The Crown's Fire - Chapter 146
Chapter 146: Helion’s King
At the Kingdom of Helion
Elijah released a deep sigh as he looked around at the destroyed walls, evidence of the great battle that had ensued. He watched as his soldiers and their mages gathered the wounded and the dead.
Their mages attended to the wounded reeking with dark magic, affiliating them, while they treated the innocent casualties. So far, no innocent deaths had been reported during their king’s attack.
“Who would have thought he’d be this precise? I guess that dragon is indeed powerful; he can see through who to attack and who not to,” Elijah murmured, his eyes gleaming with pride. He was delighted to witness the great power of his king. Before, they were all surprised to find out he had angel blood, but now, he wielded even the power of the dragon.
A wide grin formed on his face as he proudly added, “Hah, who would dare wage war on us right now? They’re definitely dead meat before they can even start!”
Just this autumn, they had trembled in fear when Helion declared war against them, but now it was summer already, and look how the tides had turned in their favor. The heavens were indeed merciful and would not let evil prevail for long!
Cora, standing beside him, murmured, “I still can’t believe our king is the golden dragon.” She then turned to him and asked, “Since when have you been aware of it?”
“While we were still in the encampment, the day when he came back and regained consciousness. He told Atlas and me…” Elijah answered.
“He’s so powerful, Elijah. I’ve been itching to see his signal for us to attack, but it turned out that it’s a signal to wrap things up after he practically destroyed everything here…” Cora commented.
“Commander Elijah,” a soldier approached them, interrupting their conversation.
“We found out where the Queen Mother is being held captive, but her situation is not good. The healer she requested, named Casimir, is already treating her. Also, as you instructed, we gathered them all at the grand hall – all the remaining previous royals and members of the inner court of Helion that are still alive,” he reported.
“You should see them now; the Queen Mother is solemnly asking for King Ezekiel’s presence,” the soldier added.
Elijah nodded and then looked at Cora, “You should head to Zion now and take over there. King Ezekiel wants to find her, so make sure you look in every corner of that kingdom for Lady Tarah.”
Cora nodded determinedly and said, “I will leave now and make sure to find her no matter what.”
With that, Elijah proceeded his way to the great hall. He shook his head at the damage caused in the castle. “It will require a lot of rebuilding,” he murmured.
“Thank you, My Lord…”
Elijah had already lost count of how many times he had heard those words from the Helonians and others they freed from being held captive by Devon. He had even sent some of their men to safely escort those who wanted to return to their kingdom.
He courteously nodded at every Helonian he passed by who bowed down to him and kept on saying thank you.
“I feel like we don’t deserve it. After all, it’s our king who helped them single-handedly just by killing Devon and most of his powerful allies…” Elijah muttered as he walked inside.
As he expected, everyone inside the great hall was on their bended knees. He scratched his head and said, “Please rise, all of you.”
He took a deep breath and continued at length, “I am not the one who helped you all, but our king. Right now, he has to return to Ebodia, but you will have time to pay respect and personally say your thanks to him. As you all know, he single-handedly fought Devon and his allies. We’re just here to wrap things up and provide any help and assistance you may require.”
“We are still all grateful, My Lord, for your assistance to us. Thank you,” an older woman commented with a smile.
“She’s the Queen Mother, Mona Black,” introduced by a man beside her. She indeed looked unwell.
Elijah nodded and said, “I am Commander Elijah Hart, Your Grace. I will be the one responsible for the assistance being rendered here in Helion. We’ll need to coordinate closely with someone you deem capable of taking charge of Helion’s people in the meantime. We’ll need to execute those who are proven to have colluded with Devon on their own will. Our king will not let those who helped Devon on their own will to roam freely without facing the consequences of their actions…”
“I understand what you mean, Commander… My son, Amon, will take over the kingdom as the rightful heir to be Helion’s King. I have kept his identity hidden, and I just recently found him. Since then, I’ve been grooming him well and keeping him safe as we planned our fight in the shadow against Devon, Queen Mother Mona explained, emphasizing the careful preparation undertaken to protect her son and prepare him for his future role.
Elijah’s eyes softened as her body shook and tears ran down her eyes while she continued, “But we’re fortunate not to spill blood, and that is thanks to His Majesty, King Ezekiel. My son is saved from a possible horrendous battle…”
“Everything is fine now; you can now call your son back and then take over. We’ll be at his order. Like I said, our King sent us here to aid and provide assistance, but we were given a hand in executing those who remain loyal to Devon… And we have to ensure they are all eliminated,” Elijah commented.
“I will also help in that matter. I know who those traitors are and where they are hiding!” a man suddenly interrupted.
“Rendon,” the man beside Queen Mona called.
Elijah acknowledged Rendon’s expertise and nodded in agreement. “Very well, Rendon. Please fetch King Amon so we can discuss further details.”

Queen Mother Mona’s calm demeanor reassured Elijah. “There’s a lot to do, but we can take it one step at a time,” she remarked.
Elijah understood the enormity of the task ahead for Helion. With monsters propagated by Devon in the southern part of the kingdom and escaped dark witches to deal with, there was much work to be done.
Reflecting on the responsibilities that lay ahead, Elijah quietly considered, “Maybe I should let Cora take over here, and I’ll stay in Zion instead.”
