The Crown's Fire - Chapter 231
Chapter 231: Crumbling
Back at Haven Forest
A lot had happened today, but none of it involved their kingdom. It was about the new king of Helion facing an unexpected ambush from King Moler of Nur. Asura’s face soured at the thought because King Moler had approached her for dinner last night during the card games.
She was relieved that Kasper had intervened yesterday and won that bet, or else she could have been dragged into this mess. Undoubtedly, the Sorel guild would question anyone who interacted closely with or visited the camps where King Moler had been.
Her eyes landed on the sparkling golden bow and arrow that Kasper had won for today’s hunt. He had given it to her as soon as it was handed to him.
“He sure knows how to please a woman with gifts… I wonder…” Her face reddened as her thoughts grew wild. She wondered if Kasper would be good in bed—after all, he was a virgin, but ancient and surely knowledgeable about intimacy despite his years of celibacy.
The thought of being the first woman to share that experience with him excited and aroused her. “I must be crazy!” she scolded herself, shaking her head to clear her wild thoughts. She had vowed not to easily sleep with a man she liked, and here she was, entertaining such thoughts.
“Wait, does that mean I like him already?!” she burst out with wide eyes. Her face soured as she shrugged. She was falling for a man again, and she was trying her best to deny it.
“Isn’t it too fast?” she murmured helplessly. It was already dark, and she should be sleeping, but she couldn’t rest at all. Talking to herself felt crazy.
“I wonder when Her Majesty will come back. It seems like she’s enjoying her advanced honeymoon with King Ezekiel. Do they plan to have this time alone throughout the summit?” she mumbled.
“This won’t do!” She got up from her bed, grabbed her cloak, and headed outside. She was bored and couldn’t sleep. Maybe a walk would tire her out and help her rest.
She stepped out of her tent and nearly jumped out of her skin when she saw Kasper standing there.
“What are you doing here?” she burst out, eyes wide. He gave her a timid smile, scratching his head. “I couldn’t sleep, so I thought a walk might help. I’m surprised my feet brought me here, Milady.”
Her face twitched as she muttered, “And you expect me to believe that?”
Kasper grinned and softly said, “I missed you.”
“We just had dinner together. Aren’t you getting a bit clingy?” she scoffed, trying to keep a straight face, though inside, her heart fluttered. She was practically squealing with delight!
“I can’t help it. I’m surprised I’m acting like this for the first time,” Kasper mumbled with a heavy sigh.
“What if I turn you down right here, right now, Lord Kasper?” Asura challenged. His face suddenly became serious as he gazed at her intensely. “I will not stop until I have you.”
She frowned, taken aback by his response. “Why didn’t you pursue Lady Lena the same way?” she asked curiously.
“I don’t know. I’ve told you before, that my feelings for you are strong. It’s not just physical attraction, especially since you’re not my ideal type physically. I like all of you as a whole, and there’s something about you that draws me closer that I can’t explain,” Kasper confessed.
“Remember the first time we met? You’re right. I could have easily cast a portal, but when our eyes met, I… I don’t know why I acted strangely and even hid in the water. Maybe I wanted an excuse to stay longer with you?” Kasper fidgeted nervously.
Asura released a deep sigh and muttered, “Fine, let’s take a walk together…”
She walked ahead, and Kasper quickly matched her pace. She felt a pang of irritation for constantly bringing up Lady Lena. Maybe she was still smarting from hearing him praise the woman in front of her.
“It’s getting cooler. I can feel winter approaching,” Kasper commented. Asura felt his warm hand grabbing hers and said, “Your hand is cold. Let me warm it,” Kasper offered as he rubbed her hand. She couldn’t believe this man had no experience with women at all. His simple gesture was surprisingly arousing. Asura bit her lower lip, feeling the effect his touch had on her.
‘Maybe my body is reacting like this because it’s been a long time since I got involved with a man,’ she thought. It had been almost three seasons since she had sex with Calypso if her calculations were correct.
