The Bigshot's Superstar Wife - Chapter 23
Chapter 23: Work Together
Athena awoke to the savory aroma of roasted fish and the sweet tang of ripe fruits wafting through the air. Did he cook? Does he know how?
As her eyes fluttered open, she noticed a makeshift covering draped over the entrance of the cave, skillfully woven from bamboo and leaves.
Did he learn my weaving technique from yesterday? she thought, mildly impressed. For someone who rarely showed his hands-on skills, this was quite remarkable.
But the moment she tried to move, a sharp ache coursed through her body, making her wince. The soreness was like a stubborn reminder of the night’s… activities.
He really broke me too much last night, she thought, suppressing a groan. I can barely feel my legs. Is this the life of the married?
With great effort, Athena took a deep breath and forced herself to her feet, each movement a painful reminder of the passion and chaos that had consumed them.
She gathered her remaining strength to clean herself and change into fresh clothes, biting back the complaints threatening to escape her lips.
I feel so sore. As she moved about, she noticed something peculiar, the mess from last night was completely gone.
The torn clothes, scattered remnants, and any evidence of their heated encounter were nowhere to be found.
How thoughtful of him, she mused, a flicker of gratitude breaking through her discomfort. When she finally sat down, she inspected the meal Mors had prepared.
The fish was perfectly roasted, its crispy golden skin inviting, while the fruits were neatly sliced and arranged.
She took a bite, savoring the flavors, but her mind wandered to another detail that struck her as odd. Amazing. He can cook well!
Her skin carried the faint scent of healing cream, the kind commonly used across the interstellar colonies to soothe aches and speed recovery.
Did he even apply some to my body? she wondered, her cheeks heating slightly at the thought. I thought it was impossible to use things not given by the crew.
She glanced at the cave’s entrance, half-expecting Mors to appear.
Though her body was sore, and the memory of last night still burned vividly in her mind, a quiet warmth spread in her chest. I felt embarrassed…
He may be rough and enigmatic, but moments like these reminded her that beneath his stoic exterior was someone capable of tenderness and care, even if he didn’t always say it out loud.
Should I call myself lucky? Athena stepped out of the cave into the bright daylight, her gaze immediately landing on Mors.
The major general stood near the half-built hut, topless, with his well-defined muscles gleaming faintly under the sun.
His army pants hung low on his hips, completing the rugged and commanding image. Were his clothes also broken last night? How come he’s lacking clothes today?
“You…” Athena began, momentarily at a loss for words.
Mors stopped what he was doing and turned to look at her, his expression calm but questioning. “Have you eaten?” he asked, his deep voice carrying over the rustling leaves.
“I did, thank you,” Athena replied, quickly regaining her composure. He’s acting weird!
[Oh my stars, he’s topless! Did we tune into a fashion show or a survival program?]
[Who allowed this? My heart can’t handle it!]
[Do you think his abs are weapons-grade? They look sharper than the knives they’re using.]
[Stop simping! Remember, he’s married now. Respect the Major’s privacy.]
[Respect the Major’s privacy? The stream’s live 15 hours a day, this is public domain now!]
[Sheesh, look at the major general showing off. And in front of Athena no less.]

[Will he remember that he has a wife?]
[Who’s her? Do you mean his wife? We don’t even know if his marriage is true or false.]
[Stay mad, Athena’s living your dream. Not even the Major’s wife can compare!]
[Honestly, I’m so jealous I could cry. She gets this view every day for free.]
[Bet she doesn’t appreciate it as much as we do. She’s too used to it. She must have worked with so many hot men in shows before.]
[Excuse you, have you seen how she looks at him? That’s not someone taking things for granted.]
[She looks at him normally! Stop your green thoughts.]
[I’m just here for survival tips. Didn’t sign up for this drama, but I’m staying.]
[Low-key shipping them now. They’re such a power couple. But does anyone else think they’re hiding something?]
[Forget secrets, just zoom in on his biceps again, please!]
[This show is supposed to be about survival. All I see is thirst.]
[Will Madam Mors out there… be jealous?]
Athena ignored the imagined chaos of the live stream and moved to where some bamboo was neatly stacked. We need to finish the small house soon.
She began weaving it into walls and window covers, her hands deft and precise despite the lingering soreness in her body.
Mors noticed her movements and walked over, lowering his voice so only she could hear. “Your body isn’t well yet. Go and rest some more. Let me do the work.”
Athena paused briefly but then shook her head firmly. “The universe is watching. I can’t slack off or let you do all the tasks alone. This isn’t heavy or burdensome, I can manage.”
Mors gave her a long, measured look, clearly debating whether to press the issue. Finally, he relented with a small sigh. “Fine. But if it gets too much, you’ll tell me.”
“Of course,” Athena replied with a faint smile, already returning to her work. Though he didn’t push further, Mors stayed close, keeping a watchful eye on her.
Whenever Athena needed materials or tools, he anticipated it and handed them to her before she could ask. He is really thoughtful.
When a splinter pricked her finger, he stopped what he was doing, gently taking her hand and examining it. How could I be so careless?
Their silent cooperation spoke volumes, though the live stream audience had their own thoughts about their dynamic.
[Look at the way he’s hovering over her. Protective much?]
[He’s totally whipped. And I’m here for it.]
[Seriously, though, she’s better at weaving than I expected. Didn’t think stars had survival skills.]
[I’m convinced she’s hiding some past. No way a celebrity knows how to weave bamboo that well.]
[Maybe she’s a secret agent. Imagine that twist.]
[Or she’s just talented. Some people are multi-skilled, you know.]
[Talk about unfair.]
[Leave her alone. She’s proving she’s more than just a pretty face.]
