The Crown's Fire - Chapter 145
Chapter 145: Finished
Marla’s face paled as she witnessed Ezekiel’s decisive strike against Devon. Her body trembled uncontrollably as she backed away, her mind racing with fear and disbelief. She knew she had to escape or face a similar fate.
“I can’t believe this… Devon died… This can’t be…” Her words were choked with emotion as tears streamed down her face. With each step, her panic grew, fueling her desperate flight from the gruesome scene. She couldn’t comprehend how someone as powerful as Devon could be defeated so easily. There was no way Devon would vanish like that…
Meanwhile, inside the destroyed throne hall, with Devon’s lifeless form crumbling to the ground, Ezekiel raised his hands, summoning forth the potent blue flames of his dragon power. These flames were not just physical, but mystical, capable of consuming not only flesh but the very essence of one’s being.
As the azure flames enveloped Devon’s fallen body, they burned with an intensity that seemed to defy the laws of nature. The flames licked hungrily at his form, searing through flesh and bone with an unrelenting fury.
But Ezekiel’s purpose was not merely to destroy Devon’s physical vessel. No, he sought to obliterate every trace of the demon king’s existence, to ensure that he could never again threaten the peace of the realm.
With a primal roar, Ezekiel channeled all of his rage and determination into the flames, willing them to scour away every last vestige of Devon’s spirit and soul. The air crackled with energy as the flames raged hotter and brighter, consuming everything in their path.
And then, as suddenly as they had appeared, the flames began to recede, leaving nothing behind but a charred, empty space where Devon’s body had once lain. Ezekiel stood amidst the aftermath, his chest heaving with exertion, but his eyes filled with a steely resolve.
With Devon’s spirit and soul extinguished Ezekiel knew that Tarah was now free. He grabbed Devon’s head by his hair and walked out of his throne, his presence striking fear into all who saw him. Not far away, he saw Elijah with his men approaching.
“Sire,” Elijah murmured, his gaze fixed on Devon’s severed head.
“Take over from here. Free everyone that Devon captured and give assistance. They are free to return to their kingdoms. Deal with those who remain loyal to Devon. Execute all of them.” Ezekiel’s voice was cold and commanding.
“Are you alright, Sire? You look exhausted,” Elijah asked, concern etched on his face.
Ezekiel looked at him and replied, “I’m fine, Elijah. I just need a moment… I will return home and rest for a while. Also, ensure that the news of Devon’s demise spreads, and let it be known that the rightful ruler of Helion will ascend the throne.”
He walked with Devon’s head still in his hand…
“We’re at your mercy Our King!”
“Hail the King of Ebodia!”
“Long live the King of Ebodia!”
“Long live the Dragon King!!!”
As the crowd cheered and praised him, Ezekiel’s demeanor remained distant, his mind preoccupied with thoughts of Tarah. Despite the severed dragon bond, he couldn’t stop trying to reach out to her.
[You’re free now, Tarah, so please come back to me,] he silently pleaded, his heart heavy with the uncertainty of her fate. The realization that their bond had been severed settled like a heavy weight upon him, a stark reminder of the punishment she faced.
With each step forward, Ezekiel continued to feel the ache and burden of her absence. “I will not stop looking for you,” he muttered, determination lacing his words.
[We need to gather back our strength first. We need rest. It’s not like I don’t need one too. We used an amount of power, not just today,] Khal reminded him, urging caution.
Ezekiel, sensing the toll on his body from the intense battle, decided to make his way back to Ebodia on horseback, with Devon’s severed head as a grim trophy. As he traveled, he made sure to parade the trophy through every place he passed, ensuring that all who saw it knew that the demon king had fallen by his hand.
[You’re doing this for her, do you think she will come back?] Khal uttered.
“Yes,” Ezekiel responded to Khal’s question, determination burning in his eyes. “I want the word to spread far and wide, reaching every corner of the world until it reaches Tarah’s ears. She needs to know that Devon is no more and that she is free from him.”

At the Rose Palace in Ebodia, Dana, her husband, and their daughter Mineah, along with her husband Nikolai, were gathered for dinner when a royal guard abruptly interrupted.
“Your Majesty, King Ezekiel is back and…” the guard hesitated, unable to complete his sentence.
“He has brought with him Devon’s head…” Mineah’s voice rang out as she stared at the guard’s eyes, breaking the stunned silence.
“What?!” Stephan exclaimed, his astonishment evident as they all rose from their seats and hurried to the Jade Palace, where Ezekiel was reportedly waiting outside.
Outside the throne hall, Dana’s heart clenched as she saw her son, covered in blood, holding Devon’s severed head.

“Son!” she cried out, her voice filled with a mix of horror and concern.
“He’s bathed in Devon’s blood,” Mineah remarked, her tone solemn. “I can only imagine the gruesome death Devon suffered at his hands.”
Ezekiel’s declaration was chillingly final as he spoke. “It is finished. I destroyed everything there was of him,” he stated coldly, tossing the head to the ground. “His body, spirit, and soul… Nothing remains but this head.”
Dana gasped as Ezekiel’s hand ignited with fire, consuming the head and reducing it to ash. The witnesses couldn’t help but bow in reverence, praising their king for ridding them of the demon who had brought so much suffering.
With Devon defeated, a sense of relief swept over Ebodians and beyond. News of the dragon king’s triumph over the demon king spread like wildfire, bringing hope and peace to every corner of the realm.
