Chapter 53: The Desperate Stand.
The creature turned its glowing eyes toward him, but it was too late.
Caspian moved like a shadow, his blade flashing in the dim light of the clearing.
With a single, fluid motion, he drove the edge of his sword—Bloodmoon—into the beast’s chest.
The creature let out a final, guttural growl before collapsing, its massive body hitting the ground with a heavy thud.
Caspian pulled his blade free, his eyes already on Zareth as he ran to his side.
“You run away!” Zareth croaked, his voice strained and weak.
He struggled to push himself up but collapsed again, his body trembling from blood loss.
“There are more monsters… they might be coming. At least you live.”
“Shut up, you idiot,” Caspian snapped, crouching beside him.
“I’m not leaving you behind. So stop talking and save your strength.”. Caspian said.
Zareth’s lips twitched into a weak, defiant smirk.
“Always so stubborn…” Zareth said.
Before Caspian could respond, the forest erupted with noise.
Twigs snapped, and the sound of heavy footsteps and guttural growls filled the air.
Caspian turned his head, his stomach sinking as he saw movement in the shadows.
Then they appeared.
Around Fifteen monsters emerged from the treeline, their twisted forms illuminated by the faint light filtering through the canopy.
They were smaller than the first beast but no less menacing, their razor-sharp claws and predatory eyes locked on the two men.
“Run, Ed,” Zareth said, his voice barely audible. “We’re outnumbered.”
Caspian glanced at him, then at the approaching monsters.
He tightened his grip on his sword and stood, placing himself between Zareth and the oncoming threat.
“Not happening,” he muttered.
“ROOOAARRR”
The monsters roared.
Caspian’s mind raced, his survival instincts screaming at him to retreat.
“UNLEASH!” Caspian muttered.
Suddenly, eight lupivores materialized in the clearing, their sleek forms bristling with power.
Their glowing eyes locked onto the approaching monsters, and a low, collective growl rumbled from their throats.
But Caspian wasn’t done.

From the same shimmering energy, twenty miniature goblins emerged, their small but agile forms armed with crude weapons.
They chittered excitedly, eager for the fight ahead.
Caspian smirked, his confidence bolstered by the reinforcements.
He glanced back at Zareth, who was staring at him in disbelief.
“Stay down, Zareth,” Caspian said, his voice calm and steady. “We’re not done yet.”
The clearing erupted into chaos as the monsters charged, the lupivores and goblins meeting them head-on.
Caspian stood at the center of the fray.
The clearing was a storm of chaos and blood.
Caspian’s lupivores moved in perfect synchronicity, leaping at the snarling monsters with sharp claws and fangs.
The goblins followed close behind, their high-pitched shrieks echoing as they lunged with their crude weapons, tearing into the smaller beasts.
But the monsters were relentless.
For every beast brought down, two more seemed to take its place, their crimson eyes glowing with hunger.
[A/N: it means more monster were coming not the same monster were turning into two]
Their movements were fast—too fast.
“Hold the line!” Caspian roared.
SLASH!
His blade flashed like fire lightning, cutting through the thick hide of a lunging creature.
The beast collapsed at his feet, but another was already closing in.
THUD!
A lupivore slammed into the attacker mid-leap, saving Caspian by a fraction of a second.
“Grrrrrr”
The wolf-like summon yelped in pain as the monster’s claws raked its side, spilling shimmering energy like blood.
“Damn it!” Caspian hissed.
He had to keep moving, keep fighting.
Behind him, Zareth slumped against a tree, struggling to remain conscious.
Blood seeped from his side, and his pale complexion told Caspian all he needed to know.
If they didn’t end this quickly, Zareth wouldn’t make it.
“ROOOAARRR”
A guttural roar drew Caspian’s attention, and he turned just in time to see one of his lupivores torn in half by a massive claw.
The monster that did it snarled, its maw dripping with ichor as it turned its gaze on him.
“They’re getting stronger,” Caspian muttered under his breath.
The lupivores and goblins were doing everything they could, but the tide was turning.
The monsters began to coordinate their attacks, overwhelming the summons one by one.
“Grrrrrr”
A sharp howl tore through the air as the last lupivore fell, its body dissipating into shimmering fragments.
Caspian’s eyes widened, his chest tightening.
“Already?” he breathed, his voice laced with disbelief.
The goblins were next.
Though nimble, their crude weapons were no match for the monsters’ raw power.
They fell in droves, their small forms crushed or ripped apart until none remained.
Now, it was just him and Zareth.
Caspian gritted his teeth, adrenaline surging through his veins.
He tightened his grip on Bloodmoon, the weight of the enchanted blade grounding him.
“We’re not done yet,” he muttered, stepping in front of Zareth.
The largest monster, the one that had led the charge, growled deeply, its six legs digging into the earth as it prepared to lunge.
The smaller beasts surrounded it, their glowing eyes fixed on Caspian.
He raised Bloodmoon, its crimson edge gleaming ominously.
“Come on,” he said, his voice low and steady.
“Let’s finish this.”
The monsters didn’t hesitate.
They charged all at once, a wall of claws and fangs.
Caspian moved instinctively, his body a blur of motion as he slashed and dodged.
Bloodmoon cut through the first beast with ease, its magic searing the creature’s flesh as it fell.
But there were too many.
CRUNCH!
One monster’s claws scraped against his shoulder, tearing through his jacket and leaving a burning gash.
“Ugh,” Caspian grunted in pain but didn’t falter.
Another beast lunged at Zareth, who was too weak to defend himself.
“Zareth!” Caspian shouted, throwing himself between the monster and his fallen friend.
The creature’s claws raked his side, the force of the blow sending him stumbling.
Blood dripped down his ribs, staining his tunic, but he didn’t stop.
With a roar of defiance, Caspian drove Bloodmoon into the creature’s neck, silencing it for good.
But the distraction cost him.
A larger monster barreled into him, its massive frame colliding with his chest and throwing him back.
Caspian hit the ground hard, the air forced from his lungs as he rolled across the dirt.
His vision swam, and for a moment, he struggled to breathe.
“Ed…” Zareth’s weak voice reached him, pulling him back to reality.
Caspian pushed himself up, his body screaming in protest.
His fingers tightened around Bloodmoon as he rose to his feet, swaying slightly.
The remaining monsters circled him, their growls low and menacing.
The largest one, the six-legged beast, stepped forward.
Its crimson eyes locked onto him, and its lips curled into a snarl.
Caspian’s heart pounded as he realized the truth: he was out of time.
His summons were gone, and he hadn’t had a chance to evoke the power of the fallen monsters.
Bloodmoon pulsed faintly in his hand, its energy flickering as if sensing his desperation.
ROOOAARRR
The largest monster roared, its guttural cry shaking the air.
It charged at him, its massive claws aimed to finish him off.
Caspian steadied himself, his grip on Bloodmoon firm despite the blood dripping from his wounds.
“This isn’t over,” he whispered, his voice filled with determination.
The monster lunged, and Caspian moved to meet it head-on.
“CLANK”
The clearing was silent save for the sound of their clash, and the forest seemed to hold its breath as man and beast prepared for the final stand.
