her right in the middle of the hall. But tell me, Ramsey, what do you think would happen if this video got out? How would the pack react to their Lycan Leader rutting shamelessly in the garden with a wolfless woman? How would the other Alphas and oh, your grandfather… how would they react to the great Lycan Leader, owner of the White Moon throne choosing a deviant as his mate? Acting like he’s an Omega… couldn’t you have just fucked in your room or something? Geez!”
“Don’t threaten me, Cassidy!” he growled. “I am your Leader. How dare you make a video of me at my intimate moment?”
“Oh! I’m shivering with fear!” I laughed. “The chaos that will happen in the White Mountains when this video comes to light!” I sighed, gazing at the ceiling wistfully. “It’ll be better if we’re attacked by those Feral Wolves than witnessing the fight. But what do I care…” I shrugged delicately. “I’m used to doing whatever I want. I’ll just post the video.”
His face paled. “You wouldn’t dare.”
“Wouldn’t I?” I scoffed.
“Let me be clear, Ramsey Kincaid. If you don’t agree to make me your assistant and commit to our engagement, I will release this video and it won’t be just you who suffers. Poor, sweet Lyla would be caught in the crossfire, too. Not only her image and that of her family would be tarnished, her father might be asked to step down as Alpha and you know your grandfather—he’ll need someone to blame. Who do you think he’ll choose? The White Moon Throne heir, which is you or the strange wolfless deviant who seduced him?”
“Lyla has nothing to do with you, Cassidy. She’s a woman like you. If this gets out…” he trailed off, his tone becoming softer. “She didn’t ask for this—we didn’t. And she sure as hell didn’t ask for me to be her mate. Stop this, Cassidy… this is so beneath you.”

“Is it?” anger flared in my chest. “You turned me into a monster, Ramsey. You’ve repeatedly thrown your indiscretions in my face. You left me for that stupid Omega girl in elementary school just because she could do what? Is it a fetish or what? Why do you always go for these weak women?”
“Maybe if you tried being a woman for once in your life, Cassidy. You’re so manipulative and wicked. What you did to that Omega… I can never forgive you.”
“That was because you left me no choice!” I yelled.
Then took a deep breath, composing myself. “And you did it again. Do you know what it felt like to sit through dinner that night, the night that was supposed to be the first introduction for both our families, only to find out that you ran off like a weakling to see her? I had a warrior tail you, Ramsey. I know you went to the Healer’s quarters—not even the pack hospital… you had her at the Healer’s quarters. You didn’t even try to pretend that you wanted me. You humiliated me in front of my parents.”
“I did no such thing, Cassidy,” he sighed.
“Yes, you did!” I bellowed. “You made zero attempt to try to please my family as someone who wants their precious daughter and you ran off before dinner ended. How thoughtless can you be? Is that how little I mean to you?”
“Then let me go, goddammit!” he screeched. “You claim I’ve mistreated you, then let me breathe. I’m so tired of doing this again and again. I don’t love you… I cannot bring myself to love someone like you. We have nothing in common.”
“A lot of marriages these days are not built on love, Ramsey. So, we’ll be fine. Besides, I love you and I want you. If I can’t have you, then no one else would. By the way,” I dropped on the couch in the office.
“I was so furious when I found out you went to see that deviant, so furious that I might have… let slip a few pack members about our mysterious guest. And those photos of you two at the gala? I made sure they found their way to the right newspaper editors.”.
“You…” he started, but I cut him off.
“I’m not finished. If you don’t do exactly as I say, I’ll make a few more calls and the entire region will know that the Lycan leader is breaking rules for a deviant. I’ll make sure there’s enough chaos and scandal to see you impeached and removed as Lycan Leader. Is that what you want, Ramsey? To lose everything you’ve worked for?”
The room fell silent as he absorbed my words. I could see the conflict raging in his eyes. His duty to the pack warring with his feelings for Lyla.
Finally, he spoke, his voice barely above a whisper. “What do you want from me?”
“Nothing much!” I rose to my feet and walked to where he was. “You’re going to make me your personal assistant, as your grandfather suggested. You’ll announce our engagement at the end of this month. Cut off ties with Lyla. Send her away, reject her, I don’t care. Just make sure she’s out of the picture and when we get married, I’ll delete it. Everybody wins—you keep your position; I get the future I’ve worked so hard for.”
“I already rejected her!” he hissed. “You don’t have to worry about Lyla.”
“As you should. Bravo!”
“Fine!” he continued. “I’ll do what you ask, but know this, Cassidy—I will never forgive you for this and don’t think for a second that I’m doing this because I want to.”
I chuckled, unfazed by his threat.
“I don’t need your forgiveness, Ramsey. I just need your cooperation. Also, I don’t care why you’re doing this as long as you follow through. You’ll see in time that this is for the best. We’ll be a power couple and the White Moon Throne will thrive under us.”
As he turned to leave, I called out to him.
“Oh, and Ramsey? Don’t even think about trying to outsmart me. I have copies of that video hidden where you’ll never find them. If anything happens to me, or if you try to go back on our deal, it all comes out. Understood?”
