The Epic Tale of Chaos vs Order - Chapter 1441
Chapter 1441: Taking control of the tower (I) Chapter 1441: Taking control of the tower (I) The members of the Gu Sect wore somber expressions as they gathered on the shore.
The Night Prince’s faction seethed with rage and hatred, their fury palpable after losing one of their strongest warriors in such a bizarre manner.
Even now, they were asking themselves how Alonz perished against the Deus Behemoth when, a few seconds ago, he had been dominating the battle.
Lady Azure’s faction, on the other hand, carried an air of grim concern.
Renan’s life force was in constant disarray, and it was clear to all that the only thing keeping her alive was Arakos’s unrelenting energy and the healing drugs he administered.
The rest of the faction also rendered help, doing their best to keep the Deus Behemoth alive. Of course, the member of the Gu Sect had noticed Cain’s battered condition.
However, the reactions to his plight were mixed.
The Night Prince’s faction would have gladly seen him dead, while Lady Azure’s followers showed little interest in his wellbeing.
Even if they were part of the same faction, it was clear they did not consider him an ally in any sense of the word.
Cain observed their indifference with a faint smile, his expression betraying neither frustration nor irritation.
Instead, he rose calmly to his feet, dragging the unconscious Willis along by his right hand as he walked toward Ariel, the Guardian of the Golden Lake Border.
Ariel watched Cain approach with a neutral expression.
His attitude toward the young man’s injuries was no different from the others-indifference.
Yet, even Ariel had to admit that Cain’s abilities had caught him off guard.
Not only had the young cultivator displayed impressive battle prowess, but he had also managed to capture a Golden Star Kingdom warrior alive.
This prisoner was potentially a treasure trove of intelligence, especially since the Golden Star Kingdom might already believe him dead.
As Cain stopped before him, Ariel forced a small smile.
He saw no benefit in gaining the enmity of such a promising genius, so he handled things with finesse.
“What can I do for you, young man?” Ariel asked.
Cain’s golden-tinged eyes met Ariel’s as he returned the smile.
“I was hoping you could help with my recovery,” he said, his voice calm and measured.
Ariel’s gaze sharpened for a moment as he considered the request.
Cain’s wounds were severe, and while he could endure them thanks to the overwhelming vitality granted by his Astral Rebirth Path of Power, it was clear his recovery would take time.
“And how exactly could I help you?” Ariel asked, his tone careful.
Though they were on the same side, and Cain’s strength had proven useful against the Golden Star Kingdom, Ariel wasn’t about to hand over his precious healing treasures freely.
Cain smirked faintly, well aware of the man’s calculating nature.
Thanks to The Flow, Cain could see the emotions coursing through Ariel’s heart-wariness, suspicion, and greed.
He had anticipated this reaction and prepared accordingly.
“I’m not asking for treasures,” Cain said smoothly.
“What I need is access to the Tower of Power’s energy.
Follow new episodes on the "N0vel1st.c0m".
I train in a technique that could significantly speed up my recovery, but it requires a massive amount of energy to activate.” Ariel’s frown deepened at the suggestion.
Granting Cain access to the tower wasn’t an issue in principle-there would likely be no major battles for the rest of the day-but trust was another matter entirely.
Relinquishing control of the Tower of Power, even temporarily, made him uneasy.
As Ariel opened his mouth to decline, Cain spoke again, cutting him off.
“Of course, if the request is too much, I understand.” Cain sighed softly, his gaze shifting toward Willis.
“I suppose I’ll just have to devour him, then.
A shame to lose such a valuable source of information, but my safety comes above all else.” Cain’s voice carried an icy edge, and his eyes gleamed with a cold light as he uttered the words.
He made no effort to lower his voice, ensuring the others heard him clearly.
The reaction was immediate.
Members of the Gu Sect frowned deeply, their faces twisting in outrage.
“How dare you say such a thing?” shouted a Godslayer Human from the Night Prince’s faction-none other than Goldker, one of Cain’s targets.
“The knowledge that man holds could save countless lives in our fight against the Golden Star Kingdom.
Just uttering those words borders on treason!” The rest of the Night Prince’s faction echoed Goldker’s sentiments, their voices rising in a chorus of indignation as they sought to pressure Cain.
Ariel watched the scene unfold with a small, almost amused smile.
He had hoped the others’ outrage would take the burden of Cain’s request off his shoulders, sparing him from making a difficult decision.
However, his confidence was misplaced.
Cain turned to face the group, his expression unreadable.
His eyes were cold, and a sneer tugged at the corner of his lips.
“Hmph,” Cain scoffed.
“According to the rules of the Gu Sect, I can do whatever I please with a prisoner I’ve captured.
Even if I chose to release him, there’s nothing any of you could do to stop me.” Goldker and the others frowned, their indignation faltering as Cain’s words struck home.
It was true-Cain was well within his rights as the captor.
Still, the opposition wasn’t ready to give up.
An Anima from the group stepped forward, his expression calm but firm.
“Willis’s knowledge could prove invaluable,” the Anima said.
“It could prevent unnecessary losses among our forces.
Shouldn’t that be reason enough to reconsider?” The others nodded in agreement, their earlier outrage softening into appeals for reason.
Cain’s smile widened into a mocking grin.
“If you truly cared about the wellbeing of our forces, you’d be convincing Ariel to grant me access to the tower.
With its energy, I could heal faster, which would enhance our overall battle strength-and you’d still be able to interrogate this man.” A tense silence fell over the group as Cain’s words sank in.
His logic was sound, but it also laid bare their hypocrisy.
It was clear they had been more interested in ganging up on Cain than pressing Ariel for assistance.
Cain wasn’t finished.
His voice dropped to a chilling tone as he delivered his final words.
“Besides,” he said, his eyes narrowing.
“Why would I care in the slightest if all of you died?
The lives of a pack of rabid dogs have no value to me whatsoever.” CREATORS’ THOUGHTS Redsunworld 2/31 Chapter: 21 weekly + 5 for super gift (Preston) + 2 for golden ranking (+70) + 3 for power stone ranking (+400)
