Chapter 59: I Chose You (Special Chapter)
The battle raged on in the desolate cavern, the air thick with the acrid scent of blood and magic.
Xanveris, the second demigod, loomed like a terrifying specter, his form wreathed in dark power.
He had been toying with Alishiera, his mocking laughter echoing through the walls as she fought with every ounce of strength she had left.
Her body trembled from the strain, the forbidden spell she had cast continuing to burn away at her soul.
Yet, her eyes were steadfast, filled with the one thing that kept her going, determination.
The once-pristine blades of Arthivian and Elsienflora now crackled with energy, their radiance dimmed but no less fierce.
They were extensions of her will, and she would not allow them to fail. Every strike she made was a desperate prayer.
Every movement was a plea for victory, for her husband, for her children, and for the empire.
Xanveris swung his massive, clawed hands with terrifying force, each strike sending shockwaves that reverberated through the cavern.
Alishiera barely managed to dodge one blow, her feet slipping on the rocky floor.
She was exhausted, and her body felt as though it was being torn apart by the powers she had called upon.
Yet she fought on, knowing that her mission was not just to defeat this demigod but to protect her family.
“I will not let you take him from me,” she whispered, more to herself than to Xanveris. With a savage cry, Alishiera charged forward, her swords raised high.
Xanveris laughed, anticipating the attack, and with a flick of his wrist, he summoned a massive wave of shadow to crush her. But Alishiera was prepared.
She leaped into the air, her swords cutting through the darkness like knives through cloth.
The surge of power that followed from her prayer had given her a brief moment of clarity, allowing her to strike with deadly precision.
She brought Arthivian down on Xanveris’s chest, cracking through his armor. The demigod roared in pain, but it was not enough to stop him.
Xanveris snarled and swiped at her, his claws grazing her side. Alishiera stumbled, her vision blurring from the impact. Her healing prayers, though potent, could only do so much.
The damage was done, her body was beyond its limits. But she couldn’t stop. Not now.
With a final, desperate move, Alishiera summoned every ounce of strength left in her. She raised both swords, crossing them above her head.
The sky itself seemed to darken as the combined power of Arthivian and Elsienflora collided, creating a surge of blinding light that consumed the battlefield.
The force of the explosion was deafening, shaking the very foundations of the cavern.
When the light dissipated, Xanveris lay in a heap, his body disintegrating into the very shadows that had once given him life.
For a moment, there was silence. Alishiera stood there, panting, her hands trembling as she lowered her swords.
Her heart was heavy with the knowledge of what had just transpired. She had won, but at what cost? The victory felt hollow in her chest.
The moment Xanveris’s body disappeared, a wave of magic swept through the second domain.
The demon army, which had once filled the world with terror, collapsed.
The shadows receded, the fires extinguished, and the darkness that had once gripped the land began to lift.
Devancier, who had been bound in the corner of the cavern, was finally freed from the chains that had held him prisoner.

His body trembled with exhaustion, but his eyes locked onto Alishiera. His heart skipped a beat as he saw her standing, battered and bruised, but victorious.
He had always known her strength, but this… this was something beyond what he had ever imagined.
“Alishiera…” His voice was hoarse, filled with both relief and fear. He stumbled toward her, his legs shaking.
She turned to face him, her expression softening as she met his gaze. But when she smiled, it was a fragile, fleeting thing.
She was not the same woman who had walked into this battle. The price of her victory was written in every line of her face, in the way her body swayed with exhaustion.
“We’re going home, Alishiera,” Devancier said, his voice filled with a sense of finality, as if the battle was over. As if they had won, and now they could return to their family.
But Alishiera shook her head. Her gaze flickered to the distance, beyond the cavern where the other two demigods had fallen.
She knew what was coming. Her mission was not over. There was still one more to face.
“No, Devancier. We can’t go home yet. I still have to finish what I started.” Her voice was strained, and she could feel the blood drain from her face.
The healing prayer had restored her to some semblance of normalcy, but it was a façade.
The damage had already been done. Her body, her essence, had been irrevocably depleted. She would not make it back home if she didn’t end this now.
Devancier’s eyes widened. “What are you talking about? You’ve already defeated two demigods. That should be enough.”
But Alishiera did not falter. She stepped forward, her hand gripping his. “I must end the third demigod. For the empire. For our children. And for us.”
Devancier’s heart clenched, but he did not protest. He could see the determination in her eyes, the same fire that had always driven her, even when it had cost her everything.
He wanted to argue, to tell her that she needed rest, that she needed to come home, but he knew it would be useless.
Alishiera had always been this way. Her duty was everything, and it was not something she could escape, even in the face of death.
“We’ll rest,” she said, her voice softening. “Just a little while. Then we’ll go.”
But Devancier could see through her now.
He could see the fragility in her posture, the way her breath came in shallow gasps, the way her eyes glinted with something far darker than mere fatigue.
She was fading, and he couldn’t stop it.
“I will stay by your side,” he said, his voice firm, his heart heavy with fear.
Alishiera gave him a weak smile, one that did not reach her eyes. “I know you will.”
For the moment, they allowed themselves a brief respite. They rested in the cold, dark cavern, knowing that the final battle awaited them.
But Alishiera’s heart ached with the knowledge that no matter what happened next, she was already paying the ultimate price for her choices.
