The Epic Tale of Chaos vs Order - Chapter 1422
Chapter 1422: Going after the Night Prince’s faction Chapter 1422: Going after the Night Prince’s faction Of course, Cain could have fought the automaton and perhaps even pushed matters to a draw.
Yet the wounds he would have received in such a confrontation would have been grave, and it simply was not worth the cost.
What truly troubled him was that this particular automaton was just a regular Peak Divine Transcendence Master.
“Then how strong are those like Lady Azure and the old man from the library?” Cain wondered.
Those two were figures who had managed to push one of their cores of power into the Third Realm so they would be significantly more powerful than a mere automaton.
If a “normal” foe at the peak of Divine Transcendence was dangerous enough to force Cain to concede or flee, how much more formidable would these individuals be?
“Ahhh,” he sighed mentally, acknowledging that Third Realm life forms were not the only ones he needed to worry about in the Everlife Continent.
The revelation poured cold water over his sense of security, reminding him that a single miscalculation could lead to catastrophe.
No matter how much his strength had grown, there were always more terrifying powers lurking beyond his current horizon.
Cain inhaled deeply, allowing his mind and will to regain their steadiness.
The moment he opened his eyes again, the red flame within them burned with the same determination as before.
“It is fine to know my current limit.
I just need to keep improving, one step at a time.
As long as I never stop advancing, everything will be fine.” “Hahaha, well said.
No matter what point you’re at, as long as you keep advancing, everything will work out.” Apex’s voice echoed inside Cain’s mind, carrying admiration. A faint smile tugged at Cain’s lips.
He gave a silent nod, acknowledging Apex’s encouragement.
Then, focusing on his next move, he shifted his thoughts to the [Samsara Arsenal Module] and left the dimension-returning to the underground cave he had constructed earlier for privacy and safety. With a single thought, Cain left the cave and appeared in the open sky, retrieving Aladon’s corpse from his storage.
He made some adjustments to the remains, carefully ensuring it appeared the way he intended.
Then, without delay, Cain dashed toward the Gu Sect.
It was time to deliver the corpse to Core Elder Azure, fulfilling the task he had undertaken.
Thanks to his enhanced domain over Space-Time, the journey required only a couple of days.
Once he was close enough, he ensured his Inner World was sealed and that the might of the Laws coursing through him was subdued, outwardly presenting himself merely as an Astral Rebirth Cultivator.
After about half an hour of moving through the sect’s surroundings, Cain arrived at the colossal castle that served as Lady Azure’s residence.
Unlike his first visits, he needed little time to arrange a meeting.
Just as before, a guide led him to Lady Azure’s personal office.
Stepping through the doors, Cain’s gaze landed on the Anima who sat inside.
“Elder Laurifer.
You have come back.
I suppose the mission was a success?” Lady Azure greeted him in that gentle, almost maternal tone.
Despite her soft words, Cain remained on guard, measuring each of his responses.

Beneath her seemingly cordial mask was an extremely dangerous being, one who could see through many layers of deception.
“Indeed, my Lady,” Cain said.
“Here you have the traitor’s corpse, with his brain and heart still in one piece.” A quick sweep of his hand brought out Aladon’s marred corpse, presenting it before Lady Azure.
A sharp gleam crossed her eyes as she studied it.
With a wave, she drew the remains closer and carefully examined the damage.
“Impressive,” she commented, “you seem to have ended his life without destroying his heart and brain.
I knew you were special, but who would have thought you were also proficient in soul skills?” Cain’s eyes narrowed at the remark.
He had taken pains to alter the corpse, inflicting wounds on the other organs so that it would appear Aladon had simply succumbed to accumulated damage.
Yet, it seemed this old woman was not so easily fooled-or she was merely testing him, attempting to gauge his reaction.
Instead of confirming or denying her suspicion, Cain chose to remain silent.
The Anima regarded him for a moment longer, then shrugged when he did not elaborate.
With another gesture, she caused the corpse to vanish.
“You have done a great job, more than enough to deserve the High-Grade Fire Star Soul.
I know now I can trust you, and I already have a new mission for you-one much more important-if you are ready.” At these words, Cain’s eyes narrowed.
A new assignment from Lady Azure was bound to be more intense and perilous than the previous one.
She was not the type to hand out easy tasks, especially not after proving one’s reliability.
“What would the mission be?” he asked bluntly.
Unlike other members of Azure’s faction, who might obey her without question, Cain would not.
Although that stance might diminish Lady Azure’s trust in him, it clearly defined the nature of their relationship: businesslike, with each side wary of giving away too much.
The old Anima showed no sign of offense.
She merely nodded softly in acknowledgment of his directness.
“I need you to go to the Golden Lake as part of my delegation.” Hearing this, Cain’s wariness rose.
The Golden Lake was an extremely dangerous zone, known for an environment that could kill a weak Divine Transcendence Master outright.
More troublingly, the lake bordered the territory of the Gu Sect and the Golden Star Kingdom, a Lord Tier Organization.
Relations between the Gu Sect and the Golden Star Kingdom were notoriously poor, so if members of the two powers saw each other, battles would surely arise. “Officially, your mission-and the entire delegation’s-is to analyze the phenomenon arising inside the Golden River and keep those of the Golden Star Kingdom at bay.
However, your true goal is to kill a few members of the Night Prince’s faction.”
