The Epic Tale of Chaos vs Order - Chapter 1044
Chapter 1044: Soul Combustion!
Chapter 1044: Soul Combustion!
“BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOMMMMMMMMMMMM!” The massive explosion sent shockwaves in all directions, and everyone nearby was blown away.
Luckily for the Trinity Kingdom, the soldiers had already retreated from the walls upon hearing the order of Lord Commander Sarukan.
Still, hundreds of thousands of foot soldiers from the Lynch Kingdom were caught in the explosion, sealing their fate in a devastating instant.
The blast tore through the battlefield, reducing the fortifications and anything near them to rubble.
The ground quaked under the force, creating deep craters and sending debris flying like deadly shrapnel.
The screams of the Lynch Kingdom soldiers were drowned out by the deafening roar of the explosion, their bodies obliterated in the inferno.
“YOU BASTARD!” Grand Lich Morkon shouted in rage and anger as he attacked with pure and unrestrained ferocity.
He didn’t really care about those foot soldiers who couldn’t even rise to the sky, but they were his main occupation force.
With the deaths triggered by that blast, over 75% of all the foot soldiers who left Lynch Island were now dead.
With so few foot soldiers left, even if the Lynch Kingdom were to win the war, it would become a nightmare to take control over the entire Trinity Island.
Lord Commander Sarukan only smiled as he saw the rage on Grand Lich Morkon’s face.
Exploding those fortifications had consumed nearly 10% of the total resources of the Trinity Kingdom.
Even if they won, they would not get it back.
But Sarukan felt it was more than worth it upon seeing the rage in Morkon’s face. He calmly retreated alongside Archduke Halbinder, covering the retreat of the rest of the Legends until they were finally in the central area of Bravos.
At that point, the energy coming from the Grand Citadel enhanced their bodies while the holy aura in it weakened the power of necrotic spells.
Grand Lich Morkon did not dare to dash forward into the field of power from the Grand Citadel.
He had consumed a lot of his energy during the fight, and his forces would suffer catastrophic losses if they continued.
He needed time to regroup and plan their next move.
After one final hateful gaze toward Lord Commander Sarukan, he waved his hand and brought his forces back to the Flesh Tower, where they could heal and prepare for the next move.
Lord Commander Sarukan watched as the Legends of the Lynch Kingdom vanished inside the Flesh Tower, his eyes filled with killing intent.
He then led his forces to heal.
As he approached the Grand Citadel, the leader of the Trinity Kingdom’s forces couldn’t help but turn his gaze to the residence of a Sky Lord.
That was, of course, Cain’s residence, where the young man had vanished along with the body of the mummified spellcaster.
Any prisoner as powerful as a Legend should have been handed over to Lord Commander Sarukan, and if it was anyone else, he would have demanded it.
However, Lord Commander Sarukan chose to ignore it.
First of all, Cain saved one of his Legends when taking down the mummified spellcaster, so he had earned the right to keep the prisoner.
Second, it was clear that no one truly knew the moves and strategies of the Lynch Kingdom other than Grand Lich Morkon, so interrogating Legends would most likely be useless.
As Lord Commander Sarukan and the Legends vanished inside the Grand Citadel, Cain was already in the process of consuming the mummified Legend.

It was extremely hard and taxing to keep a Legend paralyzed, especially since it would not be hard for them to make their bodies explode and escape with their souls.
Cain pushed himself to the limit as gray flames covered the Legend’s body and soon extended to the soul.
Once more, he found himself clashing against overwhelming mental defenses, but now that his Spirit Force was fully crystallized, he was able to break through them after a few minutes.
Very slowly and carefully, Cain began to consume the soul and body of the mummified spellcaster.
He made sure the process was in complete control, as he did not want to make any mistakes or hasty moves that could hinder the absorption of the Legendary Innate Ability.
The gray flames full of vitality and force that surrounded his energy pool grew more and more massive, but what truly drew a wide smile on Cain’s face was the sight of a stream of sky-blue golden force that reached his Spirit Force and fused with it.
A sense of dizziness assaulted Cain for a few seconds, but he quickly recovered.
Not losing focus, he continued consuming the life force and soul of the mummified corpse until finally, there was nothing more to devour.
The corpse of the Legend shattered into a pile of ashes and dry bones the next second.
Only his necrotic energy and soul force kept his mummified body standing.
Cain showed little concern about the fate of the Legend and simply kept the space ring before erasing everything else with his flames.
After that, he adopted a meditative position on the ground and used the stolen vitality and energy to heal his body.
During the coastal battle, he had killed more than fifteen Sky Lords, all of whom had crystallized their energy pools, but it did not come easily.
He endured a lot of injuries during those fights, so he needed to recover as soon as possible as there was no way to tell when the next clash would begin.
Thanks to the massive amount of vitality and energy held inside the gray flames, it only took Cain one day to fully heal and recover his power to its peak.
Only then did Cain focus on his Spirit Force and search for the new Legendary Innate Ability.
“Soul Combustion!” It did not take long for him to learn it, and Cain was honestly impressed by the power.
It would allow him to improve the destructive power of a spell by fifty percent, but he needed to consume soul force as fuel.