Feeling tingling sensations, she quickly pulled her hand away from his, despite enjoying the warmth. “What do you want to hunt tomorrow? What prize do you have your eye on?” Kasper suddenly asked with a smile.
Asura spotted a makeshift bench in the distance and headed towards it to sit down. Kasper joined her, and together they gazed at the night sky. The area was dim and chilly.
“Are you cold? Should I light a fire for us?” Kasper asked her.
“I’m not cold, I’m feeling hot,” Asura unknowingly mumbled to herself. Her mind was racing, thoughts swirling with the anticipation of what it would feel like to be intimate with Kasper. She felt like a mad woman, consumed by desire, and she blamed Kasper for igniting these feelings in her.
Asura’s mind raced with anticipation as Kasper’s innocent confusion and earnest desire stirred something within her. She felt a mix of excitement and nerves, wondering if how it would feel to be kissed and claimed by him.
“How? But it’s cold,” Kasper gasped, concern etched on his face. He turned her to face him and gently touched her forehead, checking for signs of illness. “Are you unwell?” he asked with genuine worry.

Asura simply stared at him, her mind racing elsewhere. Her gaze dropped to his lips, and she found herself wondering if he knew how to kiss, if he could ignite the passion she was feeling.
“Kasper,” she breathed, her voice barely a whisper, drawing his attention back to her.
“Huh? What is it? Are you in pain or something? But your temperature seems normal. Why are you feeling hot?” he asked innocently, oblivious to the thoughts racing through her mind.
“Do you know how to kiss?” Asura asked, her curiosity getting the better of her as she stared into his parted lips. Kasper appeared taken aback by her question, his expression uncertain.
“I…” he breathed, his voice trailing off as he searched for words.
“You’ve never kissed a woman?” Asura questioned, seeking clarity.
Kasper nodded, his cheeks turning slightly pink under her intense gaze.
“Do you want to kiss me?” she asked with a hint of playfulness in her voice.
Kasper gulped audibly, his eyes betraying his desire. “Desperately…” he admitted, his voice husky with longing.
Asura’s eyes sparkled with mischief with a smirk playing on her lips. “So why not kiss me now?” she teased, her tone laced with seduction.
“Can I?” Kasper breathed, his eyes fixed on her parted lips, seeking permission and reassurance.
“Just do it before I change my mind…” Asura impatiently urged, her heart racing with anticipation.
She opened her mouth to say something but was abruptly silenced by Kasper’s lips pressing against hers. His kiss was hungry, almost desperate as if he intended to devour her completely.
Asura inwardly cursed as she felt his mouth suckle her lips alternately. For someone who claimed no experience, Kasper was remarkably skilled.
His hand moved to the back of her neck, deepening the kiss. His tongue slid into her mouth, searching and probing, urging her own to join in the dance. Asura moaned, feeling herself grow wetter with each passing moment.
Kasper’s hand found her breast, cupping it through her clothes. The sensation sent a shiver down her spine, and she moaned into his mouth. The desire to spread her legs for him was overwhelming. She battled with herself, remembering her vow to not easily surrender her body. But Kasper was making it incredibly difficult to resist.
As Kasper’s own desires grew, his magic subconsciously took over. In an instant, they were transported from the cool night air to the privacy of his tent. The transition was so seamless that it took Asura a moment to realize they had moved.
Kasper broke the kiss momentarily, his eyes dark with lust as he gazed at her. “I couldn’t risk someone interrupting us,” he whispered, his breath hot against her skin.
The intimacy of the tent only heightened the electric tension between them. Kasper resumed kissing her, this time with even more fervor. His hands roamed her body, leaving trails of fire wherever they touched. Asura’s resolve was crumbling, her body betraying her as she leaned into his touch.
In that moment, all her vows and promises seemed distant and insignificant. The only thing that mattered was the man in front of her, and the overwhelming need to be closer to him.
