The Epic Tale of Chaos vs Order - Chapter 1020
Chapter 1020: Defeating the Lich Chapter 1020: Defeating the Lich Cain’s dive into the mountain’s ground utilized all his strength, gripping Sky Breaker so tightly that his hand nearly bled.
Silence echoed next as nothing seemed to happen, but it did not last long since, in the next second, a massive explosion took place.
“BOOOOOOOOOMMMMMMMM!” The massive explosion sent shockwaves rippling through the terrain inside the mountain range, blasting everything and leaving a gigantic hole.
From the core of the explosion, the figure of the Lich emerged, a new, massive, and deep cut appearing on his right shoulder.
The Lich’s body hurtled through the sky, and his eyes widened in agony as the destructive power of Ripper Touch amplified the wound, causing it to grow so massive that his entire right arm fell off!
“YOU BASTARD!” The Lich roared in agony.
Although he did not have vital points, that did not mean his body was useless.
It had been tempered for hundreds of years to endure significant damage and was a perfect reservoir of necrotic energy, so losing an arm would have a powerful impact on his future cultivation.
Cain saw the arm of the Lich falling to the ground, but he was not unscathed.
During that last clash, the Legend managed to leave a large wound in his stomach, blood seeping from the injury, and the flesh around it was rotting.
However, even with that severe and crippling wound, a bloody smile appeared on Cain’s face, and the pain did not weaken his killing intent in the slightest.
He drove toward the sky, fiercely launching himself at the Lich.
The Legendary Lich had just regained control over his body when he saw Sky Breaker swing down with lethal precision, the weight of the bastard sword augmented by Weight Manipulation.
“Die!” Cain roared, his voice echoing through the mountains as he unleashed the full power of his bastard sword.
The Lich, maddened by pain and fury, raised his left hand and forcefully drew his energy through it.
Dark bolts of necrotic energy crackled through the air and blasted forward.
Cain was surprised that the Legendary Lich could conjure such powerful spells so fast with an energy pool that was clearly enduring severe disarray.
He acted quickly, summoning his Energy Barrier and using Shadow Forge to form shields, protecting himself from the bolts, but he was still hurled away.
The Innate Abilities protected Cain from a deadly blow but new searing wounds on his body.
Yet, he immediately regained control over his body and pressed on, using Air Speed to close the distance.
Pure hatred appeared in the Legendary Lich’s eyes as he saw how Cain still carried on, and he sent a new and even more powerful barrage of necrotic bolts forward.
Dark, putrid blood leaked from every orifice on his face, but he did not give up and continued channeling his energy.
Cain dodged the worst of the attacks and used Shadow Forge to conjure shields and whips of shadow that intercepted the Lich’s onslaught before finally closing the distance.
“You think you can defeat me?” the Lich hissed, his voice dripping with venomous disdain as he conjured a massive shield of necrotic energy in front of him before shouting with all his strength, “I am Legend!” Cain’s eyes blazed with determination and killing intent, showing a bloody smile that seemed to carry a sense of frenzy in it.
“You will still die!” With a surge of strength, Cain swung Sky Breaker in a wide arc, the blade cleaving through the Lich’s necrotic shield and reaching the body, leaving a massive wound in the center of the chest that reached all the way to the internal organs.
The Lich’s eyes widened in dread and shock as he saw that massive wound.
Just as Ripper Touch was going to effect, a furious light appeared in the Lich, and the necrotic power of his entire body came into override before exploding, unleashing the might of a full-fledged Legendary Spell!
Cain’s eyes widened as he saw that explosion, and his Energy Barrier rapidly came into play as dozens of Shadow Shields emerged before the necrotic blast reached him.
His defenses lasted less than a second, but they still managed to take him out of the core of the explosion.
The power of the necrotic blast made Cain’s skin blister, and his muscles screamed in protest, but he knew that he could not break his focus.

His eyes wandered around the battlefield, searching for the Legendary Lich.
Although the enemy seemed to have self-destructed, Cain could still feel his instincts screaming danger, so he did not dare to lower his guard.
Immediately, his eyes narrowed as he gazed at a dark humanoid fog that had attempted to sneak upon him.
As Cain focused on it, he saw it was actually a wraith-like entity with the same eyes as the Legendary Lich’s.
‘He can survive without a body!’ Cain did not show anything on his face other than killing intent, but deep down, he was genuinely amazed.
In Aether, if your body was lost, that marked your end, as it was impossible to live without it.
Yet through the use of his True Soul, the Legendary Lich was able to endure such a state.
The Legendary Lich’s eyes narrowed as he saw how Cain detected his presence.
Poisonous killing intent and rage emerged from the bottom of his soul, but seeing that there was no longer a chance for a sneak attack, he flew away, becoming a shadow as he vanished into the distance.
Cain did not dare to chase after the Legendary Lich.
His body was on the brink of collapsing, and if he were to face some sort of trap or a powerful enemy, he might very well die. Carefully, Cain descended to one of the mountains, not blasted to smithereens, and sat as even moving proved extremely harsh right now.
He was about to take his communication artifact when he noticed a figure in the distance and simply rested, trying to stabilize his wounds.
