The Crown's Fire - Chapter 210
Chapter 210: Interested In Me
Asura paced back and forth inside her tent, contemplating Kasper’s offer. He had confirmed that he had a trick up his sleeve and could help her become a dragonrider, but things wouldn’t be simple.
“I think he just said that so I’ll spend time with him during this Global Summit. Does he like me?” she murmured, blushing across her cheeks. Despite her reservations, she couldn’t ignore the feeling that he was trying to get closer to her. However, her face darkened as she recalled how he had once brazenly told her that she wasn’t his type.
“Am I assuming again?” she scolded herself, pouting. She reminded herself not to assume anything. In her experience, men were all the same. Most just wanted to sleep with her, and once they were done with her body, they would leave. No one was taking her seriously, and it truly hurt. Her only consolation was Levi’s vision of seeing her getting married. She was eager to see how she could reach that point.
Stepping out of the tent, Asura noticed others getting ready to join the activities.
“Lady Asura, aren’t you participating in the light games the Sorel Guild has prepared today?” Minister Janus asked her.
“I’ll pass today. Maybe tomorrow I’ll participate, Milord,” she answered with a curt nod. From the corner of her eye, she saw Kasper not far away, talking with some soldiers.
‘Was he waiting for my answer?’ she mused. He had offered to give her a few lessons today, and she had said she wasn’t sure and needed to think about it. She looked at him and saw him staring, but he quickly looked away.
With a sigh, she decided to walk over to him. “Lord Kasper,” she called, catching his attention. “About your offer…”
He raised an eyebrow, a small smile playing on his lips. “Yes?”
“I’ve decided to take you up on it. When do we start?” she asked, trying to keep her voice steady.
“Right now, if you’re ready,” he replied, his smile widening. Asura kept a serious countenance because she was focused on her goal of becoming a dragonrider.
“Walk with me, and let’s find a good spot,” Kasper suggested, leading the way. Asura followed closely behind him.
“What are you really?” Asura asked curiously.
“Didn’t you hear? I’m ancient. I’ve been here on this earth before dragons even became extinct,” Kasper answered casually.
“Goodness, so you’re more than a millennium old already?!” Asura burst out.
“Well, you could say that. One thousand five hundred years, to be precise,” Kasper commented.
“But you’re not a vampire,” Asura muttered.
“I am not!” Kasper confirmed.
She stared at him, intrigued and a bit bewildered by his revelation. “Then what are you?”
Kasper paused for a moment before replying, “I am a… hmm, I’ll tell you later once I feel you can keep it to yourself.”
Asura blinked at him in disbelief. No one knew what kind of being Kasper was. There were many speculations, but one thing was certain: he was also immortal. “Are you a fallen angel?” she directly asked. That was the closest guess she had if he wasn’t a vampire.
“Hmm, I could be one,” Kasper shrugged, giving her a wink. “I’ll tell you once you decide to stay by my side,” he said with a grin.
Asura blushed deeply at his words. Was he trying to hit on her? “I thought I wasn’t your type, so why would you want someone like me to stay by your side?” she asked, annoyed.
“You’re not my ideal type physically, but that doesn’t mean I won’t be attracted to you,” Kasper answered.
Asura couldn’t believe how their conversation had progressed. “You’re insufferable,” she muttered.
Kasper laughed, a warm, rich sound that somehow eased her irritation. “Maybe. But I’m also helpful. Now, let’s get started on making you a dragonrider.”
Asura rolled her eyes but followed him, feeling a strange mix of frustration and curiosity. She couldn’t help but wonder what kind of being he really was and why he seemed so interested in her.
Kasper stopped at a small clearing, looked around, and said, “I think this is a safe location to train. Wait for a minute.”
Asura watched as Kasper cast a spell, creating a barrier around the area. Her mind was swirling. Kasper seemed like the happy-go-lucky type, too blunt at times, which could be annoying, but she preferred it to being showered with empty compliments and praises that ultimately led to disappointment.
When Kasper finished, Asura couldn’t help but candidly ask, “So, how many women have you already asked to stay by your side?”

Kasper suddenly coughed as if clearing a lump in his throat. Asura raised an eyebrow, staring at him, eagerly waiting for his answer.
“Haven’t you really heard about me? I thought I was quite famous,” he scoffed.
“You are famous for being a thief,” she answered with a twitching mouth.
“Hmm, you haven’t heard that I’ve been practicing celibacy and that’s why I’m able to maintain my youth?” he murmured.
“So, are you saying that you haven’t asked any woman or involved yourself with a woman for a thousand and five hundred years?” she burst out, eyes wide.
“Well, I just recently courted a woman. She’s also here at this gathering. Lady Lena from Cordon. But I was turned down,” he honestly answered. “She wasn’t interested. Which is fine,” he said, shrugging. “Not every pursuit ends in success.”
Asura looked at him thoughtfully. “And now you’re interested in me?”
Kasper met her gaze. “I am. There’s something about you, Lady Asura. Something real and unpretentious. I find it… refreshing.”
Asura blushed slightly, looking away. “Well, I will not easily fall for a man’s tricks this time. Who knows? You probably just want my body,” she murmured.
“Aren’t you judging me too early? I’m interested in you as a person, but of course, all parts of your body are also included,” Kasper replied with a cheeky smile. “Now, shall we begin your training?”
Asura nodded, still processing everything. She couldn’t quite figure Kasper out, but maybe, just maybe, he was being genuine. Time would tell, and for now, she would take this opportunity to learn from him.
