With your eyes lurking under the shadows of the South Coast, no matter how well they hide, I will find them and consume them.

” Lord Zero’s eyes widened, a sense of jubilation rising in his heart as he thought he might have found the light at the end of the tunnel.

But before that feeling could take root, the scarlet dragon spoke again.

“However, there is a problem.

I do not trust you.” Lord Zero’s mind raced as he heard those words, desperately searching for a counter.

When faced with death or servitude, he would easily choose the latter.

But after leaving this place, what would stop him from turning to the South Coast Alliance’s powerhouses, sharing all the information, and regaining his freedom?

While Lord Zero had no love for the South Coast Alliance, since he knew all those people at the top only kept away from his business because they could use him, it would be a lie if he said he was happy losing his freedom and serving the scarlet dragon.  He thought intensely and locked eyes with Cain before speaking.

“You possess a myriad of skills; surely one of those could help you ensure I keep my end of the deal.” Cain’s expression turned pensive, and he shook his head.

“I have abilities that could force you to act as I say, but powerhouses at the Void Eclipse Rank could break them and grant you your freedom.

I have nothing that guarantees you’ll keep your word once we leave this dimension, and I see no reason to take that risk.” Lord Zero fell silent for a moment, eventually sighing and nodding, his calm demeanor returning.

He had no more words to offer.

Cain looked at him for a while longer before asking, “You have nothing else to say?” The old man shook his head.

“I am out of moves.

I can’t ensure trust between us, or that I will keep my word, and since that’s clearly a deal-breaker for you, I lose.” Cain observed Lord Zero closely, noting how he remained calm even with death looming.

It became clear that his earlier serenity wasn’t bravado but a true peace of mind, a state many who lived for thousands of years might never achieve.

“There may be a way to make this deal happen,” Cain said, his eyes sharp and solemn.

“I might have a method to ensure the agreement and let you leave this dimension, becoming my spy.

But I’ve never done it before, and it could kill you horribly.” Lord Zero didn’t hesitate, and he immediately agreed.

“I will die if you don’t try it, so what do I have to lose?

Let’s do it!” Cain smiled faintly and nodded.

“Lower your soul defenses, and don’t resist in any way.” Those words carried an icy weight, and Lord Zero understood the warning.

Any resistance would mean immediate death.

Without hesitation, the old man sat in a meditative position and closed his eyes, shutting down his mental and spiritual defenses completely.
