The Crown's Fire - Chapter 304
Chapter 304: Clearing the Field
Master Kasper turned briefly, his eyes narrowing in approval at Apollo’s timely intervention. “Good! Hold that position, Apollo. I’ll deal with the rest!”
Apollo nodded, but the attackers were relentless. He gritted his teeth, expanding the protective barrier while simultaneously hurling bursts of green energy toward their enemies.
Zane’s presence amplified his strength, guiding his movements as he took down several dark magic wielders who dared to approach.
Inside the barrier, Asura steadied herself. “I can fight, Apollo. I just need a moment to recover.”
Asura grunted and muttered, “This should be the happiest day of my life… I just found out I’m pregnant this morning. No wonder I’ve been feeling weak and nauseous lately, like right now. I can’t even mount Snow without feeling like I’m going to vomit…”
Apollo chuckled, though his eyes betrayed his determination. “And this should’ve been my honeymoon too. Damn, Devon and his followers! Today, we’ll end them all and make sure none of them remain!”
Apollo glanced back at Asura, her strength slowly returning. “Ready to move?” he asked, his voice steady but urgent.
“Yes,” she replied, her tone resolute. “Let’s end this.”
High above the battlefield, the air was alive with the deafening roars of dragons and the crackling energy of unleashed magic. Two dark dragons, their scales pulsing with black veins of corrupted power, faced off against three majestic beasts. Jade, Luis’s emerald-scaled dragon, flanked Aurum, the brilliant gold dragon carrying Cora, while Snow, the sleek white dragon, danced through the chaos with icy precision.
The corrupted dragons exhaled streams of shadowy fire, their breath leaving trails of searing destruction in the sky. But Jade answered with a torrent of emerald magic, its glow like a beacon of hope against the darkness. The two forces collided mid-air in a dazzling explosion that sent shockwaves rippling across the battlefield below.
Luis leaned forward on Jade, his sword raised high, amplifying Jade’s attack with his own magic. “Keep pushing! Don’t let them regroup!”
Aurum and Cora flew in from the side, the golden dragon darting nimbly through the aerial melee. Cora’s enchanted arrows shimmered as they streaked toward the nearest dark dragon. Each arrow found its mark, embedding itself into the beast’s thick hide and exploding with divine energy. The dark dragon roared in pain, its flight faltering for a moment.
Meanwhile, Snow soared above the fray, and unleashed a freezing breath that blanketed the other dark dragon’s wings, slowing its movements.
“One’s faltering!” Apollo shouted from below, his gaze fixed on the battle. Despite the tension on the ground, he felt a surge of hope. “They’ve got this.”
The crippled dark dragon spiraled downward, its wing stiffened by Snow’s icy assault. Jade and Luis dove after it, the emerald dragon slashing at its vulnerable underbelly with claws glowing green. Luis struck a decisive blow with his sword, the light of his magic piercing the beast’s corrupted heart.
“That’s one down!” Apollo cheered, his fist pumping in triumph.
Up in the sky, Aurum and Snow focused on the remaining dark dragon, which had grown even more feral after losing its ally. It let out an ear-splitting roar and surged upward, unleashing a wave of dark energy that crackled like lightning.
“Hold steady, Aurum!” Cora shouted as Aurum banked hard to avoid the attack. The golden dragon retaliated with a radiant blast from its jaws, the light cutting through the darkness like a blade.
Snow dove into the fray, slashing at the dark dragon’s flank with razor-sharp claws before retreating quickly. The dark dragon thrashed in frustration, trying to keep up with the coordinated attacks of its enemies.
“Its energy is waning!” Cora called out. “One more push!”
Jade rejoined the fight, the three dragons circling their prey in a synchronized attack. As the dark dragon opened its maw for another attack, Aurum struck first, landing a devastating blow to its chest with his claws.
Snow followed up, her icy breath freezing the beast’s wings completely. Finally, Jade delivered the finishing blow, a blast of green magic that shattered the corrupted dragon’s form and sent it crashing to the earth in a lifeless heap.
The sky fell silent, the victory resounding as the three dragons roared triumphantly.
Apollo let out a breath he hadn’t realized he was holding.
“Incredible,” he murmured, watching the victorious dragons circle back toward the battlefield. The moment of relief was fleeting as the ground beneath Apollo trembled ominously. The chaos of the battlefield was far from over.
Master Kasper, standing amidst the wreckage, raised his staff and unleashed a powerful blast of mist imbued with divine energy. The mist surged forward, wrapping around the remaining black magic wielders. They clutched their throats, collapsing to their knees, coughing blood as their corrupted magic recoiled against them.
“Kasper!” Asura’s voice was filled with concern as she rushed to her husband, whose knees buckled slightly under his weight.
Kasper gave her a weary smile, his breaths labored. “I’m fine, wife. Just drained after using almost all of my stored energy. Decades of effort, gone in an instant,” he joked, trying to lighten the grim atmosphere. “I suppose I’ll finally start aging like a normal man. No more youthful glow.”
Asura chuckled despite herself, gently holding his arm to steady him. “Good. I’d rather see you with wrinkles than endure you flaunting your ageless skin while I wither.”
Apollo, observing their exchange, shook his head with a faint smile. “Even now, you two find time to bicker.”

But his moment of amusement was short-lived as one of the sorcerers, still kneeling and coughing blood, sneered defiantly. “You think this is over? Do you really believe you’ll survive? Lord Devon has likely already taken your queen and slaughtered your king! Your efforts here mean nothing!”
Apollo’s expression darkened. “Big words for someone on their last breath,” he muttered. Turning to Master Kasper, he said, “I’ll take care of this trash.”
Without hesitation, Apollo summoned a green sphere of energy, its surface crackling with the power of the dragon spirit within him. With precision, he hurled the orbs at the fallen sorcerers, one by one. Each impact erupted in emerald flames, consuming their corrupted forms and leaving nothing but ashes in their wake.
As the last of the enemies disintegrated, Apollo turned to Asura and Kasper. “Rest here for a moment. Reinforcements should arrive soon.” His gaze lifted to the sky, scanning for Aurum and Cora. “I’ll make sure no one else disrupts this battle.”
Cora’s golden dragon, Aurum, descended gracefully. She leapt down and landed beside Apollo, her eyes sharp and determined.
“Done showing off, husband?” Cora teased lightly, her voice a blend of relief and tension.
Apollo grinned, though his tone was serious. “Just clearing the field for you. Let’s regroup with the others and finish this. There’s no room for mistakes now.”
“What about the Queen? Is she safe?” Asura asked, her voice trembling with both fear and hope as she clung to Kasper’s arm.
Apollo grinned, his confidence radiating despite the lingering tension. “Don’t worry about her,” he said, his tone reassuring. “They anticipated this. My cousin’s plan is already in motion, and trust me, Ezekiel doesn’t leave anything to chance.”
