Chapter 67: Rizzing up Elven Queen
“No, no, I’m fine,” Ed reassured her. Then he took an unsteady step forward. “See? Perfectly balanc—”
His foot slipped slightly on the damp stone.
Before he could fully embarrass himself, another voice entered the scene.
“Well, this is certainly unexpected.”
Ed turned his head and blinked.
Queen Aeloria El’Leather.
She stood at the entrance of the bath palace, watching the scene unfold with a bemused expression.
Dressed in a flowing silver and green gown, she radiated effortless elegance, her lavender eyes observing Ed with a mixture of curiosity and amusement.
Vynesaa immediately straightened. “Mother.”
Ed, still very much not in control of himself, stared at the queen for a long moment.
Then he let out a breath and said, “Wow.”
Aeloria raised an eyebrow. “Wow?”
“You’re so beautiful,” Ed said, his voice filled with genuine admiration. “Like, seriously. If someone told me elves were all this stunning, I would’ve been way more excited about coming here.”
Vynesaa turned to him sharply. “Are you—”
But Ed wasn’t done.
He squinted slightly, as if trying to focus his hazy thoughts, then pointed at Aeloria.
“You could literally convince entire armies to surrender just by standing there.” Ed said.
Aeloria let out a soft chuckle, tilting her head. “Oh? That’s quite the compliment.”
Ed nodded sagely. “No, no, I’m serious. If diplomacy doesn’t work, just walk into a battlefield and I promise people will just—” He made a vague sweeping gesture. “—kneel. Probably start composing poetry on the spot too.”
Vynesaa looked like she wanted to die from secondhand embarrassment.
Aeloria, on the other hand, was clearly entertained. “You’re quite bold, aren’t you?”
Ed scratched the back of his head, his towel shifting slightly. “I dunno. I think I’m just really, really relaxed right now.”
At that moment, another person entered the scene.
Zareth.
The moment his eyes landed on Ed—half-dressed, swaying slightly, and standing between his sister and his mother—he sighed deeply.
“Oh no.”
Ed turned to him, his eyes lighting up. “Zareth! Hey!”
Zareth massaged his temple. “I told you to wear the proper clothes before stepping into the bath.”
“I forgot,” Ed admitted with a lazy grin.

Zareth exhaled and walked forward, grabbing Ed by the shoulder. “Alright, that’s enough. You’re done for the night.”
Ed didn’t resist as Zareth turned him around, guiding him away. “Wait, wait, I wasn’t finished talking to your mom—”
“Nope.”
“Just a little more—”
“Not happening.”
As they disappeared into the hallway, Aeloria chuckled softly to herself.
She glanced at Vynesaa, whose expression was stuck between disbelief and pure frustration.
“…That human is insufferable,” Vynesaa muttered.
Aeloria simply smiled. “I think he’s quite interesting.”
Ed groaned as he slowly regained consciousness, his head pounding like a drum.
His body felt sluggish, like he had just run ten miles while carrying a boulder.
‘What the hell happened…?’
As his senses sharpened, he became aware of something warm beside him.
Slowly, cautiously, he turned his head—
Only to see Zareth, lying right next to him, bare-chested, his pink hair slightly messy from sleep.
Ed blinked.
Zareth exhaled slowly, shifting a little in his sleep.
Then Ed he looked down slowly and realised he was only wearing a towel.
Then he blinked again.
A terrible realization settled in.
He shot up, eyes wide.
“WHAT THE FUCK?!”
Zareth cracked open one eye, visibly irritated by the sudden shouting.
He yawned, stretched, then turned his gaze to Ed.
And then, with a straight face, he said—
“Damn, at least let a guy wake up first before screaming in regret.”
Ed froze. His stomach dropped.
His soul left his body.
“…What?”
Zareth lazily propped himself up on one elbow, giving Ed a too-casual look.
“I mean,” he continued, completely unfazed, “I didn’t expect you to be so… eager last night, but hey, I’m not one to judge.”
Ed’s brain stopped working.
His hands clenched the sheets in sheer horror. “Wha—NO! NO! That—That didn’t—”
Zareth sighed, shaking his head. “Tsk, tsk. You don’t even remember? I feel used, man.”
Ed felt his entire existence crumble.
Then—
A snort.
And a smirk.
Zareth finally grinned. “Relax. Nothing happened.”
Ed stared at him.
“…Huh?”
Zareth casually stretched again. “You passed out after overdosing on mana. I dragged you to your room. You kept talking nonsense, so I had to stay and make sure you didn’t die. That’s all.”
Ed was silent.
Then—
“…Then why the hell did you say all that just now?!”
Zareth shrugged. “Because your reaction was hilarious.”
Ed wanted to strangle him.
Instead, he groaned, burying his face in his hands. “I swear to god, I hate you.”
Zareth chuckled. “You’ll get over it.”
Ed exhaled, trying to push past the lingering embarrassment. But as he finally calmed down, a new thought hit him.
His eyes widened.
“Wait… what exactly did I say last night?”
Zareth smirked. “Oh, nothing too bad.”
Ed squinted. “Be specific.”
“Well,” Zareth said, tapping his chin, “you told Vynesaa she was ‘too adorable for her own good’—”
Ed froze.
“…No.”
Zareth grinned. “Then you looked at my mother and said, and I quote—’You are the most beautiful woman I’ve ever seen in my life. Can I just stare at you forever?'”
Ed wanted to jump out the window.
“…No. No, no, NO.”
“Oh, and then you passed out face-first in front of them,” Zareth added cheerfully. “It was truly majestic.”
Ed died inside.
What was he supposed to do?
Dig a 100-meter hole and disappear into it?
Fake his own death and start a new life?
Bribe a time mage to erase last night from existence?
???
His mind raced through increasingly ridiculous escape plans, but none of them could undo the irreversible humiliation he had inflicted upon himself.
He needed to fix this. Immediately.
“…I need to go find them,” Ed muttered, already scrambling to his feet. “I need to apologize. Beg for forgiveness. Maybe move to another continent—”
Zareth, still lounging comfortably, chuckled as he watched him spiral.
“Yeah, good luck with that.”
Ed groaned.
He had survived intense training, mana exhaustion, and even Zareth’s constant teasing—
But he wasn’t sure he’d survive this humiliation.
