The Epic Tale of Chaos vs Order - Chapter 1231
Chapter 1231: Carnivorous Lotus Chapter 1231: Carnivorous Lotus The shimmering surface of the lake, bathed in iridescent colors, created an illusion of peace-a sanctuary amidst the chaos that had surrounded them since they entered the third level of the Demon King’s Castle.
The surroundings seemed strangely devoid of sentient life, an oddity in a place filled with monsters that sought their demise.
Despite the odd calm, the dragons, angels, and saintesses desperately needed rest.
They had been flying and fighting for days without reprieve.
Cain, Meylin, and Helios exchanged brief glances before descending to the ground around the lake.
The groups lay down cautiously, allowing themselves a moment to recover.
For a brief moment, silence settled over them like a blanket, offering the illusion of safety.
But the peace did not last long.
Barely five minutes had passed when a strange hum began to emanate from the lake.
Every muscle in Cain’s body tensed as he instinctively rose to his feet.
The others followed suit; their guards raised, eyes scanning the tranquil waters, expecting a new threat to emerge.
The source of the sound soon became clear.
The bottom of the lake began to glow with a sky-blue light, illuminating the waters from below.
From beneath the surface, beautiful lotus flowers emerged, their petals glowing faintly with a blue hue, radiating an immense power.
Dragons, angels, and saintesses alike stood in awe of the lotuses’ radiant beauty.
The flowers emitted a pure and potent energy that seemed to reach into the group’s very hearts and minds.
For a moment, everybody was struck with the overwhelming desire to reach for the blossoms, to touch their petals and feed on the energy pulsing within them.
The first to succumb were two angels.
Their eyes, devoid of focus and filled with pure, restless desire, locked onto the lotuses.
Barely clinging to their sanity under the strain of the Depravita Aura that filled the third level, their already weakened minds gave way.
Without hesitation, they dove into the water, swimming toward the glowing flowers with smiles plastered across their faces.
As the angels drew near, the lotuses’ roots surged toward them, piercing their bodies.
The angels barely registered the attack, their blissful smiles never faltering as their blood began to drain.
The roots wrapped around them like serpents, feeding on their essence.
The dragons, saintesses, and remaining angels watched in horror as the two angels were consumed, their bodies reduced to dust in a matter of moments.
“This lake is far more dangerous than anything we’ve encountered so far!” Meylin exclaimed, her voice filled with urgency.
Cain’s gaze remained calm, though his eyes narrowed in thought.
It was clear that this seemingly tranquil lake harbored lethal dangers.
He glanced around, observing how the humming of the lotuses grew louder, their compulsion stronger with every second.
Though most of them resisted the urge to dive into the waters, it was clear that few could hold out much longer.

The dragons and saintesses fought to resist the pull, their minds and bodies taxed to their limits by the Depravita Aura.
Even though they managed to hold their ground, most of the group lacked the strength to step back from the lake’s edge.
Desperation flickered in their eyes.
“We need to destroy those lotuses!” Helios shouted, his voice cold and full of killing intent.
He was not angry at the angels’ death but could not stand that someone was trying to influence his behavior. The dragons, saintesses, and angels unleashed a barrage of attacks toward the glowing lotuses.
Elemental breaths, moonforce, and scorching energy surged forward in a powerful strike.
But to their dismay, the tranquil water acted as a buffer, dampening the force of their attacks.
What should have traveled vast distances barely made it halfway to the lotuses.
“We can’t reach them!” one of the saintesses yelled, panic rising in her voice.
While the others struggled, Cain remained unaffected.
His Power of Order granted him absolute control over his emotions, mind, and will, making him immune to the lotus flowers’ compulsion.
His gaze was steady, filled with a meaningful light as he analyzed the power radiating from the flowers.
Cain could intervene and stop the growing threat but did not.
The ones suffering the most were the followers of the Sun Church.
There was no reason for him to act just yet. Not even a minute after the first two angels were consumed, a third dove into the water, his expression filled with desire, showing no resistance as the lotus roots wrapped around him.
His life was drained just as quickly, and his body was reduced to dust as the lotuses fed on him.
The humming grew more potent, and the lotuses’ power became more pronounced.
The angels’ numbers began to dwindle rapidly.
Two more leaped into the water, their minds completely overwhelmed by the compulsion.
The same grim fate awaited them.
Finally, Cain noticed one of the Ancient Dragons beginning to falter.
He was inching slowly toward the water’s edge, his mind teetering on the brink of collapse.
“I guess it’s time to act,” Cain muttered.
The deaths of the angels had already provided him with all the information he needed about the lotuses’ power.
Now, before one of his own fell, it was time to put an end to this.
With a sudden burst of energy, Cain dove into the lake, his body surging with lightning and scarlet fire.
The others gasped in shock as the scarlet dragon plunged into the waters.
Confusion spread among the dragons and saintesses-Cain, one of the strongest among them, had been the last person they expected to succumb to the lotuses’ influence.
Broad smiles spread across the faces of the remaining angels.
The death of the scarlet dragon brought them a twisted pleasure. But their happiness was short-lived.
Unlike the others, Cain did not allow himself to be pierced by the lotus roots.
The moment they reached for him, his claws ripped them apart with ease, his speed increasing as he dived deeper into the lake.
An overwhelming killing intent radiated from his body as he propelled himself toward the bottom.
