Chapter 1001: The key to rising to the Legendary Realm?
‘Will they send someone to kill me today, or will they wait a few more days?’ As that thought crossed his mind, Cain couldn’t help but smile, feeling pure relaxation even in this situation. There was danger in all directions and plots in the darkness aimed at his head and the Trinity Kingdom.
Yet he was at ease since he no longer had to worry about anyone else but himself for the first time in a very long time.
He no longer had to stress about the moves and schemes of trillions of people and how every decision he made or action he took could shape the world around him.
Cain’s words were true, and he would fight for the Trinity Kingdom if they gave him the knowledge to reach the Legendary Realm, but there were several caveats around that promise.
He would definitely not fight if the battle was lost, nor would he risk his life for these people.
Although his sense of empathy had evolved and grown stronger lately, the Power of Order was still in his soul.
In Aether, it was weakened because that was his home, and they were his people who loved and worshiped him to the point of devotion.
He would do anything to protect them and kill anyone that dared to threaten them.
However, the Crimson World was different.
Cain did not intend to develop deep relationships with the powers here or its people, and his goal was just to grow stronger.
The only one who could genuinely touch his heart was Beelze, and the rest could be temporal allies or foes, but that was it.
Cain’s aloofness might sound harsh, but he needed to be practical.
Aether would reach the Nine Empyrean Suns Universe in a few years, and he needed to be ready for that time.
He would use the Crimson World as a training ground, finding a way to harness the power of this universe into his original body.
No longer wasting time, Cain headed into Councilman Irion’s residence and occupied an empty room.
His eyes were cold as he began to walk across the room, his hands making all sorts of signs as his energy flooded from his fingers into the ground. After that small ritual, Cain went to the bed and raised his hand, looking at his body with a profound gaze. ‘I don’t think the power of this body or its energy will leave this place with me once my ego returns to my original body, but the True Name appears to be something that goes beyond the physical realm and can reach the soul.’ It was that analysis that compelled Cain so much to rise to the Legendary Realm.
If the power of the True Name managed to stay with him back in Aether, it would be one more weapon he could use during his journey across the Nine Empyrean Suns Universe.
As those thoughts crossed Cain’s mind, his eyes slowly closed.
This was not a ruse, as he was exhausted.
Unlike in Aether, where his soul and mind grew immensely potent along with his cultivation, practically erasing the need to sleep after reaching the Apotheosis Realm, his body needed rest more often in the Crimson World.
Guards surrounded Councilman Irion’s home at all times, the leader of whom was a Sky Master, yet none of them could perceive a shadow moving at a shocking speed.
The shadow didn’t take long to reach deep into the residence, stopping for a second as it seemed to focus on the room where Duke Rellin rested, but soon resumed its march, reaching Cain’s quarters.
The shadow went beneath the ground, appearing inside the room, and the next second, a figure began to emerge from it.
The one who managed to sneak inside Councilman Irion’s residence was a thin man covered in dark leather armor with an aura that seemed to fuse with the night. The man’s face resembled a hybrid between a human and a snake, with his vertical pupils focusing on Cain.
Even as he raised a dagger, he released not even the slightest sign of killing intent.
Power coursed through the man’s body as he channeled a massive portion of his energy pool into his dagger before it flashed down, aiming straight toward Cain’s heart.
Just as a smile appeared on the assassin’s face, sure he would end the life of the young genius, a shocking scene unfolded.
A sky-blue shield emerged from Cain’s body at the last second, reacting to the dagger and stopping its descent. The assassin’s eyes widened in shock as he saw Cain’s Innate Ability, a force field so powerful that it managed to stop his dagger for a moment.

“CRACK!” However, the power behind the attack was immense, so the dagger soon shattered the sky-blue shield and carried on, but before it could reach Cain, the young man opened his eyes and grabbed the assassin’s wrist.
Cain’s eyes were cold and full of killing intent as the power of the Eye of Gluttony burst, channeling all of it through his right hand as lightning energy surged from his left hand and reached the ground.
The assassin was surprised by the physical strength behind the grip, and things only grew worse as a devouring force emerged the next instant, forcefully draining his body’s energy and strength!
‘I need to escape!’ The assassin’s instincts screamed danger, and he knew he needed to run.
A massive amount of energy burst from his body as he no longer concealed his presence.
Cain’s eyes widened as he felt the sudden burst in strength from the man.
His energy pool was of a higher realm, and he focused on strength, so his physical force should be superior, and the assassin should not be able to free himself from his grip. Yet, Cain felt that with the sudden burst of energy from the assassin, the man would break free at any second.
Luckily, before that happened, the energy he sent into the ground came into effect, making arcs of lightning emerge from the floor and soon concentrating on the assassin.
The assassin was about to free himself from Cain’s grip, but the burst of lightning paralyzed his body, and things only worsened as the next second, a horrible pain assaulted his body! Shock and terror appeared in the assassin’s eyes as he saw the young man he had come to kill buried a burning sword into his chest, avoiding the vital organs but severing his spine!
The assassin lost all control over his body, and he did not fall to the ground only because Cain’s grip on his wrist remained, continuing to devour the energy from his body until the man was so weak that he fell unconscious.
Cain’s eyes were cold as he removed his sword, the flames cauterizing the wounds.
He glanced at the assassin for a moment before throwing the man under the bed and flashing to the entrance of his room.
He opened the door and immediately saw a middle-aged man with dark hair in golden armor who seemed ready to barge in.
“Is there a problem?” The Sky Master Royal Guard assigned to Councilman Irion’s residence was confused.
He felt a sudden burst of energy coming from the room and flashed as fast as he could, thinking a fight had arisen.
“Is everything all right?
I detected a strange aura a moment ago.” The Royal Guard could not help but ask, trying to glimpse the room, but Cain’s figure obstructed the view.
“Oh, that.
I am sorry, but I had a nightmare.
There is nothing to worry about.” Cain showed a calm smile to the man.
The Royal Guard frowned as he heard that explanation, as he was sure the new aura was different from that of the young man.
However, there was little the Sky Master could do, even if he was suspicious.
The young man was a Sky Lord and also a special guest of Councilman Irion.
“If everything is alright, I will leave.” In the end, the Royal Guard nodded toward Cain and flew back to his position in the sky.
Once the Royal Guard left, Cain’s smile vanished, replaced by coldness as he closed the door and took the assassin’s body from under the bed.
The man was alive but severely wounded, and unless he received medical treatment, he would not last more than a few days.
Cain had no access to healing spells or abilities, but that did not matter as he never planned to spare the assassin’s life.
The only reason he did not kill the man right away was that he wanted to prepare himself and do it in the way he would obtain the most benefits.
The Eye of Gluttony began to analyze the man’s body and energy, and a meaningful light appeared in Cain’s eyes as he felt the strength in the energy pool.
‘This man is a Sky Lord, but his energy pool is different from mine, more compact.
Is that the key to rising to the Legendary Realm?’
