Chapter 1010: Bravos’ evolution (II) Chapter 1010: Bravos’ evolution (II) Guarding the main entrance to the city were newly erected statues of mythical beasts similar to the Bravos Centipede, carved with exquisite detail and enchanted with powerful runes.

These mighty stone golems, griffons with wings outspread, and serpentine dragons, lay dormant but vigilant, their eyes glinting with an eerie, magical light, a sight that filled the onlookers with awe.

Cain turned his attention to the statues, and the Eye of Gluttony revealed their true nature, making him raise his guard.

Each statue carried a power capable of taking him down.

These statues were not for show, as powerful energy flooded their bodies, ready to come to life and unleash Legendary power at any moment.

Within the city, the streets had been widened to allow for rapid troop movements and the transportation of supplies.

Barricades and checkpoints were strategically placed, manned by soldiers in gleaming armor.

The markets and residential areas had been emptied and were not used for the sole purpose of the military.  Once a commercial activity hub, the harbor had been transformed into a naval stronghold of epic proportions.

Warships lined the docks, bristling with weapons and reinforced with enchanted hulls.

Massive sea walls extended into the water, forming a protective barrier around the fleet.

These walls were embedded with runic symbols capable of creating magical barriers to repel enemy ships and underwater threats.

Although the strongest warriors of the invading force would be able to fly, the bulk of the enemy army would arrive by ship.

Thus, the first stage of the fight would be fought on the waters.

If all the foot soldiers were to fall, even if the Legends on the enemy side prevailed, they would find it impossible to establish a foothold and would be forced to abandon the island, highlighting the crucial importance of the naval fortifications.

‘If they win in the water, there is no need to fight on the land.’ A meaningful light appears in Cain’s eyes, and he continues glancing at the ships.  Cain’s Eye of Gluttony could see the magic formations on all those ships and knew their destructive power was immense.

They might lack precision, but they could unleash attacks capable of leveling entire cities and killing millions.

After that impressive navy, his eyes finally focused on the grandest and strongest of the fortifications.

The centerpiece of Bravos’ defenses was the Grand Citadel, a fortress within a fortress.

Situated at the city’s heart, it rose like a dark monolith, its walls and towers bristling with weaponry.

The Citadel was the command center, housing the high command.

Its spires reached skyward; each tipped with a glowing crystal that served as conduits for immense magical energy, ready to be channeled into devastating spells.

As Cain focused the Eye of Gluttony on the Grand Citadel, he felt nearly thirty powerful and shockingly pure auras inside and was sure they all belonged to Legends.

Around the Citadel, an array of lesser fortresses and barracks formed a network of interlocking defenses.

These were filled with warriors and mages, all trained to respond instantly to any breach.

The streets around the Citadel were lined with smaller statues of legendary monsters.

The atmosphere in Bravos was charged with a mixture of apprehension and resolve.

All the citizens had been evacuated since this was no longer a place for them.

Even if they won, there might only be ashes left when the battle ended.

Soldiers drilled relentlessly, their faces set in grim determination.

Mages harmonized with the world’s energy and practiced powerful spells, preparing for the inevitable confrontation.

Bravos was no longer just a port city; it had become a fortress of unimaginable strength, ready to withstand the storm that was sure to come.

Cain could not help but adopt a solemn expression.

When it came to military units and the power of the people, the Trinity Kingdom was average at best, and any of the six empires of Aether could easily surpass them even before their evolution during the war with Dark Sky.

However, the fortifications and structures in this place were simply formidable, standing far beyond the constructs that could arise in Aether.

Cain had to admit that even if his true body were to come to this place, he could win and defeat the city, but not without making tremendous sacrifices.

He might even be forced to run away.

The fortifications were impossible to hide, and the invading army would definitely see them, but it did not matter.

Navigating the Sea of Wonders was hard for Legends due to the monsters and phenomena that flooded the area.

A ship full of soldiers incapable of flying could not simply deviate from their course, as the catastrophes in their path would definitely sink them.

The invading force would either be forced to clash with Bravos or return to their home.

There was no other choice.

‘If the technology of the Trinity Island is so high, I can’t even imagine the level of advancement I could find on the South Coast,’ Cain thought, a burning desire to learn more and devour it all, making his power rise.

Those thoughts did not last long.

The moment Cain reached the periphery of the new City of Bravos, his instincts screamed danger, and he felt dozens of powerful energies targeting him.

Luckily, the feeling vanished when Captain Asidius took out a medallion that marked their identity.

“Lord Cain, please follow me to the Grand Citadel.

The Lord Commander is waiting for us,” Captain Asidius spoke respectfully to Cain before turning his eyes toward Duke Rellin.

“Duke, go to the mage barracks.

While you will be Lord Cain’s Magic Guard, you must still get familiar with the spell formations we will put in place.” Cain and Rellin nodded to the captain of the Royal Guard, the duo acknowledging each other before splitting up.

Asidius and Cain soon reached the Grand Citadel and went through the main gate.

Many influential people were on their path, but the captain did not stand to greet them, as they had to attend to urgent matters.
