Chapter 60: I’ll Ask You (Special Chapter)
The final stretch of their journey had brought Alishiera and Devancier to the heart of the third domain, the largest and most dangerous of the demon realms.
The atmosphere was thick with an oppressive energy that weighed heavily on their hearts and minds.
The land stretched out before them in desolation, burnt forests, shattered mountains, and a sky perpetually stained with dark clouds.
This was a place where life had long since been swallowed by darkness, a vast, cursed expanse where demonic forces were strongest.
Alishiera could feel the tension in the air, the heavy pressure of countless demons watching from the shadows.
She held Elsienflora tightly, the sword of the saintess princess, the blade that had healed her many times and magnified her power.
Arthivian, the crown prince’s sword, pulsed at her side, a dark force she had come to rely on, despite its dangers.
Devancier stood beside her, his golden eyes hard as steel. His once-pristine armor was battered, but it was a reflection of his own determination.
Together, they had faced impossible odds, but this was different. This was the final battle.
“We are not just fighting for ourselves now,” Alishiera whispered, her voice low but steady. “We fight for them, our children, the empire, the future.”
Devancier nodded, understanding the weight of her words. The demon forces that awaited them were innumerable, and each step forward felt like it might be their last.
But they had no choice. They had already given too much. The fate of everything they loved rested on this moment.
The demons emerged, as if summoned by the earth beneath their feet.
They poured from the darkness like an endless flood, their twisted forms, claws, and fangs gleaming in the dim light.
There were thousands, more than they could ever have imagined. Alishiera’s heart beat faster, but she held firm. There was no turning back now.
She raised Elsienflora, and with a single command, the blade flared with brilliant light.
The healing power of the sword surged through her body, rejuvenating her even as the exhaustion from her previous battles weighed her down.
Devancier gripped Arthivian, his own blade crackling with dark energy.
He was ready for battle, and though he could feel the toll the war had taken on his body, he was determined to protect everything he held dear.
The first wave of demons crashed into them, and Alishiera’s swords became an extension of her will.
Elsienflora blazed with holy light as it cleaved through the demons in front of her, cutting them down with swift, precise strikes.
She moved with a fluid grace, each movement a dance of destruction.
The demons were powerful, but they were no match for the combined might of the two legendary swords, and the strength of the love that fueled Alishiera’s every action.
Devancier fought with the ferocity of a lion, his every strike guided by years of training and unshakable resolve.
Arthivian surged with lightning, tearing through the ranks of demons as though they were nothing more than paper.
Yet, the demons kept coming. Wave after wave, their numbers seemed endless. The battle seemed like it would never end, and Alishiera could feel herself beginning to waver.
She had pushed her body and her soul to the brink, and every strike she made felt slower than the last.
But she couldn’t stop. Not now. Not when everything was on the line.
Devancier’s voice cut through the chaos. “Alishiera, we have to get to the heart of this domain. We can’t keep fighting like this forever.”

She nodded, her determination unwavering. “We’ll end this. Together.”
They pushed forward, their swords cutting through the battlefield, leaving a trail of destruction in their wake.
Yet, despite their efforts, the demon forces continued to surge forward, relentless in their assault.
And then, just as they reached the center of the domain, a sudden stillness fell over the battlefield.
The demons paused, as if sensing something beyond their understanding.
Alishiera and Devancier looked up in confusion, their swords at the ready, when a figure appeared before them.
It was a child.
The demon child stood before them, no older than five years old, his face innocent and unmarked by the horrors of battle.
His eyes, however, were ancient, filled with an unsettling knowledge that belied his youthful appearance.
He wore a dark cloak, the hem of which seemed to shift and move like the night itself. In his hands, he held nothing but an eerie, serene calm.
Alishiera’s heart clenched in her chest. There was something about the child that tugged at her heart, a resemblance to something she had seen before, but it was impossible to place.
Her children. Her thoughts screamed. The child before her reminded her of her own children, of the innocence she had fought so desperately to protect. But she couldn’t forget the truth.
The child looked at them and then spoke, his voice a haunting whisper that echoed through the silence. “Would you sacrifice your children for the sake of peace and victory?”
Alishiera felt her breath catch in her throat. She looked at Devancier, her eyes pleading for him to understand, to answer truthfully.
She knew the child’s words held the weight of something much darker, something beyond what they could comprehend.
“No,” Devancier said firmly, his golden eyes flashing with a mixture of defiance and sorrow. “We would never sacrifice our children.”
The child’s expression did not change, but there was something deep in his gaze, something that spoke of a terrible, forgotten truth.
His lips parted slightly as he chuckled, the sound soft and sad.
“Do you truly believe that? My brothers… they died because their mother sacrificed them. I was not born of a woman. I was born from the will of the demons. Our mother, she was not human at all. She was a chosen one, a carrier for the demons, a vessel to offer up her children as sacrifices in exchange for wealth and power.”
Alishiera and Devancier stood frozen, the weight of the words crashing over them.
The child’s eyes began to glisten with tears, his small frame shaking as he continued, his voice cracking with emotion.
“You, too, would sacrifice your children, wouldn’t you?” the child whispered. “But you would never know, would you? The price of glory, of peace. My brothers and I… we were born to serve the demons. I was born to end the war, to end all of you. But now… now, I see there is still hope in this world.”
