The Crown's Fire - Chapter 190
Chapter 190: Potion
Ezekiel turned visible under a shaded tree, ensuring no one was around. He approached Cora and the rest of his men, who were busy preparing breakfast.
“Your Majesty,” everyone greeted him with a bow.
“Go back to what you’re doing,” he instructed. Then he looked at Cora and said, “Escort me to our makeshift kitchen. I will prepare something for Kate.”
Cora quickly ushered him there. “Your Majesty, aren’t you needed early at the Global Summit?” she asked.
“Elijah will do fine without me. I already instructed him on what to do,” Ezekiel replied as he started preparing Katelina’s breakfast. He knew she liked chicken soup and buttered bread in the morning. And the coffee…
“Go to their camp and tell the Queen Regent that I’m preparing her breakfast and that I invite her to have breakfast with me,” Ezekiel instructed.
If he couldn’t stay with her directly, he could still show his care in other ways. Preparing her breakfast would be a small gesture but one filled with his love and longing.
“I will do, Your Majesty,” Cora said with an awkward smile. She turned and left their king, only to be pulled aside by her soldiers.
“Commander, what’s going on? Why is our king with us? Is it true that he wants to marry the Queen Regent? Is that why he’s here?” Questions poured out, demanding answers.
“Yes… All yes to all that’s been circulating inside your heads now. So let me go so I can deliver our king’s lovely message to the Queen Regent,” she scoffed.
Cora quickly approached the Queen Regent, who was walking with Asura.
“Your Majesty,” she courteously greeted her.
“Good morning, Lady Cora.” Queen Regent Katelina said with a smile. Then she smiled with a curt nod to Lady Asura, who greeted her back.
“His Majesty wants to tell you that he’s now preparing breakfast for you. Please allow me to escort you to our camp,” Cora said with a smile.
“Oh, that’s so thoughtful! Are you saying that King Ezekiel is preparing it himself?” Asura asked with dreamy eyes.
“Yes,” Cora proudly stated.
“Ah, goodness, I’m so envious. When will I have a man like that?” Asura mumbled with sparkling eyes. “Lady Cora, can I also tag along with you as you escort Her Majesty?”
“Wait, I haven’t agreed yet,” the Queen Regent interjected. Cora gulped, but thankfully Asura interrupted and said, “Your Majesty, remember that he is our savior. It would be so impolite to reject his goodness like this.”
A loud sigh escaped from the Queen Regent before she turned to Cora and said, “Lead the way, Lady Cora.”
Cora smiled widely and said, “Please follow me.”
Cora led Katelina to a makeshift table and chair set up for two people under a big tree. “Please wait here,” Cora said, pulling out a chair for Katelina to sit on, ensuring she had a clear view of their king in the makeshift kitchen. Inside, Cora was giggling; her men knew exactly how to set up this romantic arrangement.
She then nodded at Lady Asura, indicating they should have breakfast together not far from their monarch. Cora poured tea into their cups and handed one to Lady Asura as they waited for the rest of their breakfast.
“Is he this sweet with our Queen Regent before?” Asura asked curiously.
“Of course he is. He would even sneak out from his duties just to rush to where Her Majesty was. But it’s the other way around when it comes to cooking. To be honest, it’s always Her Majesty who spends time in the kitchen to personally cook the dishes our King loves,” Cora explained with a grin.
“Well, Her Majesty is very good at almost everything. She’s trained since she was young in all things a woman of her status should know. Most especially how to be a perfect wife for a king,” Asura commented with a grin.
“Goodness, I’ve never seen such a masculine and handsome man cooking like this. Such a feast for the eyes…” Asura added, feasting her eyes at the view of King Ezekiel preparing breakfast, and Cora couldn’t agree more.
Turning back at her, Asura asked, “By the way, how is Aurum?”
Last night, Cora had followed the king’s command to retrieve Aurum from the Queen Regent. She sighed, “Inside my tent…”
Asura chuckled and said, “Look at you with a long face. Why not just enjoy Aurum’s company and let our Queen Regent form the dragon bond between you two? I mean, she just recently did that for Luis and Jade. You wouldn’t believe how delighted and overwhelmed Luis was, talking with Jade inside his head.”
Cora smiled, though her expression remained uneasy. “I suppose you’re right. It’s just… different. Everything is still overwhelming for me, I guess. I’m not confident in taking on this responsibility yet.”

Asura sipped her tea, nodding thoughtfully. “Change can be daunting, but think of the possibilities. A dragon bond is a rare gift.”
Cora chuckled, “You’re right, as always. I should embrace it.”
“Yes, but if you truly don’t want it, how about you just convince that dragon to pick someone like me?” Asura suggested with a wide grin.
Cora chuckled. “Let me try that then. But how will we know if it works? I can’t understand Aurum.”
“I’m sure your king will understand it. Besides, those two are from the same race of golden dragons,” Asura pointed out. “You just have to convince Aurum by directly telling it that I am willing to take him and be his dragon rider.”
Cora just nodded. In her thoughts, Aurum should have picked someone like Lady Asura, who seemed very dedicated, not her, with all her hesitations.
She creased her forehead when she suddenly saw a portal nearby. Her face brightened seeing it was Wizard Lurio. ‘That was quite fast,’ she thought. She had sent a message to the Queen Mother about the Queen Regent’s nightmare and how her potion worked with Katelina.
“Lady Asura, excuse me for a while,” she said before quickly rushing toward Lurio.
“Look at you in haste…” Lurio snorted.
Cora chuckled and quickly asked, “Did Her Majesty have more of the potion?”
Lurio handed her a pouch and said, “Here, inside are four bottles. The Queen Mother is preparing more; you can convey that to the Queen Regent.”
