The Crown's Fire - Chapter 28
Chapter 28: Soon Be My Queen
Instead of going back to where Ebodian soldiers currently stood, Tarah headed to another direction with her horse. She only pulled the reins when she felt that she was far enough from Ezekiel.
After dismounting, she closed her eyes and took a deep breath.
From what she knew, the Tophet Bloodchain spell, which Devon cast on her, allowed her to communicate with Devon whenever she wanted, just like how it was supposed to give a way for him to communicate with her through her subconscious mind.
Thankfully, luck seemed to be on her side since the spell didn’t work on Devon’s end. To the demon king’s great dismay, he was unable to communicate with her.
At the time, she rejoiced deep inside when she saw Devon enraged like a madman due to the failure of his spell. Although she had been tortured for a day because of it, it was nothing compared to the peace of mind she got from knowing that he wouldn’t be able to reach and torment her once she was by Ezekiel’s side.
However, unlike her, the spell still worked with her little brother. If she ever said a thing against Devon, Levi would feel pain in his body in her stead. There were even times when her little brother got sick just because she thought of killing Devon. As such, Tarah assumed that the spell was connected to whatever she spoke and thought.
Since then, for fear of her brother getting hurt, Tarah had done nothing but be Devon’s submissive mistress.
Channeling her thoughts and inner energy through the mark on her back, Tarah whispered, “My Lord, I need to see you.”
Instantly, a black portal appeared before her. Tarah quickly stepped inside and the portal disappeared as quickly as it appeared.
Tarah balled her fists the moment she found herself back in the confined chamber she hated the most. It was Devon’s favorite hang-out place—her bedchamber. As she expected, Devon was sitting on the edge of her bed with a wide smile on his face.
“What took you so long to contact me!?” he roared.
Tarah immediately bowed her head and explained, “Pardon me, My Lord. It’s not easy to contact you while having the prince’s eyes on me. He’s suspicious, and I have to be careful not to catch their ire.”
She then added, “He offered me the choice to not become the fated Seer of the Kingdom even after I ascended as well. If not for Princess Xenia’s interference, he might have succeeded in making me leave.”
“Why would he do that when everyone knows that Ebodia’s Fated Seer is the only key for their kingdom’s survival!?” Devon barked.
“I will find out if there’s a notable reason for it, My Lord,” Tarah answered.
She too wondered about what Ezekiel’s reason for that could be. At any point, she could still feel how wary he was of her.
“Raise your head!” Devon demanded.
She inwardly clicked her tongue. Oh, how she never wanted to see his face again!
For her, the Demon King looked worse than a monster despite how good his facial features were. She gritted her teeth when she felt his familiar presence nearing her. His scent made her feel so dizzy in disgust that she was feeling nauseous.
As expected, he pulled her closer to him, with his arm on her waist, and abruptly pulled on her hair, giving him a proper view of her face.
Now face to face, Tarah clenched her jaw and balled her fists hard as his nose nudged against the skin of her neck. His tongue licked and suckled on her, relishing her taste like he owned her.
She used to cry whenever he did such things, but after three years of enduring the same torment, it seemed that her body could no longer care less about all the abuse she was getting from the demon. Her tears had already dried out from her time with him.
“I need to see the Zion Priests in the Dungeons, My Lord,” she coolly stated. “It’s very important since time is running out. The dragon inside Prince Ezekiel can’t take over at the moment, and its great spiritual power is still seale-”
Tarah froze when she heard her dress being torn off. She had a feeling about what was to happen, but she did her best to remain calm.
“Right. Time is running out, my Queen. We must take the dragon’s power in that fool’s hands so that I can finally have all of you and put myself inside of you,” Devon cackled. “Once I have my hands on such great power, I won’t need your gift of foresight anymore!”
Tarah could only shut her eyes tight as her body stiffened in disgust. It was as if she was in hell, and she could barely stomach Devon’s presence like this.
The only thing she could do now was to think of what was happening to her right now as another nightmare.
Moments passed and Devon was finally done with her. Tarah quickly dressed up before anything else could happen. Then, her face paled the moment the door swung open and Leviticus entered.
“Sister!” Levi, who was now five years old, ran towards her and hugged her tightly with teary eyes. “I knew you’d come back.”
“See how much your little brother is looking for you?” Devon hummed behind her back while he playfully held the strands of her hair. “You should come back often, My Queen. This silver white hair also looks good on you. I wonder if you acquired another ability after ascending as Ebodia’s fated Seer.”

Another ability? Tarah didn’t know of anything she got after all was said and done. Was it the possibility of her being a Dragonrider then? Like a dormant ability in her that got awakened?
“I don’t know yet, My Lord,” Tarah answered.
“I’m sure that the prince won’t be that suspicious of you now since I played well in liking her sister more when I manifested myself in one of my spies,” Devon remarked as if waiting for her to reward him. “I didn’t give them a hint that the Seer before them is my woman.”
“Thank you, My Lord,” Tarah grunted.
Devon laughed hard at his own actions. “I feel bad that you can no longer act as fiercely as you had been before I gave you the mark.”
He then touched Levi’s head and said, “I should treat you better, little Levi, seeing how well-behaved your sister is just to keep you safe.”
‘Enough with this nonsense!’ she inwardly screamed.
“My Lord, I need to go back soon. Please allow me to meet the Priests to find out more about the Dragon King,” she wryly stated. “We’re in a hurry for it to awaken its full power, right?”
“Oh, right. I will allow you to leave then,” he hummed with amusement. “Also, from now on, you don’t need to wear a veil to hide your face. In addition, as a reward for your obedience, I will grant you full access to the castle. After all, you’ll soon be my queen…”
