The Arcane God - Chapter 39
Chapter 39: Integration
Oberon glanced at Oscar and said. “Oxcar, after sensing the ripples of your essence crystal today, I believe that your essence power value should be around sixty. Nevertheless, Yara will still do the testing for you when I get back, okay?”
“Yes, master. Thank you, sir.” Oscar agreed, thinking in his heart.
So the power value of an egg-sized essence crystal is about sixty. My own essence crystal is also the size of an egg, but since it’s black, I don’t know how much essence power it’ll have.
“Okay, everyone, it’s time for food. After eating, I will go back to my chamber to do some research. Then starting from tomorrow, I will add some theoretical lessons to your studies addition to your physical training. Oxcar, since you are joining a bit late, you have to slowly make up for your physical training as from tomorrow.” Oberon ordered.
“Yes, master.” Oscar responded. He wanted to ask Oberon if it was only him and no other elemental masters in the branch, but saw that everyone had already started to eat.
No, it looked more like they were greedily grabbing the food on the table, especially the young fat boy, Zachar, who was really living up to his name.
Just like a lunatic, he kept stuffing vegetables into his mouth, as if he didn’t see master Oberon around. Well, master Oberon was the same. He didn’t even behave like a master either, grappling for food with this group of children and eating happily.
Oscar glanced at the chef, who was sitting by the door, slowly turning around and looking at the happy people eating, grinning, and wondered where in God’s name he landed himself in.
The night in the mountains came faster and darker than in the plains.
At this time, the sun was setting to the west, and nightfall was rising to the east, creating a twilight zone where the black and white rays of the sun and moon collided.
Inside the quiet compound of the branch of the Mystic Peaks Academy, a few magical lights were lit to give brightness to the area.
Among the five students, three were magic users, and since their essence was arcane energy, they could only harness ether in the morning while night was their time to practice their magic.
Maya, Yara and Zachar were all preparing themselves in the house. The moment the sun completely disappeared, they would start practicing.
From the moment they enrolled in the academic branch, Oberon had asked them to develop the habit of practicing instead of sleeping at night.
For Lester, a swordmaster who was based on martial energy, he was better suited to practicing during the day, night was the time for him to acquire other theoretical knowledge about swordsmanship.
It was also possible for him to spend some time sleeping, but Oberon would occasionally come over at night to check on his study.
And Lester was also very conscious of the difficulty of becoming a battlemaster in the future, hence he had never been lazy since he entered academy.
In the silence of the night, a faint green emissions from the stars slowly converged on the roof of the room allocated to Oscar before disappearing in a flash.
A few seconds later, he jumped down from the roof, gently opened the door to his room, and stepped inside as if nothing had happened.
In the early morning, Oscar gradually woke up from his practice. After a night of rest and two training sessions, the fatigue of the past two months had been swept away.
Pushing open the door, he couldn’t help stretching and taking a breath of fresh air.
In the early hours of the morning, the air in the mountains felt a lot cooler, and was unusually freshening. It was very comfortable, and quite similar to the memory of the feeling he always had in the Ironwood tribe.
This was totally different from his previous life in the big cities where there was no pure feeling like this at all.
Oscar began to feel grateful that this branch of the academy was not in the city like the main academy. At least that would give him some memory of his decimated tribe.
From far away, he saw the old chef, squatting at the door of the kitchen, patting his big smoke pipe, squinting and watching him stretched his arms and legs as if in a daze.
He didn’t know what the old man was thinking, but there was a strange sense of feeling around him, something archaic?
“Good morning, sir.” Oscar greeted politely when he saw the old man looking at him. “You’re up so early.”
“Good morning, young man. You can just call me Master Calder.”
“Okay, Master Calder.”

Calder stood up, stretched his leg and put out the ashes in his smoke pipe. Afterwards, he loaded up new dried leaves and said. “The meal I’m preparing will take a while longer to get done, that’s why I woke up earlier. Anyway, why don’t you walk around while I finish with it?”
“Yes, Mister Calder.” Oscar agreed and walked around slowly in the courtyard. It was already evening when he came yesterday, and he didn’t have time to familiarize himself with the layout of the entire branch.
The Mystic Peaks Branch was built on the mountainside as he already knew, but the terrain here was relatively flat. A total of eleven huts were lined up on both sides of the wooden gate, only ten meters away from the courtyard wall.
The floor of the premises was entirely paved with bluestone slabs, which was very flat.
Standing there, he could see both the mountain and the distant landscape. It was really a good place to relax.
On the other side of the compound was a relatively open training ground, which was not flat, but formed a gentle slope according to the mountain’s shape, about the size of a coliseum.
The training ground was brightly lit, with exposed rocks, which should have been artificially created.
But in the middle of the training ground, there was a towering tree with luxuriant branches, which was quite gratifying. There was a large piece under the tree, and it was the only place on the playground where there was soil.
In addition to these, the entire courtyard was full of woods. A stone road, winding through the woods, went from one end to the other, forming a zig-zag semicircle connecting the two ends of the training ground.
When Oscar came out of the woods, he saw Maya, Yara and Zachar coming out of their respective huts and began to train.
