Chapter 152: Wake the Hell Up
POV: Caspian
The battlefield was a fucking mess.
Seven left. Three on their side.
But—
What mattered now was finishing this fight.
He turned to Rafael.
The bastard had one capsule left.
Caspian didn’t bother waiting.
He exploded forward.
Feral Charge.
In a blink, his fist smashed into Rafael’s face.
A loud crack.
Rafael stumbled, dazed.
Caspian didn’t stop.
Another hit.
A knee to the ribs.
Rafael gasped, trying to steady himself—
Caspian grabbed his collar and pulled him in close.
“Fuck Yourself”
Then, without hesitation—
An elbow to the chest.
The final capsule shattered.
[Rafael eliminated.]
Now 3 vs 3.
—
[POV: Kairos]
His hands were shaking.
He clenched them into fists, forcing himself to focus.
His mind wouldn’t shut up.
The moment Calenthir eliminated he should have moved.
Follow new episodes on the "N0vel1st.c0m".
Should have acted.
Should have fought.
But his body froze.
The past wouldn’t let go.
The memory of that day—the maid, the blood, the air magic spiraling out of control—
His breath stuttered.
His grip on his dagger loosened.
And then—
Pain.
A fist slammed into his gut.
His vision blurred.
What—?!
He barely had time to react before another hit crashed into his ribs.
Kairos gasped, stumbling back.
His eyes shot up—
Caspian.
Staring at him. Expression blank.
But his eyes—
Cold. Sharp. Unforgiving.
The next punch came. Kairos barely raised his arms in time, blocking—but the impact still rattled his bones.
“W-What the hell are you—”
Another hit.
Another.
Caspian wasn’t holding back.
—
[POV: Caspian]
Kairos finally reacted.
Took a step back. Raised his arms. Blocked.
Caspian exhaled.
“Finally.”
Kairos’s eyes snapped up, confusion and frustration flashing through them.
“What the fuck is wrong with you?” he hissed.
Caspian didn’t answer.
Didn’t need to.
He lunged again.
Kairos dodged.
Good.
Caspian tilted his head. “You awake now?”
Kairos gritted his teeth. “You just fucking attacked me.”
“You want to drown in your past?” His tone sharpened. “Fine. Do it after we win.”
Kairos’s fists tightened.
Caspian turned immediattely.
“Fight properly,” he muttered, “or I’ll knock your ass out myself.”
Then, without another word, he rushed toward the next opponent.
—
POV: Kairos
His breath was ragged.
His ribs ached.
Caspian’s words still rang in his head.
“Fight properly.”
Kairos wanted to.
But his body—
His damn body—
Wouldn’t move right.
Wouldn’t respond the way it should.
Wouldn’t stop hesitating.
The air around him stirred, but it was sluggish. His control was still off.
Not like before.
Not like back then—
A shadow moved.
Kairos barely had time to register the incoming strike.
A blade, swinging toward his side.
He jumped back, instincts kicking in at the last second.
The dagger sliced past his ribs, grazing him.
His mind snapped back to the fight.
His opponent—Rowen.
Short. Light on her feet. Fast.
A grin flashed across her face as she twisted, launching another attack.
Kairos reacted on instinct, air magic flaring—
Too slow.
Too weak.
The next strike slammed into his shoulder, his feet skidding against the dirt.
His heart pounded.
She wasn’t stopping.
She was relentless.
His mind screamed at him to focus.
To counter.
To move.
But his body froze.
That hesitation—
That damn hesitation.
And then—
A sharp impact to his ribs.
A cold shock ran through his body. His vision blurred for a split second—
One of his capsules exploded.
—
[POV: Caspian]
He heard the sound.
A sharp crack.
Caspian’s gaze snapped to the side—just in time to see Kairos staggering.
His first capsule, gone.
His opponent, Rowen, moved like a phantom. Quick. Precise. Deadly.
And Kairos—
Wasn’t reacting fast enough.
Caspian grit his teeth.
Damn it.
He’d just snapped the idiot back into the fight, but it wasn’t enough.
Kairos was still hesitating.
Still holding back.
Still too damn afraid.
His mind flickered back to his own fight.
Vera had taken out one of the enemies—Ciroth, probably. That left 2 opponents.
—
POV: Kairos
Rowen’s next attack came.
A dagger. Spinning. Aimed for his throat.
Kairos barely ducked.
His air magic—didn’t reacted.
His focus broke.
And that’s when she struck.
A sharp knee to his stomach.
A dagger across his side.
His second capsule burst.
This was it.
One capsule left.
And Kairos still wasn’t fighting back properly.
He saw Rowen step forward.
Saw the glint of her weapon.
Saw the finishing blow coming—
But he still couldn’t move.
His body wouldn’t listen.
It was happening again.
And then—
A gunshot-like sound.
A powerful gust of wind.
Rowen staggered.
Kairos’s eyes widened.
What?
He wasn’t controlling it.
But the air around him had moved—violently.
His heart slammed in his chest.
His breath came faster.
That wasn’t normal.
That wasn’t just him.
Rowen hesitated, her gaze sharp. She felt it too.
And in that split second—
She attacked again.
Kairos had no time to react.
A dagger straight to the chest.
His vision shook. His body froze.
A burst of light.
The last capsule, gone.
A sharp ringing filled his ears.
And then—
Darkness.
[Kairos]
—
POV: Vera
Yes.
