The Epic Tale of Chaos vs Order - Chapter 1228
Chapter 1228: The reason for the war Chapter 1228: The reason for the war As Cain continued to grow in size and power, broad smiles spread across the faces of the Ancient Dragons.
Every centimeter of his expansion brought them more confidence, knowing their leader’s strength would significantly increase their chances of survival in the perilous journey through the Demon King’s Castle.
Cain’s presence was a beacon.
The stronger he became, the greater their hope of overcoming the dangers ahead.
The Ancient Dragons marched forward, confidence and bravery surging through their bodies.
Each clash with the Replicas became easier, no longer posing a real threat, as the scarlet dragon led them in, overwhelming their enemies with ease.
However, not everyone was faring as well.
Far from the Ancient Dragons, the forces of the Sun Church were struggling.
The angels gasped for air, their bodies riddled with wounds as they barely managed to defeat yet another wave of Replicas.
It had become painfully clear that their lack of preparation and enhancements over the last two years had caught up with them.
Their stamina and vitality couldn’t keep up with the demands of the second level of the Demon King’s Castle.
Many of the angels’ eyes turned toward the lone figure hovering high above them, glowing with golden light.
Helios, bathed in white flames, stood untouched by the fatigue that plagued the others.
His strength and vitality were unshaken, a stark contrast to the group beneath him, who bore the brunt of their suffering in silence.
The reason for this difference was more than talent or power.
The angels were all too aware that during their exploration of the Primeval World, before reaching the Demon King’s Castle, Helios had taken the most precious resources for himself, leaving them with mere scraps.
Though resentment and bitterness could have easily formed in their hearts for the way he showed no empathy or concern for them, they didn’t hate him.
They couldn’t. The angels were bound to the young archangel in a way so profound that nothing could change the deep sense of awe, love, and reverence they felt as they gazed upon him.
Helios, for his part, cared little for the suffering of his comrades.
A smile played on his lips as his aura flared, growing stronger with each passing moment.
He inhaled the corrupting essence that filled the air, no longer bothering to hide his true abilities.
With no one watching, he absorbed the corrosive energy of the Demon King’s Castle, sending it deep into his soul.
The Depravita Essence reached Helios’ soul, but instead of corrupting it, it was ingested, acting as fuel and making him even stronger.
Minutes passed before Helios finally opened his eyes and clenched his fists, power coursing through him like a flood.
His gaze pierced forward.
“Let’s go,” he commanded, his voice cold and indifferent.
Complicated expressions flickered across the faces of the angels as they were still exhausted and heavily injured.
One angel, Overion, stepped forward, his voice trembling with a mix of fear and reverence.
“My Lord, if we continue without treating our wounds, the Replicas may start claiming lives,” Overion warned, bowing his head low as he spoke.
Helios turned his gaze toward Overion, and the mere sight of it made the Five-Winged Angel tremble.

His head dipped even lower, as did the heads of the other angels who feared his wrath.
Disdain twisted Helios’ face as he spoke, his tone filled with pure disappointment.
“Hmph, whose fault is that I must push myself so hard in this trial?
I ordered you to end the Tiamat Dragon Sect, yet you failed, allowing those dragons to enter the Demon King’s Castle.
You’re all lucky I don’t kill you right now!” If the members of the Tiamat Sect had heard those words, they would have been beyond shocked.
The war that had erupted from the Sun Church’s sneak attack had all been due to their desire to secure the Demon King’s Castle.
Helios’ words left a bitter taste in the air, but none of the angels dared to challenge him.
They all lowered their heads, fear evident in their eyes, their expressions like traumatized children, terrified of awakening the anger of an abusive father.
“My Lord, you are absolute, a being of the higher plane.
I am sure no one can claim the power of the Demon King other than you.
Why worry about the dragons?” Overion’s words weren’t empty flattery.
His gaze showed that he believed every word, as did the other angels.
They all looked at Helios with the same unwavering belief as though he were an invincible force destined to succeed.
Once, seeing those adoring eyes had brought Helios immense pleasure.
But after hundreds of thousands of years, it had grown dull.
He found no joy in their blind devotion.
“Hmph, if you were choosing an inheritor, would you choose someone young, full of potential, who has already embarked on a path of dominion over sin and negative emotions like the dragons?
Or someone forced to chase this power after exhausting his potential?” Helios asked though he wasn’t expecting an answer.
It was simply a way to vent his frustration.
In the end, the young archangel sighed and shook his head.
“Fine, you have twenty minutes.
I suppose it would look odd if only I arrived at the next level, and I don’t want to arouse suspicion-not yet.” Immediately, the angels fell to their knees in worship as though Helios had granted them some monumental favor.
That small display of kindness was enough to inspire them to bow in reverence, their exhaustion momentarily forgotten as they thanked him profusely.
Helios, however, barely acknowledged their worship.
His mind was elsewhere, already planning his next move, as he allowed his angels a brief respite.
The thought of the Tiamat Dragon Sect continued to gnaw at him.
He had planned for a long time to obtain the power at the end of the castle, and he couldn’t allow anyone to challenge him.
As Helios brooded, the angels below continued to bow, lost in their reverence.
