The Arcane God - Chapter 54
Chapter 54: Echoes of A Forgotten World
Oscar looked around Oberon’s chamber in surprise, forgetting about the secret Twilight Skill that was just discovered by the branch master.
How could these weapons be here too? They shouldn’t have existed in this world according to the words of the remnant.
He saw tens of ether bows, spears, swords and staffs, hanging on the walls of Oberon’s chamber. They were in different sizes and shapes. There were more than five kinds of each weapon.
“How come there are so many ether weapons here?” Oscar murmured, walking up to the wall in a daze, he raised his hand and took off a bow from the wall.
No, it was not a real etherbow, but just a model?
In his previous life, he had played games such as Crisis, Legend of Zelda and Horizon Forbidden West, and he was fairly good in them.
So he knew quite a bit about arcane weapons. Then, he was taught about ether weapons by the remnant when he came to this world.
Oscar tried to pull the bow, but there was no ether grid attached to it, so a conjured arrow couldn’t be notched on its string.
He took one of the swords, examined it and exclaimed inwardly in utter surprise. He stared at the weapon in his hand for a while, as if he was in a trance.
How could the branch master know about these things?
Oberon looked at the boy’s strange behavior, heard him say the words “ether weapons”, and also woke up from his own shocking trance. He quietly watched Oscar changed the ether bow in his hand, one by one.
How could the bow feel so familiar to him? These modified weapons were what he had seen during his death trance, many years back. Could it be that Oxcar has had a similar experience too?
Time passed by, minute by minute, and after a while, the two of them finally locked eyes, but both were full of curiosity.
“Oxcar, did you say these things are called ether weapons?” Oberon asked, glancing at the weapons that had troubled him for more than ten years.
Oscar lowered his head and put his eyes back on the Etherbow in his hand. Should he tell him about his guardian? This mage master could have been transmigrated with memories of an ancient world, just like himself.
Otherwise he shouldn’t be able to make models of these things.
Although they were obviously crude imitations, they seemed to have been designed by the mage elder himself.
He collected his thought and answered. “Yes, master. These things are called ether weapons.”
Oberon asked eagerly. “How did you know what they are called? Where did you see them before now?”
“Master, these things are not from our world.” Oscar sorted out his thoughts and finally thought of a way, and said slowly.
“Yes, yes, these things are not from this world. They are made from my memory.”
“I’m also surprised to see them here, master.”
Tell me, where did you see them before?”
Oscar glanced at Oberon in surprise, and said while thinking. “It was two months ago when the dreads attacked my village, killing my clansmen. While injured, I saw myself floating in the air before I was knocked out by the attack of the dreads.”
“I’m listening.”
The more Oscar talked, the clearer his thoughts became, so he was able to create a flowing story. “But I wasn’t injured by the attack, instead I seemed to have been transported into a different world. I felt like I was flying above the sky, but I couldn’t see my body. What surprised me even more was that I saw the humans, from an old time, on the ground fighting and killing each other with these weapons.”
“With these weapons?”
“Yes, master. At that time, I was completely shocked. While still in the air, I saw that the weapons were not ordinary bows but magical types. With just one pull of the string, they could kill or injure many enemy thousands of meters away.” Oscar replied, and took the ether bow to demonstrate for a moment.
Oberon suddenly widened his eyes and nodded vigorously, completely immersed in the revelation.
So, Oscar said with more confidence. “Since I could fly in that place, I flew over to them, but they didn’t seem to notice my existence. I heard them call these weapons, ethers, and I found that there were many types of such weapons in their hands, all with great powers.”

“”Hm.” Oberon seemed to have fallen into some kind of contemplation.
“When I wanted to study it more carefully, I suddenly woke up. I thought I was dreaming, but now, here we are. I didn’t expect to see these things here today.” Seeing that the mage master was lost in thought, Oscar quickly ended the story he made up.
After a long time of thinking, Oberon looked at Oscar and said. “Oxcar, there are some things I don’t want to let you know before, because of you knowing too soon, but I didn’t expect you to have had similar experiences to mine. Aren’t all these the wills of the gods? This must be fate, child.”
Oberon turned around and looked at the wall full of ether weapons, and seemed to fall into silence again.
“Master, what’s wrong?” Oscar asked carefully.
“Oh, it’s nothing to worry about.” Oberon turned around and waived his hand. “Anyway, you must be asking yourself why I made these strange weapons in the first place ?”
Oscar nodded in response.
“Oxcar, there’s a story I want to tell you. So have your seat first.” Oberon turned around, looked at the wall full of etherbows, and said slowly. “This story relates to why I was eager to accept you as my student without giving you any trials. But most importantly, it’s also related to your parents. ”
“My parents?!” Oscar was shocked. Master Oberon knew something relating to his parents? Did it had anything to do with his father’s loss of his power base as a refiner?
He had been asking his parents many questions, but they had always been strict and refused to tell him anything.
What his parents were only telling him was to wait until he was strong enough to shoulder the truth. But he didn’t expect that due to the invasion of the dreads, his parents would leave the world prematurely.
His uncle, Wynter, the only one who knew the truth about them, was also missing, probably dead.
Oscar had thought that he would never knew secret for the rest of his life, but now, everything changed. He didn’t expect the mage master to bring up things relating to his parents.
Could it be that the branch master would tell him the nature of these secrets?
“Before I tell you about your parents, it’s important we talk about my journey, thirty years ago.” Oberon muttered, paused for a few seconds, then continued. “When I was seventeen years old and was graduating from this Mystic Peaks Academy…”
