The Bigshot's Superstar Wife - Chapter 70
Chapter 70: Win and Return
Athena and Mors braced themselves.
The creature lunged, its massive claws slicing through the air. Athena leaped high, using the magic of her blade to propel herself over its attack, while Mors met the strike head-on, blocking the blow with a force that sent shockwaves rippling across the field.
They fought with everything they had. Athena drove her sword deep into the beast’s spine, divine energy crackling through its form.
It howled in pain, but it was not enough. The monster turned, its tail whipping through the air.
Mors shoved Athena out of the way and took the hit himself, his body sent crashing into the dirt.
Athena screamed his name, but Mors was already rising, blood trailing from his lips.
“I’m not done yet,” he growled.
Together, they launched their final assault.
Athena raised Arthivian high, calling upon its power for one last devastating strike.
Mors did the same with Elsienflora, its healing aura surging into their exhausted allies, granting them one last burst of strength.
Then, in perfect unison, they struck.
The beast let out a final, deafening roar as their blades found their mark. Divine energy erupted from its core, splitting the sky with light, and then, silence.
The creature collapsed.
The battlefield stilled.
And then, one by one, the remaining beasts fell, their bodies disintegrating as the corruption holding them together dissipated.
It was over.
Athena and Mors stood amidst the carnage, their breaths ragged, their bodies aching. Around them, the soldiers watched in stunned silence before erupting into victorious cheers.
The empire had won. They had defeated the beast tide.
But as Athena and Mors looked at each other, they knew their battle was far from over.
–
The palace stood grand beneath the early morning sun, its golden spires glinting in the light.
Banners of victory adorned the towering gates, and the scent of fresh blossoms filled the air, carried by the cool breeze that whispered through the empire’s capital.
The people gathered in the streets, their cheers echoing across the city as Athena and Mors passed through, seated atop their steeds, their armor gleaming with the remnants of battle.
They had returned.
The emperor awaited them at the grand hall, his expression unreadable as he sat upon the gilded throne, the weight of the empire pressing upon his broad shoulders.
The court was silent, their gazes fixed upon the two warriors who had led them to victory.
Athena and Mors stepped forward, their swords resting at their sides, their postures unwavering despite the exhaustion they carried.
“You have done well,” the emperor finally spoke, his voice deep and reverberating through the chamber.
“For your service to the empire, for your bravery on the battlefield, and for ensuring the survival of our people, you shall be granted the honor of choosing your own spirit beasts. These creatures will be your lifelong guardians, bound to you in soul and strength.”

A murmur of approval swept through the court.
Spirit beasts were legendary companions, creatures of immense power that chose their masters based on worthiness alone.
To be granted such an opportunity was an honor beyond measure.
Athena and Mors exchanged glances before kneeling before the emperor. “We are honored, Your Majesty,” Mors said.
The emperor nodded, raising his hand.
From the side doors, a procession of robed sages entered, carrying ancient scrolls inscribed with the sacred rituals required for the summoning.
The air thrummed with energy as the first sage unrolled a parchment, revealing intricate runes that pulsed with golden light.
“Step forward and make your offerings,” the head sage instructed.
Athena moved first, drawing a dagger across her palm, allowing a single drop of her blood to fall upon the summoning sigil.
Mors did the same, their essence merging with the ancient script.
The chamber darkened, a gust of wind swirling around them as the runes lifted from the parchment, spiraling into the air before disappearing into the void.
For a long moment, nothing happened.
Then, the ground trembled.
A brilliant flash of light burst forth, splitting the space before them. From the ethereal rift, a deep, thunderous roar shook the palace, and a massive form emerged.
Scales of midnight blue shimmered under the torchlight, eyes of molten gold burning with untamed power.
A dragon, mighty and fearsome, stepped into the world, its wings spreading wide as if to claim dominion over all.
Mors felt a pull deep within his soul, a connection forming, unbreakable and resolute. The dragon turned its gaze upon him, and in that moment, they understood each other.
The beast lowered its head, allowing Mors to rest a hand against its smooth, scaled brow. A mark, ancient and glowing, appeared on his wrist, binding their souls together for eternity.
Then, the air shimmered once more. A cry, sharp and resonant, echoed through the chamber, a song of fire and rebirth.
From the light, a magnificent phoenix descended, its feathers ablaze with celestial flames, its crimson eyes piercing and wise.
It hovered before Athena, wings beating in rhythmic grace, before it lowered itself onto her shoulder.
The warmth of its presence seeped into her very being, a fire that did not burn but instead strengthened.
Athena exhaled, the mark of their bond etching itself upon her skin. The phoenix let out another cry, a promise of loyalty, of protection.
The court was silent, in awe of the sight before them.
The emperor, despite his composed demeanor, allowed a small smile to grace his lips. “It seems the spirits have chosen wisely,” he murmured.
The ritual was complete.
That night, as the empire celebrated, Athena and Mors rested within the grand palace, their new companions nestled beside them, a reminder of the bond they now carried.
They did not yet know what the future held, but one thing was certain, this was only the beginning of their new journey.
And so, as the moon cast its gentle glow over the city, Athena and Mors drifted into sleep, unaware that the next time they awoke, everything would change once more.
For when they opened their eyes, they were no longer in the palace.
They were back in Theranos V.
