The Crown's Fire - Chapter 133
Chapter 133: Help Them
With Mineah creating the portal, the two swiftly traversed through it, arriving in an empty spot within the castle where Tarah took charge. Despite Mineah’s questioning look, there was no time to explain why Tarah navigated the castle with such ease.
“I can’t reach Lai through our bond,” Mineah whispered, trailing behind Tarah.
“Your bond with King Nikolai won’t function within this castle. Devon cast a powerful spell disallowing private communication through bonds,” Tarah explained methodically. “Most spells won’t work here except those created with the essence of divinity.”
She pointed to what appeared to be a dead end. “Do you see that wall? It’s a secret passage to where Devon detained King Nikolai and King Ezekiel. Remember, casting divine spells is your only way in. You must not get caught. Utilize all the gifts His Majesty gave you,” Tarah reminded her. “Devon’s power won’t affect them.”
Then she gestured to her cloak. “These magical artifacts are blessed with divinity, so they can withstand the demon’s power. Use the armring draconite and conceal yourself well. I’ll return to you after retrieving something,” Tarah told her. “Things may become confusing, but know my true intentions, Your Majesty. I only seek to save King Ezekiel and King Nikolai, so please trust me until we ensure their safety.”
Mineah nodded, although looking utterly confused. “Please wait here,” Tarah murmured, hastening to one of Devon’s private chambers where he stored some of his disregarded belongings. The guards in charge greeted her respectfully, and Tarah breathed a sigh of relief as she passed.
Inside, she quickly located a bookshelf, finding a torn page among the chronicles of fallen angels that Devon had torn apart and inserted. Though she didn’t understand its significance before, a previous vision revealed that Queen Mineah would need the torn page.
After securing it, Tarah hurried back to where she left Mineah and handed her the torn page.
“Here, study this. It’s a torn page from the magical books about the Chronicles of Angels,” Tarah explained. “It’s written there how you’ll end your curse and how you’ll use the divine dagger. It’s in riddles, but I’m sure you’ll figure things out once you need to do everything.”
Blinking, Mineah simply nodded before looking at the piece of the torn page.
“Devon might manage to hold you back from creating a portal to return home, but this… This, he won’t be able to stop,” Tarah explained, pointing to the magical carpet Queen Mineah brought. “This magical carpet is unstoppable, so use it to escape with King Nikolai and King Ezekiel. Also, remember that killing Vulcan’s soul will be very tricky. He will try to deceive you, so you must make the right choice. Or else, you might end up killing King Nikolai instead…”
Mineah frowned. “What are you saying? Aren’t you coming with us?”
Tarah fought back the flood of emotions overwhelming her. Though she had hoped to accompany them, there were too many uncertainties ahead. “I will have to go my own way from here onwards, Your Majesty,” she admitted. “You’ll be on your own now.”
Without wasting any more time, Tarah swiftly departed, making her way towards Levi. With Queen Mineah now present, Ezekiel would be in good hands. Now, her priority was to secure Levi and make their escape together.
Arriving at the tower where Levi was confined, Tarah immediately pushed open the doors. Her heart sank as she saw Marla inside with two of her minions, and Levi tied upside down from the ceiling. “Levi,” she gasped, her concern evident in her voice.
“Sister!” Levi called out, relief flooding his voice.
“Oh, you’re finally back. Your brother has been waiting for you. He’s been sick for days… and that only means one thing, right?” Marla taunted, her grin dripping with malice.
Ignoring the witch’s provocations, Tarah focused on Levi. “Are you still in pain?” she asked urgently.
“No, Sister. The pain left my body since last night. I’m feeling much better now,” Levi replied quickly, a hint of relief in his voice. Tarah smiled, grateful that her spell had worked and relieved Levi’s suffering, at least temporarily.
Tarah’s glare pierced Marla’s smug demeanor as she turned to her servants. “Bring down my brother now!” she commanded, her voice steely with authority. “And do it carefully. If he’s hurt, you two will pay the consequences!”
She then faced Marla with a smirk. “Devon is close to obtaining the dragon’s power, which means I’m officially on the brink of becoming his Queen, whether I like it or not,” Tarah declared defiantly. “The guards even greeted me with the utmost respect, indicating that Devon still desires me, regardless of any missteps I may have made. Nothing matters to him as long as he can have me by any means necessary.”
“So if I were you,” Tarah continued, her smirk widening, “instead of wasting your time here, why don’t you just leave me alone and pray that I choose to escape rather than remain here and become Devon’s Queen? Because I swear… Once I become Devon’s Queen, the first thing I will ask of him is a gift, and that gift will be your head rolling at my brother’s feet…”
Marla’s face drained of color as Tarah asserted her authority. In a tense silence, Marla signaled her two servants, who promptly released Levi from his binds.
“Sister!” Relief washed over Tarah as Levi embraced her. As Marla and her servants hurriedly left the chamber, Tarah exhaled deeply and turned her attention back to her brother. “We’ll be leaving now, Levi,” she said gently. “I’ll carry you securely on my back and cast a spell to bind you with me, so the two of us won’t be separated, no matter what. Alright?”
Levi nodded, allowing Tarah to carry him securely on her back and bind him with her.
“Where are we going, sister?” Levi inquired when she was done. Tarah smiled reassuringly. “To a place where Devon will never find us, Levi. You’ll be safe there—it’s a distant refuge.”
Just as she was about to cast the spell to teleport them away, a vision stopped her abruptly. Gasping, Tarah trembled as she nervously murmured, “They are in danger. I need to help them.”