Kairos was out.
The idiot didn’t even put up a real fight.
Vera clicked his tongue.
That left him and Caspian.
He narrowed his eyes.
He needed to kill one more as promised team Z was performing better than he thought
….
[POV: Caspian]
His breath was steady. His heartbeat, controlled.
But the situation? Far from ideal.
A 1 vs 2 fight.
With Vera at his back—but not really.
Caspian had noticed it immediately.
The way Vera hesitated.
The way his arrows came half a second too late.
The way he wasn’t covering openings the way he should.
It wasn’t obvious. Not to an outsider.
But Caspian had fought enough battles to know.
Vera wasn’t playing at full capacity.
That was fine.
Caspian adjusted his grip on Bloodmoon. His fingers curled around the hilt. The blade hummed slightly in his hand, sensing the tension in the air.
His two opponents circled him.
One was Rowen—the girl who had eliminated Kairos and calenthir. Fast. Calculated. Precise.
The other was Ezekiel. A towering fighter with an iron gauntlet covering his left arm. Heavy hitter. Durable.
Two vastly different styles.
Both aiming to end him.
Caspian exhaled.
Fine.
Rowen moved first.
A flicker of movement—then she was gone.
Caspian’s eyes snapped to the right.
There.
She reappeared in his blind spot, her dagger flashing toward his ribs.
He twisted, sidestepping just enough to avoid a direct hit. The blade grazed his armor, metal scraping against metal.
She was quick—too quick.
If he just played defensive, he’d be cut apart piece by piece.
Which meant—
He couldn’t just dodge.
He had to strike back.
Caspian’s foot dug into the ground. His body coiled like a spring.
Then—
He lunged.
Bloodmoon’s blade sang through the air, a sharp arc aimed directly at Rowen’s shoulder.
A feint.
Rowen moved to block—just as Caspian twisted his wrist, redirecting the strike downward.
A split-second adjustment—
But enough.
His blade bit into her thigh.
Rowen hissed, stumbling back.
Not a deep wound.
But a warning.
Caspian wasn’t an easy target.
And then—
A fist.
Ezekiel came from behind.
Caspian barely had time to react.
A gauntlet-covered punch—aimed at his back.
He turned—
Too late.
BAM!
A solid impact slammed into his ribs.
A shock of pain exploded through his side.
His feet skidded against the dirt, his body tilting.
His head snapped up—just in time to see Rowen charging again.
Her dagger aimed for his throat.
Caspian’s instincts kicked in.
His foot dug in.
His body shifted.
A sharp twist—
And Bloodmoon met the dagger.
Steel against steel.
A sharp, ringing clash. Sparks flew.
The force behind her strike was immense.
But Caspian held firm.
He pushed—
And she stumbled.
That opening—
He took it.
His fist shot forward.
A brutal punch.
His knuckles slammed into her jaw.
Her head snapped back. Her body staggered.
Perfect.
Caspian didn’t let up.
His sword swung.
A fast, decisive slash.
Rowen couldn’t dodge.
The blade cut clean across her side.
Her last capsule exploded.
A burst of light—then her body vanished.
[Rowen Eliminated.]
One down.
Ezekiel didn’t hesitate.
The moment Rowen disappeared, he charged.
A low, powerful rush.
His iron gauntlet gleamed under the arena lights.
Caspian tensed.
He could tell.
Ezekiel was going for the kill.
One strong, full-powered punch.
If it landed, it was over.
Caspian’s mind raced.
Dodge?
No. He’d just keep charging.
Block?
Not an option. The force behind that hit would shatter his guard.
Which meant—
He had to end it.
Now.
Before that punch landed.
Caspian stepped forward.
Straight into Ezekiel’s range.
A reckless move.
An unexpected move.
But that was why it worked.
Ezekiel’s eyes widened. His attack was already in motion—too late to adjust.
And Caspian—
Was already inside his guard.
His sword flipped in his grip.
Hilt forward.
He drove it upward.
A brutal strike—
Right into Ezekiel’s chin.
A loud crack.
The force sent Ezekiel’s head snapping backward.
His body froze.
And then—
Caspian drove his knee into his stomach.
A full-powered, bone-crushing impact.
Ezekiel choked.
The gauntlet on his arm flickered. His body trembled—
Then—
A sharp burst of energy.
His last capsule shattered.
A final gasp—before he vanished in a flash of light.
[Ezekiel Eliminated.]
—
[POV: Vera]
Vera watched from a distance, his bow still drawn.
He hadn’t fired a single shot in the last minute.
And yet—
Caspian had won anyway.
He clicked his tongue.
“Crazy bastard.”
It was supposed to be a 1 vs 2.
And yet—
Caspian had made it look like a 1 vs 1.
Vera slowly lowered his bow.
This wasn’t good.
Caspian was catching on.
Maybe not completely—
But he was watching.
And Vera knew.
If he noticed the truth—
It was over.
But for now—
Vera put on a smirk.
Acted like nothing was wrong.
And walked forward, joining Caspian.
“Not bad,” he said, voice casual. “Guess we’re down to the final round.”
Caspian barely looked at him.
His gaze was sharp. Unreadable.
Then—
He smirked.
And Vera felt it.
Something dangerous.
Like Caspian wasn’t buying the act.
Like he already suspected.
Vera exhaled.
He needed to move carefully.
Because this wasn’t just a battle anymore.
This was a game of survival.
