The Crown's Fire - Chapter 58
Chapter 58: The Tophet Bloodchain Spell
As the days passed by, Tarah worked hard to encourage Ezekiel to have strong and stable control over Vulcan’s soul. She was also glad that Queen Dana, together with wizard Lurio, would always come by to help in the process and smoothen things along.
This was a very crucial moment for Prince Ezekiel, so they had to do everything in their power to help him get his body back from Vulcan. In addition, Tarah also asked wizard Lurio for help with various spells, specifically the teleportation spell outside the cave so that they wouldn’t disturb Queen Dana in her meditation while she tried to communicate to Ezekiel’s soul.
“You have a great amount of mana in you. I’m sure that in due time, you will perfect these spells you’re working on,” Lurio praised as Tarah managed to create a bigger portal compared to before. She managed to hold it long enough as well. “Now, the important thing here is to channel your energy properly so that you can direct your portal to the correct location you want it to be.”
Tarah narrowed her brows as she took note of everything the wizard taught her. By the time she was done, she was panting from exhaustion.
“You’re in a hurry to learn, I see,” Lurio noted. “Your motivation is a good thing, but you might drain yourself if you continue at this pace.”
Tarah had a faint smile as she replied, “I’m good. I just need to learn as fast as I can. The spells I asked for can be very handy in times of need, especially for emergencies.”
“You’re born with remarkable mana, so magic and spells shouldn’t be too hard for you,” Wizard Lurio stated with a scolding tone. “However, you must consider that everything takes time.”
“Don’t worry, Master,” she chuckled. “I’ll make sure to remember.”
It was a recent development that she started calling him Master, even though he already told her that there was no need for it since she was their kingdom’s seer. According to him, she should be formally and respectfully addressed as well.
With their training done, Tarah quickly composed herself before making her way back towards the cave with Wizard Lurio. Still, despite their training being over, she still had a question in her mind.
“Do you think Her Majesty will be able to also teach me how to break a Tophet Bloodchain Spell?”
She was unsure if Queen Dana had mentioned it to Lurio, but she really hoped he was familiar with it.
“I’m not familiar with the spell you mentioned, unfortunately,” Lurio remarked with a frown.
Tarah’s shoulders slumped. It looked like she had to go to Queen Dana directly for the spell she wanted.
“That’s understandable. Only angels knew of the spell, after all, especially since it’s a spell that only a demon or a pureblooded demon can cast…” Tarah explained. “I saw it in one of my visions. It’s unclear, but I have a feeling that I must master how to break this spell.”
She did her best to avoid looking at Lurio as she lied. She couldn’t directly mention to him that it was actually a spell that Devon placed on her for fear that it could somehow cause pain to her brother.
“You should directly ask Queen Dana about it then,” Lurio advised.
“Yes, I’ll do it once I see an opportunity,” Tarah nodded with a smile.
The two of them then continued onward. As they entered the cave, Queen Dana was still meditating before the dragon. But after some time, she coughed as she slowly opened her eyes. Tarah and Wizard Lurio were quick to check on her current state.
“You’ve reached your limit,” Tarah advised after assessing the Queen’s body. “This…”
She frowned deeply because she barely felt the divine power in the queen. She was an angel, so it should still be there, right?
“Your divine energy….” she gasped.
Queen Dana gave her a weak smile as she informed her. “It’s slowly fading away from my body,” she explained. “I’ll soon turn into a mortal. A normal human being.”
‘That can’t be…’ Tarah inwardly thought.
She had heard of the same case happening from Devon’s discussions with some of his warlocks. There was a reason why he wasn’t using his demonic powers unless they were needed. In truth, divine powers acted the same as demons. It’s just that theirs were referred to as demonic because they chose to become demons and taint that divine energy with evil and darkness.
“You gave your all in sealing the dragon souls years ago,” Tarah muttered.
“It’s inevitable. Or else, those souls would remain wandering around and disturbing other beings as they try to merge and find their souls a suitable host,” Queen Dana explained as she got back on her feet.
Tarah simply stared at the queen, biting her inner cheek as she contemplated on whether or not to ask the queen about the Tophet bloodchain spell right then.
As if sensing her turmoil, Lurio suddenly looked at her and informed, “Oh, Queen Dana is slowly forgetting about her celestial origin from the heavens, and that includes some of the divine knowledge she learned from the heavens…”
“Why?” Queen Dana asked. “Is there something wrong?”

“I want to know how to learn a few spells,” she admitted. “Most especially, I want to break a particular spell called the Tophet bloodchain spell.”
There was no other choice. She shouldn’t hesitate now, especially upon knowing the queen’s critical situation.
“I know how, but I’m not sure if I can still manage to break that kind of spell,” Queen Dana told her. She was looking intently at her with a creased forehead, and somehow, it made Tarah uncomfortable.
Queen Dana’s eyebrows raised as she asked, “Why do you need to learn it?”
“I saw a vision about it, Your Majesty,” Tarah answered with a faint smile. “It’s still unclear to me as well, but I have a strong feeling that I must learn this spell as soon as possible.”
“Alright then. I’ll check on this spell. I actually keep a journal on such things, writing down important information before I eventually forget all about them,” The Queen answered. “I plan to hand it to Wizard Lurio in due time. For now, however, let’s focus on the task at hand, and that’s for Ezekiel to be back in his human form. We can talk about this tophet bloodchain spell once everything with my son is settled.”
“Thank you, Your Majesty,” she meekly answered with a curt bow. “I fully understand.”
Looking at the queen’s hands, Tarah couldn’t help but wonder if she would be able to see anything important if she touched her, and she was about to do just that when the queen suddenly moved away.
“We need to go back now,” the queen said with a stern look. “Please look after Ezekiel once we’re gone.”
