Chapter 29: Maybach
The Maybach headed homeward.
Five minutes into the ride, Christine sat on the left side of the back seat, Adrian on the right, separated by a center console. An odd silence filled the car, with neither speaking a word.
Christine stole a glance to her right. Adrian was leaning against the window, eyes closed, resting.
Outside, the nighttime streetscape shifted, casting alternating light and shadow across his sculpted features, playing over his prominent nose. His thin lips and sharp jawline contributed to an overwhelming aura of unapproachability, though the soft hair falling across his forehead added a touch of humanity.
Christine felt she should explain something. Gathering her courage, she spoke: “…I wasn’t planning to take his ride.”
Her voice echoed in the air-conditioned back seat.
She immediately regretted her words. She’d meant to convey her dislike of Marcus, knowing from Ethan about the fights between the brothers and Marcus, and generally aware of Victor’s character. But Adrian might not know Ethan had told her about this, making her statement sound like she was worried about making Adrian jealous – both deliberate and presumptuous.
After a moment, Adrian responded with a simple “Mm.”
His eyes remained closed, his tone unreadable.
Seeing he wouldn’t elaborate, Christine changed the subject to Ethan: “Ethan will start chemotherapy next Monday.”
“…Thank you for respecting his decision,” she added, words she’d long wanted to say.
Adrian again responded with a soft “Mm.”
He must be exhausted, having been in Tokyo just last night before returning to N City.
Christine wasn’t sure if Adrian had come back specifically to help her, or how much of it was for her benefit; she didn’t know his schedule, or how he happened to appear so coincidentally at the hospital at nine.
Deciding further speculation was pointless, Christine fell quiet, turning to watch the streets rushing past outside the window.
Strangely though, she felt a sense of peace.
Perhaps it was because Marcus had been so off-putting, but when Adrian’s face had appeared in the car window earlier, Christine had felt an overwhelming sense of relief, as if she’d been saved.
Thirty minutes later, the Maybach slowly entered the underground garage.
As the car came to a stop, Christine reached for her bag and was about to open the door. Just as her hand touched the handle, a large hand gripped her neck from behind, pulling her back. The man’s hand was cold against her neck, which had been protected by her cashmere turtleneck. Before she could shrink away, his palm exerted force, pressing her down towards his crotch with irresistible strength.
Christine panicked, looking up at Adrian in alarm.
He was already awake, looking down at her with half-lidded steel-gray eyes that gleamed with a cold, dangerous light. Though his expression remained impassive, Christine felt like a gazelle on the savanna, with Adrian as the lion who had caught her by the neck.
He remained silent, watching her with that languid, dangerous gaze.
Until Christine finally understood his intent. After a moment’s hesitation, she lowered her eyes, no longer meeting his gaze, and reached for his belt.
The cold metal touched her palm, followed by his half-aroused warmth.
Meanwhile, she heard the driver getting out of the car.
The driver had already set the air conditioning to recirculation mode and even locked the garage door – as instructed by James.
Two hours earlier, James had called the driver from Tokyo, saying: “While taking the boss home, please pick up Mrs. Christine from the hospital, she should be returning tonight.”
Last night, after the summit, Adrian played indoor golf with several CEOs of listed companies and then returned to the hotel to handle business. Around ten o’clock, he worked out on the treadmill for 40 minutes.
While on the treadmill, he noticed the floor-to-ceiling windows in the gym and, for some reason, remembered pressing Christine against those windows last week. She had been dazed, her mouth slightly open, her disheveled hair draped over his arms.

He got hard.
Even after showering, Adrian was still hard. Wearing a bathrobe, his erection made a prominent bulge.
James entered to give his routine work report and immediately noticed Adrian’s state. He briefly summarized the matters and the next day’s arrangements, then tentatively suggested, “Boss, should I call Miss. Kiko over?”
Kiko was a sought-after international model, Japanese-American, embodying the best of East and West. In her early twenties, 5’8″, with delicate features and alluring eyes that held a wild charm, she had countless wealthy admirers.
Her appearance fee never fell below $300,000, yet someone of her caliber would come to Adrian’s room with just one call from James.
As a rising star in the art world, she’d attended the Tokyo summit. During the lunch break, she’d made subtle attempts to pass her number to James.
Adrian gave James a cold look and walked away.
James immediately recognized his mistake, fell silent, and quietly left the room.
Early the next morning, Adrian cancelled his remaining commitments, delegating the summit agreements and affairs to James, and returned to N City with Thomas and Daniel. The eight-hour flight from Tokyo meant it was already dark when they landed.
It was then that the driver received James’s instruction to pick up Christine.
The driver, not daring to assume, lowered the partition to seek Adrian’s approval. The man in the back seat, his face obscured, gave a slight nod of consent.
Christine didn’t know that Adrian rarely allowed women in his car – meanwhile, James hadn’t made the same mistake twice as his personal assistant.
Tonight’s exception could be attributed to one thing:
He wanted her in the car.

I wonder why there’s a 1,000-word minimum requirement for posting…
So let me ramble a bit here: This story isn’t just about the steamy scenes – it also explores the emotional journey and relationship development between our main characters.
It won’t be super long or overly sad. I’m planning around 200 chapters, so you can enjoy it without worrying about endless drama! ~
