The Crown's Fire - Chapter 44
Chapter 44: Also A Seer
In the kingdom of Helion
“My Lord, a golden dragon has been seen flying in the sky!” one of Devon’s sorcerers reported to him while he was inside Sibil’s quarters to check on him.
Hearing the news, Devon cursed as he then handed the journal to Sibil who was still on the bed recuperating.
“Such news will be dealt with later. In the meantime, that arm I attached to you should be sufficient enough for you to get back to work in a few days. You just need to tolerate the pain whenever you use it,” he stated. “For now, study that journal and make sure you’re ready to extract the dragon’s power whenever I call for you.”
“Yes, Master,” Sibil answered.
With his work done, Devon left and went straight to the throne hall. Once he arrived, he sat on his throne, and right then bad reports started coming to him.
“Valcrez’s reinforcements defeated our war fleets stationed at the northeast of Ebodia’s boundaries.”
“Call for Zoran!” he commanded.
A soldier quickly tried to follow his orders, but he came back empty handed after a short while. “My Lord, warlock Zoran was not in his quarters.”
Devon’s face fell as he quickly contacted Zoran through his bond with him. [Zoran…]
[Yes, Master,] Zoran answered.
[You’ve been fooling around! Valcrez and their King are blocking my way to conquering Ebodia!] Devon bellowed. [Do something about it! You know what will happen to you if you become useless, Zoran!]
With but a thought, Devon then inflicted great pain all over Zoran’s body. He then turned his eyes to Asura who was still on her knees before him.
“Tell me everything you witnessed right until you stepped foot at Zion with her,” he commanded her.
Left with no other choice, Asura told him everything she knew right from the start. She didn’t leave anything unsaid as she told him about what she knew about Her Ladyship.
“Scrolls?” Devon questioned with a frown. “And it just vanished?”
“Yes, My Lord,” Asura answered. “She said that it has a strong protective spell, something that would make it disappear if it fell into the hands of someone unauthorized to possess it.”
Devon balled his fists as he gritted his teeth in anger. What was that woman up to?
“Or maybe she was just lying? What if it doesn’t actually vanish? What if she simply absorbed it?” Marla asked with a smirk. “You should consider how Her Ladyship comes from a family who are well versed in spellcraft.”
Hearing the woman speak made Asura want to just pull on the hair of the woman who was glued to the Demon King. She kept whispering in his ear just to make sure that she painted their Princess in a negative light.
Grinding her teeth, Asura tried her best not to talk and simply remained quiet despite itching to defend their princess. Despite her wants, it was best to be safe and not to cause suspicion like what their princess wanted. As such, Asura reminded herself to only speak when she was spoken to.
“Marla, give the little Prince to Asura,” Devon suddenly commanded. “From now on, she will look after him.”
“What?! Why are you being this loose with her?!” Marla retorted. “This isn’t you!”
“Are you questioning my decision, Marla? Do you want to replace her in her mission for me then?” Devon challenged. “Do it if you can… Give me the dragon’s power!”
Asura inwardly grinned upon seeing Marla become speechless. Still, the fact remained that the woman was one of Devon’s most trusted people like Sibil. Marla was the only one she knew who could talk back to Devon without ending up being punished or worse, dying on the spot.
Time passed, and Devon soon dismissed her. With her new task, Asura quickly went to the tower where Prince Leviticus was kept.
As soon as she entered, his eyes widened seeing the little boy tied upside down on his bed.
“What is this!?”
Alarmed, she quickly approached Leviticus and untied him.
“He’s been stubborn and not listening well, so I’m teaching him a lesson!” Marla naively told her from behind. No wonder why their princess wanted her to look after Levi.

“Lady Asura,” Levi hugged her as the little boy sobbed.
Untying the boy, she comforted him and said, “Shhh, it’s alright. I’ll be the one to assist you now.”
She tried her best to control her temper with the boy in her arms. Still, she turned to Marla and said, “I will take over everything he needs until Her Ladyship’s return now. Also, Her Ladyship wanted to give you this.”
Gently pushing Levi aside, Asura then handed a parchment to Marla. She didn’t know what was written inside, but it looked like it was good enough to piss Marla off.
“That bjtch!” Marla barked aloud as she left the bedchamber. “I will kill her!”
Asura shook her head at the sight before letting out a sigh of relief. She then turned to the little boy and affectionately patted his head.
“Lady Asura, when will m-my sister r-return?” Levi stuttered as he wiped away the tears on his cheeks.
“Hmm… I don’t know when, Levi but I’m sure she will return soon,” Asura said with a gentle smile.
“Right…” he nodded. “Big sister told me that there’s no one I can trust in here except for you, Lady Asura.”
“She did?” Asura questioned. That was surprising. She didn’t even trust herself, so why would the Princess trust her this much? Couldn’t she see all the mistakes she made in the past?
“Yes. She said that you’re like a sister to her and that I should behave and listen well whenever I’m with you, Lady Asura,” Levi enthusiastically stated with glimmering eyes. “Can I also call you Big Sis now?”
Speechless, she simply nodded. In response, the little boy hugged her.
“Don’t worry, Lady Asura. Just be patient,” Leviticus raised his head at her with an adorable grin. “The right man will come your way soon.”
“What?!” she burst out, mouth agape.
“He’s quite ancient though…” the little boy added with a wink.
“Levi, can you also-” she stopped herself from talking as she looked around first. “Did you casually talk to others like this and tell them things?”
Levi shook his head. “I didn’t… Sister will get angry if I do.”
Asura stared at Levi in disbelief. He was also a Seer?!
Her eyes then suddenly sparkled as she asked, “Can you describe to me how he looks?”
