The Crown's Fire - Chapter 137
Chapter 137: The Princess of Zion
In the Kingdom of Helion, Devon roared in pain, causing everyone in his bedchamber to flinch and tremble, except for Marla.
“All of you, scram!!!” he commanded, and the healers quickly left, leaving only Marla behind.
“Sibil?!” Devon hissed at Marla, clearly agitated.
Marla winced inwardly at the mention of Sibil’s name. She was certain Sibil had attempted to seize the dragon’s power for himself, but evidently, he had failed. Fortunately for him, he was skilled at making excuses, and he could still argue that he had successfully extracted the dragon’s soul, even if he had failed to control it. Nonetheless, Devon would undoubtedly punish him severely for his failure.
“He’s still unconscious, My Lord,” Marla responded dutifully.
“He’d be better off without that arm I gave him! Let him use only one arm! That useless moron!” Devon grunted through gritted teeth, followed by a wince of pain that betrayed his discomfort.
“You need to calm down and focus on recuperating well. A lot of things are going on right now,” Marla advised sternly, emphasizing the importance of his recovery amidst the turmoil.
Her gaze shifted to Devon’s wounds, which were deep and slow to heal due to the dragon’s sword used against him. Thankfully, the healers had managed to stop the bleeding.
Just then, the door swung open, and one of Devon’s Commanders entered, reporting, “Coalitions are forming in every kingdom you’ve sieged, My Lord… And there’s a powerful being leading them.”
Devon’s frustration was palpable. “A powerful being?!” he grunted, clearly displeased with the news. His plans were unraveling, and he was growing increasingly agitated.
Marla saw an opportunity for retribution against the Seer’s people, suggesting harsh punishment to make them pay for their princess’s actions. “Shouldn’t we focus more on punishing that bitch’s people? She betrayed you! Let all the Zionians suffer because of their Princess’ actions!” she proposed, her voice tinged with vindictiveness.
But Devon had a different perspective. He rejected Marla’s proposal, recognizing the need for allies in the face of Ezekiel’s newfound power. “No, I won’t do that. I need as many people as I can,” he grunted. “Ezekiel managed to get a hold of the dragon’s power, and it’s only a matter of time before he attacks here in full force. I will have Katelina’s people as my shield until then!”
“She will pay for what she did. And I will personally give her the punishment she deserves! Call for Soka!” Devon commanded, his voice steely with determination. Marla’s expression fell as she anticipated Devon’s next move. Soka, the skilled warlock responsible for deploying Devon’s spies, would undoubtedly be tasked with tracking down Katelina.
‘What’s with that woman that he can’t get over?’ Marla irritably mused. Despite her annoyance, she found some solace in the knowledge that Katelina had managed to escape. However, she knew Devon’s obsession with Katelina wouldn’t end until she was eliminated for good. With that in mind, Marla resolved to find Katelina first and ensure she met her end once and for all.
Soka arrived soon after, and Marla was relieved that Devon allowed her to remain in his chamber. It was a clear indication of his trust in her, which brought her a sense of satisfaction.
Devon turned to his commander and issued a command, his voice firm and decisive, “Make sure to find the leader of this coalition and put an end to it. Kill anyone you suspect of cooperating with them.”
The commander nodded dutifully, “Yes, My Lord,” before swiftly departing at Devon’s dismissal. Devon then addressed Soka, his tone unwavering, “Your sole mission now is to locate my woman, the Princess of Zion, Katelina Grimaldi. I want her brought to me alive and unharmed.”
“I understand, My Lord,” Soka replied with a nod before departing as well.
Once they were alone, Devon turned to Marla with a cold stare, “You may leave.”
“But My Lord,” Marla began to protest, only to falter under Devon’s deadly glare. Recognizing the futility of further argument, she quickly exited the chamber. Instead of returning to her quarters, however, she decided to follow Soka to his personal chamber in the castle.
“Mistress Marla,” Soka greeted with a furrowed brow as Marla unexpectedly entered his quarters. Marla responded with a seductive smile, recognizing Soka’s weakness for women. She knew he desired her, just like many other men she had encountered. She had always been the most desirable woman, even in Devon’s eyes, until three years ago when Katelina arrived.
Closing the distance between them, Marla pressed her body against Soka’s, ensuring that her ample breasts brushed against him enticingly. Soka was one of the men she always caught ogling her from head to toe, so it was fortunate that Devon gave him the task of looking for Katelina. Marla was confident that she could easily manipulate Soka.
“His Lord dismissed me, and I’m feeling rather bored. How about I help you relax before you depart on your mission?” she whispered suggestively into his ear.
“You don’t make these offers without expecting something in return, do you?” Soka’s voice was low and husky as Marla began to explore his neck with her lips.
“Oh, you can find me whenever you need to feel good, Soka. But you’re right, nothing’s free in this world. I only ask for one simple thing in return for bringing heaven to you whenever you desire,” Marla coaxed, her hand teasingly stroking his already aroused length beneath his trousers.
Soka groaned in response. “Tell me,” he demanded.
“I want to see Katelina before you bring her to Devon. Can you arrange that for me?” Marla’s lips continued to trail along Soka’s jawline as she made her request.
“Is that all?” Soka’s growl was eager, and without waiting for a response, he added, “I’ll do it, Mistress Marla. I’ll bring her to you first!” With that, he eagerly removed Marla’s clothes, and she willingly surrendered to his desires.
Marla fulfilled Soka’s wildest fantasies, finding his company far more satisfying than Sibil’s. As they lost themselves in pleasure, Marla couldn’t help but revel in the enjoyment of their encounter.
As they became entangled in passion, Marla silently vowed, ‘Katelina, I will ensure you disappear from this world like thin air.’
