The Epic Tale of Chaos vs Order - Chapter 1049
Chapter 1049: A traitor!
Chapter 1049: A traitor!
“Fast, before the Grand Citadel’s Holy Radiance fully vanishes!” The Legends, Sky Lords, Sky Masters, and foot soldiers heard the words from Lord Commander Sarukan and without hesitation, they began to retreat.
Everyone understood that if they waited too long and the Flesh Tower’s necrotic force field reached them, the forces of the Lynch Kingdom would massacre them.
It was not the first defeat and retreat, so the forces of the Trinity Kingdom were able to pull back carefully and in an orderly manner, making sure to keep their guard and defenses and avoid massive casualties as they pulled back.
Lord Commander Sarukan and Archduke Halbinder were using everything they had to keep Grand Lich Morkon at bay.
Luckily, it seemed that unleashing such a powerful spell as Death Burst had taken a toll on the Stellar Abyss Legend, so they were able to keep control over the fight and not be overpowered.
Lord Commander Sarukan’s eyes were sharp as he saw how the forces of the Trinity Kingdom were pulling back further and further away from the Grand Citadel.
His eyes were full of hatred and unwillingness as he understood that losing this battle would mean that the flames of war would spread across the entire Trinity Island, and the civilian casualties would be incalculable.
Unfortunately, there was nothing the man could do to stop it, as the forces of the Lynch Kingdom were simply too massive and powerful.
After making sure that the forces of the Trinity Kingdom had retreated far enough, a light full of brutality and rage appeared in the eyes of Lord Commander Sarukan as he focused on the Grand Citadel.
He then raised his right hand and a golden rune appeared on it.
“Rule over ashes!” Lord Commander Sarukan stared at Grand Lich Morkon with pure hatred and coldness as he activated the golden rune.
The Grand Citadel was one of the most powerful treasures that the Three Saintesses had left in the Trinity Kingdom, functioning as the core of their forces when they first arrived on the island.
Destroying it could be considered a great sacrilege, but there was no way Lord Commander Sarukan would leave it for the forces of the Lynch Kingdom, and he was sure the blast would kill many of them!
The entire Grand Citadel began to glow as golden lines stretched over its massive structure, and the energy inside began to rise higher and higher.
Yet, just as it seemed it would burst into a fiery blast of destruction, the energy froze and suddenly ceased, shutting down.
“WHAT!” Lord Commander Sarukan could not help but shout in shock as he saw the Grand Citadel’s self-destruction fail.
His eyes instantly turned toward Grand Lich Morkon, who looked back at him with a cold and nasty smile.
‘A traitor!’ That thought appeared in Lord Commander Sarukan’s mind, as he knew that was the only possible explanation.
Unlike the fortifications built around Bravos’s shore that were constructed recently and supervised by him, the Grand Citadel had been held in the Trinity Saint Realm before the war started.
It would not have been very hard for someone with high enough authority to tamper with it.
Of course, Lord Commander Sarukan would have immediately realized if they did something as blatant as handing over control to someone else, but they were wise and just deactivated the self-destruction mechanism.
The hatred and rage in Lord Commander Sarukan’s heart reached an unprecedented level.
It was one thing to be attacked by an enemy from a foreign land, but to be betrayed by your people was something that disgusted him to the core.
Unfortunately for Lord Commander Sarukan, he did not have time for rage as the failure of the Grand Citadel’s self-destruction greatly harmed the magic matrix of the structure, immediately shutting down the waning Holy Radiance.
Without the Holy Radiance, nothing stopped the Flesh Tower’s necrotic force field, which expanded at a shocking speed, immediately reaching Lord Commander Sarukan, who was the closest.
A pale expression appeared on the leader of the forces of the Trinity Kingdom as the power of the necrotic energy suppressed his strength and vitality immensely.
Things only grew worse for Lord Commander Sarukan as Grand Lich Morkon took advantage of his moment of weakness and unleashed a massive darkness maelstrom that seemed to engulf the sky and fall upon the man.
Lord Commander Sarukan barely had time to raise his shield before the darkness maelstrom descended upon him with such overwhelming power that it triggered a massive earthquake.

Silence echoed across the battlefield as the forces of the Trinity Kingdom not only saw the malfunction of the Grand Citadel that allowed the necrotic force field to crash upon them, but now their strongest Legend and leader, Lord Commander Sarukan, was blasted into the ground, and no one knew if the man was alive or dead.
“Hahahahahaha.” An eerie and cold laughter that seemed to come from the depths of the abyss broke the silence, and everyone turned toward Grand Lich Morkon, who showed pure bliss and delight upon seeing the horror and terror in the faces of the forces of the Trinity Kingdom.
“Sarukan is dead, and now you will face the same fate!
Warriors of the Lynch Kingdom, show no mercy, kill them all, and use their bodies to show Trinity Island who their new master is!” Grand Lich Morkon shouted those words as he rallied his forces, filling the Legends of the Lynch Kingdom with killing intent.
The same thirst for blood arose in his heart as he focused on Archduke Halbinder.
That ice Legendary Mage was the strongest Legend left, so it made sense that he would be Grand Lich Morkon’s next target.
Yet, just as he was ready to start his attack and kill the man, Grand Lich Morkon’s eyes turned toward the Trinity Kingdom’s Sky Lords and pure killing intent emerged from his soul as he focused on the one who had dared to humiliate his forces.
