The Crown's Fire - Chapter 175
Chapter 175: Devon’s Bloodthread
In a secluded area in the wilderness outside the borders of Ebodia, Marla had established a secure camp with several of Devon’s followers who had managed to escape the Dragon King’s attack and evade his men.
Devon had spies and loyalists embedded in every kingdom, and they were now receiving support from an undiscovered ally within the kingdom of Ebodia.
“Are you telling me that you still can’t open this damn journal?” their ally from Ebodia, dressed in a black hoodie cloak, questioned Marla with a frown.
“The spell cast on this journal is too powerful, sealed with divine blood. I will need divine blood to open it,” Marla replied, her frustration evident. She had only recently discovered this after studying the journal, which was said to belong to the Seer of Ebodia, for days.
Her face contorted as her thoughts wandered to Katelina. She added, “It’s likely a spell from that fallen angel Dana, bonding Katelina to this journal as its owner. Only those with divine blood will be able to read what’s inside, particularly the ones who share the same blood as Dana aside from Katelina. I wonder what that bitch wrote in here for it to be sealed this tightly.”
“Katelina?” the man questioned.
“Yes, Katelina Grimaldi… the Queen Regent of Zion right now. She’s the same woman who was Devon’s favorite mistress and the unwilling spy he planted with Ezekiel as Ebodia’s new fated Seer. Right, you’re not aware of it because Lord Devon wanted Katelina all to himself, so he practically hid her existence inside Helion. No one has actually seen her face since it was always covered with a veil… just like how she still covers her face as the Queen Regent of Zion,” Marla informed.
“That’s a good piece of information that could be useful against our Dragon King. He’s so powerful right now, and the people love him for everything he’s done. Yet, that won’t last long because I will make sure to stain his name in every possible way,” the man maliciously declared.
“Is your spy still inside the king’s palace?” Marla inquired.
“Yes, she’s human with no dark magic, and she comes from a family with a good background, so no one suspects her. The Global Summit will happen in ten days. Zion and Helion will surely participate. If you want to bring Devon back using his half-brother, tell me everything about the plan, and I will see how I can help,” the man commented.
Marla nodded and said, “Thank you for your assistance, milord. I will make sure His Lordship Devon knows how much you have helped us.”
“I will get you a divine blood to open that journal,” the man said before leaving.
Marla smirked as she stared at Katelina’s journal. “I wonder what you have written here? Your visions and dreams of the future, perhaps? Spells?” she murmured to herself. She was updated on the current events in Zion and Helion. Still, she could not act against them because both royal estates were protected by powerful barriers, preventing any dark or evil magic from entering.
However, knowing that those monarchs would soon leave their protective zones to attend the Global Summit was an opportunity she couldn’t miss. Devon’s half-brother, Amon, could be the medium for Devon’s return if they executed their plan properly. Amon would serve as a vessel for Devon’s revival, as a remnant of the Demon King remained inside Amon. Devon’s bloodthread would slowly consume Amon’s body.
“But before Devon’s revival, I must ensure that you’re dead, Katelina,” Marla vowed, her face darkening with determination. Devon’s obsession with Katelina was truly infuriating. He would only stop seeking her once she was dead, so Marla’s primary goal was to eliminate Katelina before Devon’s return.
She immediately called for Bulun, who had managed to escape Cordon as soon as the Noble Lord he was serving fell.
“What is it?” Bulun asked as soon as he was inside her tent.
“Make preparations. We’re going to make moves against the King of Helion and the Queen Regent of Zion, Katelina, during the Global Summit. Our Lord Devon will revive in his half-brother’s body, and we need to abduct Katelina, his favorite mistress,” she explained, outlining the plan to Bulun.
“I will make all the arrangements right now,” Bulun responded promptly and left to set the plan in motion.
She gritted her teeth and muttered, “This time, I must succeed. Failure is not an option.”

At the Kingdom of Zion, Katelina found herself busy wrapping up affairs in their realm to ensure everything was in order before she departed with Luis to attend the Global Summit. Levi would remain behind, and she was concerned about leaving him alone. She contemplated whether to bring Luis along or not.
“Levi will need someone capable of assisting him while I’m away, and I trust no one more than Luis,” Katelina mused as she signed and sealed some important documents.
“We could leave him here and bring adequate security with us,” Asura suggested. Before Katelina could respond, a royal guard entered her office.
“Your Majesty, Commander Cora has returned with mages and Ebodia’s royal cavalry. She was sent by His Majesty King Ezekiel to ensure your security during your journey to the Global Summit at Haven Forest,” he informed.
Katelina glanced at Asura, who grinned teasingly, remarking, “That’s quite thoughtful of His Majesty, ensuring your safety.”
Luis suddenly arrived as well and questioned, “Your Majesty, should I send them back? There’s no need for additional assistance since I and our men are more than capable of escorting you safely.”
“No, Luis… Let them stay. I had already intended to speak with you, as I’ve decided to leave you here to assist our young King Levi while I’m away. I trust no one else but you to ensure Levi’s safety and provide guidance,” Katelina declared firmly.
“But Your Majesty—”
“No more discussion on the matter, Luis. My decision is final. Protecting and guiding my brother is as crucial as protecting me, so Levi’s welfare must be our priority,” she insisted.
