The Epic Tale of Chaos vs Order - Chapter 1000
Chapter 1000: Plots and schemes Chapter 1000: Plots and schemes Cain took a deep breath, his eyes meeting each council member’s gaze.
“I seek knowledge about how to become a Legend, to awaken my True Name.” As soon as he made that request, Cain could see frowns and cold gazes appear in the eyes of the members of the High Council, and even Councilman Irion showed a displeased expression, making it clear that what Cain was asking was too much.
Before the councilmen could start barraging him with accusations of greed and not knowing his place, Cain spoke again.
“Of course, I do not expect to obtain that knowledge just from the information I grant.
I am part of the Trinity Kingdom and wish to protect it, but to be of use against an invasion, I need much more power than a Sky Lord.” There was a righteous expression on Cain’s face, his eyes full of fighting will as if he was ready to clash with any force that might endanger the Trinity Kingdom.
Several councilmen’s coldness and frowns diminished as they heard those words.
Giving the knowledge to reach the Legendary Realm posed all sorts of problems, the main one being that the High Council had little to no control over them.
After all, a Legend’s power was paramount, and the difference between them and a Sky Lord was immense, so why would they obey those men?
That was why they only passed the knowledge to people who had proved their loyalty over and over again.
In normal circumstances, they would have immediately declined Cain’s request, but if the information he granted them was true, an invasion could occur at any time, and they needed powerful warriors to survive.
Supportive murmurs rippled through the chamber, especially among the group led by Councilman Irion.
Those were people who reached their positions due to expertise and talent, and they understood that in times of crisis, rules must be bent, and great rewards should be displayed to draw the help of powerhouses.
However, not everyone was convinced, as a man with an air of arrogance and entitlement spoke up.
“You speak about the Trinity Kingdom with such grandeur, but you are just an outsider!” Immediately after that, the man turned to the rest of the councilman, his cold.
“In this moment of danger, we must consolidate our strength.
Sharing it would weaken our position.” Cain’s eyes narrowed as he focused on the councilman.
He was a young man, part of the same group as the middle-aged man who had antagonized him from the start, and his clothes and jewelry were impressive.
It was easy for Cain to recognize the man from the descriptions granted by Duke Rellin.
He was Oliver Halbinder, son of Archduke Halbinder, one of the strongest Legends of the Trinity Kingdom.
Oliver was useless, to say the least.
He rose to power through favors and connections rather than merit and constantly colluded with others to enhance his riches.
Someone like that would not have lasted, but he had a strong father who made everybody afraid of going after him and allowed his words to carry significant weight on the High Council, to the point that he could exert pressure on all others. ‘It has been a long time since someone tried to pressure me,’ A strange light crossed Cain’s eyes as he found himself in this situation.
The last couple of years in Aether, he stood at the apex, and no one would dare to defy him like that; not even the Depravita of Dark Sky dared to use words and instead relied on brute power.
However, Cain only smiled as his scheming mind was ready to handle these problems.
“It is important for any force to keep secure, and limiting knowledge about the higher realm is wise in times of peace as it would ensure the status quo remains and prevent unnecessary bloodshed.” The members of the High Council were surprised to hear Cain’s words, which seemed to align with Oliver’s, but those who were wiser saw that the young man had more to say.
“However, an invasion is looming over the Trinity Kingdom, and war doesn’t care about the status quo.
Keeping the customs of peace will raise sheep, and on the battlefield, you need lions.” Cain’s eyes were sharp and released a powerful intent as he stared at Oliver and his group, exerting pressure that kept them quiet as he carried on.
“I am a Level 20 Sky Lord and granted important knowledge to the kingdom about a calamity arising.
I am willing to fight against this invading power by your side.
If that is not enough for you to share the knowledge to rise to the Legend, why would I risk my life for this place?” This time, Cain turned toward Councilman Irion and his group, making it clear that he would just leave if they did not offer him something of value.

“How dare you utter such treacherous words.
You are a coward without honor.
I should throw you in a dungeon!” Oliver shouted with rage and hatred, his eyes wandering around, trying to incite more to rally with him, but even those of his group could not help but shake their heads.
Oliver was confused for a moment.
The charge of cowardice was easy to rally around, so he did not understand why people remained silent.
“You declared me an outsider less than a minute ago, making clear I have no connection to the kingdom?
What duty do I have to this place that must demand I fight for it?” Cain spoke in a calm voice, looking at the man as if he was a clown.
Oliver’s face reddened as he saw how his own words were used against him, the rage and hatred in his heart only growing stronger.
“Enough.
We must come to a decision.” Just as Oliver was ready to continue barking like a rabid dog, the imposing voice of Councilman Irion echoed across the room.
The old man’s eyes unleashed a sharpness that made even those in Oliver’s group lower their heads. The old man turned toward Cain, glancing at the young man for a few seconds before speaking calmly, “We must deliberate on your request and verify the validity of the information you gave us.
In the meantime, I welcome you and Duke Rellin into my home so you can rest.” Those words made Oliver and his group focus on Irion with sharp glances, as it clearly meant the old man was on the side of Cain and openly clashed against them.
However, even if they were enraged, they were smart enough to know that trying to attack the old councilman would be a great mistake.
Cain smiled toward the old man and clasped his hands before performing a small bow.
“I appreciate your kindness and will calmly wait for your decision.” “Captain Asidius, my old and trusted friend, will escort you to my home,” Councilman Irion spoke calmly, but a meaningful light appeared in his eyes as he focused on Cain, hinting at the secret message in those words.
Cain stared at the old man for a moment and softly nodded his head before he and Duke Rellin left the High Council chamber along with the middle-aged guard with the massive shield.
The moment the trio left the chamber, the gates immediately closed, but their perception was high enough to perceive how an intense discussion immediately arose.
None of them said a word until they left the massive castle and rose to the sky, heading to a large residence not far away.
“Will we be fine?” Duke Rellin could not help but ask Cain as they flew toward Councilman Irion’s residence.
The man’s face was pale as the sudden twists and turns had been more than he could handle.
Cain showed a calm smile.
“Don’t worry.
I believe things will go according to our plans.
In the worst-case scenario, they will go after me, so you should be fine.” Captain Asidius heard the duo’s conversation but remained silent, guiding them to the residence.
“You can choose any room for yourself.
The place is large but mostly empty as Councilman Irion’s family does not reside in the capital.” Cain’s eyes narrowed as he heard those words and understood the silent warning.
Clearly, the capital was not the most secure place, as even someone with a status and position like Councilman Irion did not let his loved ones stay there.
“I appreciate your work.
I hope we see each other again soon.” Cain smiled as he stretched his right hand.
Asidius went on and shook the young man’s hand when suddenly a sharp light appeared in his eyes.
He stared at Cain for a moment before nodding and rising to the sky, flying away.
Duke Rellin saw the strange exchange between Cain and the captain, but he was too tired to think about it.
He simply nodded to the young man before heading into a room to rest.
Cain felt a little bad about the old man, as he was clearly not used to these plots and schemes, but for him, they were simple.
‘Will they send someone to kill me today, or would they wait a few more days?’
