Chapter 1348: Hybrids Chapter 1348: Hybrids A wide smile appeared on Cain’s face as he surveyed the state of Aether from his vantage point high above the world.

There was conflict all around the globe, but it was the kind of conflict that spurred growth-fights between different types of organizations, all of them striving to improve while surpassing others.

That type of competition was normal and, in fact, natural in the great order of things.

It drove innovation and excellence, with the strong prevailing and the weak vanishing.

However, what Cain did not see anymore were racial conflicts.

Gone were the days of wars and animosity between the light and dark camps.

Clashes between the Six Sacred Races were no longer something that one could witness in Aether.

More importantly, new races were rising all across the world, more specifically, hybrids.

The son of the Scarlet King himself, born from Astrid Severus of the Atrox Immortal Race, was a vivid display of the unity between races.

Right now, there were all kinds of mixes across Aether.

Children carried the bloodlines of the Deus Behemoth Race and the Atrox Immortal Race, as well as those with Godslayer Humankind and Inferno Daemon Race bloodlines and many more variations.

The mingling of these once-segregated lines led to the emergence of individuals with unprecedented potential and abilities.

“The number of hybrids has already surpassed five hundred thousand!

Awesome!” Cain could not help but exclaim, his eyes shining with excitement and pride.

Although the number of hybrids was not even 1% of the population, taking into account that ten years ago the idea of a hybrid was an absolute taboo and considered an aberration by all the races, the change could only be described as miraculous.

“Hahaha, brat, I must admit, you were truly ingenious,” Apex could not help but laugh, his voice echoing in Cain’s mind.

Of course, it was Cain’s own schemes that had brought about this massive change.

“What are you talking about?

I was unconscious during this entire process.

The rise of hybrids is clearly out of Aether’s people’s own volition,” Cain replied, feigning innocence as he flashed an innocent smile.

But Apex immediately rebuked him.

“Hmph, brat, you might have fooled others, but not me.

All the bloodlines you gave to the contestants of the Scarlet Tournament-you made sure that those of the light camp were able to mix with those of the dark camp in a way that the fusion would give birth to even stronger ones.” When Cain heard that, a meaningful light appeared in his eyes as he continued to smile.

The truth was that the Chimera Bloodlines he had handed to the six empires to give as rewards were not given randomly.

For example, the bloodline that the Godslayer Human Race obtained was designed to work flawlessly with those granted to the Inferno Daemon Empire.

That meant that if an Inferno Daemon and a Godslayer Human with Chimera Bloodlines were to have a child, the bloodline of the hybrid would greatly surpass that of the parents.

Of course, just providing compatible bloodlines was not enough for things to work out in the right way and promote unity.

The younger generations needed to have willingly formed bonds, and what better chance for that than a massive tournament?

During the thrill of battle and facing challenges, it is very easy for emotions to flourish.

There was no more massive tournament than the Scarlet Tournament.

In the beginning, some families opposed such bonds.

After all, even if there were no longer enemies, the idea of hybrids was not something those of the older generation felt comfortable with.

Centuries of prejudice and tradition were not easily overcome.

But upon seeing the talent and potential of the new children, all those doubts dispersed.

Right now, across Aether, great and ancient families actually encouraged the idea of hybrid children.

Cain was pleased with how all things turned out.

There was no better bond than that formed through children, and his goal of a complete unification of Aether’s Six Sacred Races was progressing on the right track.

The hybrids represented not only the merging of bloodlines but also the blending of cultures, traditions, and strengths.

He allowed himself a moment to reflect on the journey that had led to this point.

From the chaos and strife of the past to the harmony and cooperation of the present, it had been a monumental shift.  Now that he knew how his world was progressing, Cain finally allowed himself a moment to look inward.

Standing atop a floating island high above the clouds, he extended his fist and clenched it with all his strength.

His physical might cracked the fabric of space around his hand, ripples spreading out like waves in a pond.

It was something impressive, given that as Aether was drawing closer and closer to the Nine Empyrean Sun Universe, its Laws were also growing much more powerful.

“System, scan me!” Cain did not waste time and uttered the words that had become his motto in Aether.

He was eager to assess his own progress and understand how his time as one with the World Will and his experiences in the Crimson World had affected him.
