The Epic Tale of Chaos vs Order - Chapter 1388
Chapter 1388: Hunting Missions Chapter 1388: Hunting Missions Not letting his imagination run wild, Cain kept his focus on the conversation at hand.
“Are there any factions already in place?” he asked, his tone calm and measured.
Zoan softly shook his head.
“Not yet that I am aware of.
No one wants to be the first to establish a faction, as it could make them the target of all the others.” Cain nodded as it made sense.
There were a lot of things he needed to consider.
First and foremost, his power was far from enough to establish a faction.
Core Elders wielded the power of Peak Divine Transcendence Life Forms, a realm he was still far from achieving.
As someone who disliked working hard only for others to reap the benefits, Cain saw no immediate advantage in joining any faction prematurely.
In any case, it was clear he would not get a straightforward answer easily, so it was better to remain patient.
From what it seemed, it would be a long time before the Gu Contest even began.
No need to rush into alliances or commitments before understanding more of the situation.
“Thanks for the help.
I hope to see you soon,” Cain said, offering Zoan a small nod.
“You’re welcome.
Good luck,” Zoan replied.
After that short goodbye, Cain left the Gu Armory and gazed at the city sprawling before him.
The Gu Sect’s inner ring offered all sorts of training grounds, but he had already spent one year in secluded cultivation.
What he needed right now was to test his power, to push his body and soul forward in order to enhance his cultivation base.
“I guess I could perform my Gu Missions,” he mused quietly to himself.
“That would grant me some treasures, fulfill my obligations, and improve my battle power.” With a clear goal in mind, Cain accessed the Gu Sect Interface and began to scroll around the missions.
There were thousands of them, some extremely easy, like gathering certain cultivation resources, while others were harder and more complex, such as finding the cause of strange phenomena that affected the sect’s domains.
Those menial tasks did not really draw Cain’s attention, and he continued searching until he found the type of mission that appealed to him.
“Hunting Missions,” he noted with a faint smile.
The Gu Sect had a lot of enemies and traitors, people it had marked for death.
While extremely powerful, the Everlife Continent was beyond immense, and even a Lord Tier Organization would have problems finding people who truly wanted to hide.
However, that was exactly Cain’s specialty.
While the [A.I.
Chip Module] had yet to evolve and gain the power to analyze Divine Transcendence cultivators and complex phenomena, it was still more than capable of sorting through all sorts of information and using it to deduce a target’s location.
There were many Hunter Missions available, and Cain chose one that targeted a traitor of the sect who had stolen some treasures a few weeks ago.

Upon accepting the mission, a target package arrived to Cain, containing all known information about the man, as well as his last known whereabouts.
There was not much to work with, but as long as he had a starting point, everything else could be handled.
— Millions of kilometers away from the Gu Sect, there was a massive mountain range.
The place housed all sorts of elemental creatures.
Although these creatures constantly fought among themselves, the region was generally peaceful in the grand scheme, with no major disturbances.
Yet today, without any warning, a figure dashed from the sky and landed at the heart of the mountain range, unleashing an explosive blast of fire that incinerated everything in its range.
The strike was absolutely destructive, killing everything it touched, or at least almost everything.
In the next second, a figure emerged from the flames.
The man who survived was a member of the Deus Behemoth Race, resembling a humanoid wolf with blue scales covering his body.
His Astral Wave and bloodline force immediately burst forth, his strength flooding the sky as he gazed at the center of the explosion.
Although he managed to defend himself from the worst of the damage, burn marks still covered his body.
Whoever attacked him was clearly not normal.
“Who are you, and why are you doing this!?” the man’s voice was charged with rage but also carried a subtle hint of negotiation, making it clear he did not want to fight if it could be avoided.
Unfortunately, that was not the case for the other party.
A young man arose from the flames, his entire body bristling with power and heat while a dark sun manifested around his figure.
Cain held the Living Volcano Halberd in his hand as he rose into the sky and glanced at the man below.
“I am Outer Elder Laurifer from the Gu Sect, and your name is Orland-a traitor marked by the sect for killing.
Is there anything else we need to discuss?” Cain’s words were direct, leaving no room for misunderstanding.
He did not want to waste time on empty talk.
His Rebirth Heart, infused by his Ego Wave, burst with power as he dived toward the man, filled with killing intent.
“Hmph, you insolent brat,” Orland snarled.
Seeing that there was no way out of this without fighting, he made his energy explode and unleashed the full power of his Warlock Divine System of cultivation.
Transforming into a massive wolf with draconic scales, the creature he became stood nearly two hundred meters tall.
It lunged toward Cain with overwhelming might, carrying an oceanic pressure that made the sky tremble.
The next second, Cain’s halberd and the wolf’s colossal claws clashed, generating waves of fire and water in all directions, generating a death zone for anyone beneath Divine Transformation. Cain gritted his teeth as the Living Volcano Halberd struck against Orland’s claws.
Sparks and embers danced in the air.
Flames coiled around Cain’s weapon, fueled by his Fire Star Power and the dark sun orbiting him.
