The Epic Tale of Chaos vs Order - Chapter 1235
Chapter 1235: Blood and Hunger Trials Chapter 1235: Blood and Hunger Trials “We should move on,” Helios declared, his voice carrying a serene detachment that starkly contrasted with the bloody act he had just committed.
The angels behind him exchanged glances, defeat etched on their faces, yet none showed any resentment toward the young Archangel.
Cain and Meylin locked eyes, sharing a solemn expression as they observed Helios’s unsettling calmness.
Although the ruthless efficiency with which he dispatched his own followers was disturbing, ultimately, the internal affairs of the angels were not their concern.
Without another word, the group resumed their journey, soaring through the ominous expanse of the third level. More and more monstrous creatures emerged from the darkness-twisted abominations with claws like scythes and eyes that glowed with unholy light.
The corruptive aura that flooded the air intensified, pressing against their defenses like a relentless tide.
Cain led the charge, his scarlet scales gleaming as he unleashed torrents of dark flames upon the creatures.
Each swipe of his claws sent arcs of energy slicing through the hordes, disintegrating them into ash.
The Ancient Dragons flanked him, their elemental breaths decimating anything that dared to approach.
Meylin and the saintesses chanted harmonious mantras, their moonforce weaving protective barriers and illuminating the path ahead as their swords cut through any obstacle.
Despite their efforts, the journey took its toll.
It wasn’t long before another angel faltered.
Without hesitation, Helios drew a blade of pure light and, in one swift motion, severed her head from her body.
He caught her head before it could fall, carefully placing it into his space ring as the rest of her body dissipated into light particles.
Gasps echoed among the group.
The dragons’ eyes narrowed, watching with a mix of disgust and indifference, while the saintesses averted their gazes, unwilling to waste their thoughts on the plight of the Sun Church.
The group pressed on, the atmosphere heavy with tension.
Over the next two days, the pattern repeated itself.
One by one, the angels fell victim to the corruptive aura, and each time, Helios dispatched them without hesitation.
The number of angels dwindled, and their ranks reduced to a little more than a dozen.
The landscape around them began to change subtly.
The oppressive darkness that had been a constant companion started to lighten.
The corrosive aura in the air grew weaker, and the frequency of monster attacks decreased noticeably.
It was as if an unseen boundary had been crossed, and just as they were wondering why, something caught their attention.
“Look ahead!” Eldrick’s deep voice rumbled, drawing everyone’s focus.
In the distance, a massive structure loomed-an enormous gate that rose from the ground and touched the ceiling of the level.
As they drew closer, its true scale became apparent.
The gate was gargantuan, dwarfing even the colossal forms of the Ancient Dragons.
Crafted from an unknown black material, it exuded an aura of ancient power.
Intricate symbols and runes covered every inch of its surface, each pulsing with ethereal energy.

“What is this place?” one of the saintesses whispered, her eyes wide with awe.
Cain narrowed his eyes, a deep frown etched into his face.
Something familiar about the energy emanating from the gate reminded him of the Depravita Race’s power, yet there was an underlying difference-an essence he couldn’t quite identify.
“It’s incredible,” Eldrick murmured.
“I’ve never felt such power.” As they hovered before the gate, the oppressive sensations they’d been enduring seemed to fade entirely.
The dark essence was still present but lacked the corruptive force that had plagued them.
However, before anyone could discern what was happening, something shocking occurred.
Suddenly, without warning, two massive eyes materialized on the gate’s surface.
They were devoid of pupils and glowing with an otherworldly light that pierced the very souls of those gathered.
An overwhelming pressure descended upon them, far greater than anything they had experienced within the castle thus far.
Cain felt his body seize up, his muscles refusing to respond.
His mind raced, but his thoughts were sluggish under the immense weight of the gaze.
The sensation was eerily similar to when he had faced the Dragon Empress Tiamat’s will-perhaps even more potent. Meylin clutched her sword tightly, her knuckles white.
She tried to summon her moonforce, but it flickered weakly against the overwhelming presence. For the first time, Helios showed a flicker of uncertainty.
His usual stoic expression wavered as he attempted to shield himself with a radiant barrier.
The barrier shimmered for a moment before shattering like glass.
Just as despair began to creep into their hearts, the eyes seemed to soften.
A subtle shift in the atmosphere occurred, and the crushing pressure lifted slightly.
A voice echoed throughout the expanse-a deep, resonant tone reverberated within their very beings.
“Welcome, challengers, to the Blood and Hunger Trials!” After those words, the overwhelming pressure that emerged from the eyes faded, but that did little to help the angels, dragons, and saintesses recover from the shock and confusion assaulting their souls.
They were having a hard time trying to understand what exactly was happening here.
This place was a remnant from before the Great War, and the one that forged it was supposed to have been on the enemy side of the ruling force of the Crimson World.
Yet now, as they were reaching the end of the third level of this castle, they were presented with a trial.
There were simply too many questions, and unfortunately, the massive eyes did not seem inclined to give answers.
The next second, they glowed, and dozens of streams of dark force flashed from them, reaching into the foreheads of all the dragons, angels, and saintesses before them.
A burning sensation appeared on their foreheads as they felt a mark branding itself onto them, and fear rose in their hearts as they struggled to understand what was happening.
But the next moment, shock and awe spread across their faces as they looked around, and the world felt different.
It was more colorful, more brilliant-like a blindfold had been removed, allowing them to see the true beauty of the world.
While it was a new experience for the angels, dragons, and saintesses, it was not new for Cain.
Their perceptions changed because they could now glimpse the principles that rule reality, just as he could with the Laws and Concepts back in Aether.
